Thanks for showing the wire glitch. I've been playing this game since it came out and never bothered to look it up. I put my lighting, lamps etc., in first before I string the power. See what lights up. You often don't need as many connections as you'd think. I use the large pylons. It's great that you are so in to the settlement building. And your builds are amazing. I really enjoy the settlement building as well. I use three mods, the patch, Spring Cleaning(which allows you to clean up all the junk and scrap entire houses in Sanctuary and other settlements.) and a building mod called Homemaker-Expanded Settlements. Gives you more stuff to build with(lighting options etc.). These are on Nexus. I also use some of the Creation Club mods, I know they are controversial, but I like them. Shrug. I stopped using the scrap fences as walls around my settlements and started using cement walls and cement foundations because they sink into the ground. I don't use glitches, but I think I might start after watching you build.

No problem! I thought it might be useful, most will likely know it but not everyone 😁 glad you liked the finished build! The mods you use sound good, I definitely want the one that removes other items like bushes etc. The bushes around red rocket are a pain as they are tall and everywhere 🤣

Haha I did a lot more playing than normal the back end of this week 😅 I wanted to get this boxed off so I could get back to doing missions as in typical fashion with me, I can't do anything by halves and need to spend 10+ hours building 😅

Ok this is amazing! Really glad you took the time to place “extras” that really help the atmosphere of the place: tables, chairs, various containers and such. Really helps it look settled when you bring the settlers in. Outstanding job!

I make Red Rocket a player home/custom settlement. I use a lot of the creation club stuff to build on top with a trophy room and player quarters topped with a Slocum Joes where Piper is serving coffee and doughnuts. A few hand picked settlers tend a few small shops and guard duty. With the perimeter walled off I use the creation club items that trigger waves of attackers that I farm for XP and loot. Tons of fun!

Nice work dude. Looks good. Oxhorn has made a video showing the enemy spawn points for all the settlement locations, really useful when placing your guns and junk fences. They do tend to pop up inside the settlement walls sometimes, in the real world the walls would keep them out lol, but this is bethesda 😁

Even if settlers have trouble navigating to furniture (and let's face it, they have trouble walking anywhere), they have a chance to spawn in them whenever you fast travel to the settlement.

I've watched some of his videos yeah, it was there that I learnt how to do wire glitches and stuff. There's lots I'm yet to watch though 😁

You have to find the sweet spot on the items with the rug glitch. And flat surfaces help. Move the object around on the rug until you see it “pop up” on the rug. Sometimes it’s the front of the item, sometimes it’s the back. I have a super rough time with the food/bar stands specifically. They’re kind of a pain.

4:39 the last two shops in each category at the Level 4 ones. For most of them you need to build the store first as I understand it, before the option to recruit them will appear.

I usually glitch a bar into the bar inside, put a stove some storage, and a bed for the bartender in that room. You can also put the guards beds under the towers they never sleep in them but they have to have one for every settler

That's a good idea I might stick a few beds in those rooms under the guard towers. I'm going to need more settlers than I have beds to run all the stores and stuff

For power around some bases i used the tall street lights with the conduits on top of them as it killed 2 birds with 1 stone getting light and cables around the base

Are they the ones that require 1 power each? I did look at some of those but wasn't sure how much power I'd have (not unlocked fusion yet)

@mike-thegamingdad yea they all cost 1 power, its only the first one that has the conduit on the top of it though 👍🏼 Also while building you can move objects further away or closer by holding the A button down with the selected object then move the left thumbstick 👍🏼

Wow, i forgot that Store Shop`s require caps to build them. I have made market place out of Preston`s Castle in late game. So i don`t remember Shop`s value, except medical one. You made great job in the Red Rocket. Love it.

Yeah I was shocked! I've only built the bar, general store and medical supplies yet. I need 3k for the armorer, 3k for the weapons and 1k for clothing. Need to get selling some stuff 😅

I've always wanted to be able to connect sanctuary and the red rocket because they're so close to each other and to be able to fix tht bridge into sanctuary would be awesome as well

Well, some objects are a bit tricky to place on the (small) rugs. So what you want to do with the stores for example is: place a small rug, then place a big rug on the edge of the small one and then place the store in the middle of the big rug. This way only the small rug has the collision. It's best to play around with the rug glitch on your own time to get a feel for it. 😊

There's more to it actually... when you remove the big rug the object either drops a bit or get raised to the level of an object it's merged with. That's why i suggested to play around with the glitch to get to know when to use the rug glitch or just multi-select. You can multi-select with anything... rug, pillar... a chair if you like. One more thing: before you download 'scrap everything' mod consider placement of floorbaords for buildings somewhere where there's no bush that can clip through it. You can use junk walls to 'connect' the buildings to have the buildings being part of the wall saving some ressources.

Oh, one other thing... there're conduits that come with one of the dlc, that allow you to get wires inside out or outside in. They're placed basically in the wall with a connector inside to attach a wire and one outside, so you don't need to do this weird wire glitch. Again, i'm looking forward to more UNMODDED episodes. You're doing well by the way... Red rocket looks nice, unique.

I love your buildings ... always hated the small pylons cause of the low hanging wires I'm pretty sure you could have extended the wites from the roof/balcony around to your walls and from there where you needed it without all those pesky wires in your face Also, you need to get the spring cleaning mod. So you can cut out all those pesky bushes and such sticking through your floors and fences I like your decoration style too Btw. Little tip for what you could do (even offscreen) link up your settlement before you start building there. I dare even say link them up as soon as you get them. Just so you can drop off and access your resources anywhere in the world

Thanks a lot! Yeah I've seen that mod mentioned in other comments, definitely want to remove some of those bushes. I think this one is already linked up, but I need to link up more of the settlements I've found as I've got quite a few now with resources at them

Oh, and BTW... look into the concrete foundations ... they sink in to te ground better than the others (that is, 😢if you don't have any dlc's cause they have some even better ones)

There is a mod to turn off the attacks. There is another mod that will tell you where the attack points are. There is a mod to get Nat as a companion, and it has an item that spawns at the Red Rocket.

I dont mind the attacks as such, adds a touch of realism. But I'll be looking up where the spawn points are 😁

Just started the video but the rug glitch... You're doing it right, but not. The shops with the legs are really difficult. The item you are glitching has to sit on the rug. If you set the rug on the edge of a curb for example, the rug will be on the curb, but hanging out over empty space. The object that you want to glitch will "hop up" on the rug once it's on the rug. Once the object is sitting on the rug you can select the rug only (not group select), and it will allow you to place items how you're trying to do. One thing to keep in mind is that the rug has to be able to sit on somewhere it can be placed. If you store the rug the item that you glitch will usually drop down. This can be solved by using two rugs. Skooled zone did a "Deep Dive into the rug glitch" video. Paul shows all of that in the video. It's just going to save ya a ton of frustration with building. Cheers 🍺😊 P.S. his instruction videos are spoiler free. Also, he did a couple different videos on the "wifi glitch" and it works great, but I don't recommend it for new players (just to save you headaches later).

Thank you, I think I got it eventually for the shops, as in I managed to select the rug only. It still hopped down once it was removed though, but thankfully looks okay and didn't drop far enough that it looks out of place. I need to see if the stores are operational and work as intended

There are 2 normal spawn points for Red Rocket where the attacks come from. One out the front gate across from the road. Second is out the back side between your wall and the distant water tower. Oh and by the way...don't be bothered by the few negative comments and know that your videos are fine the way they are.

Yeah, trying to place any of the containers in this game is a pain. They're supposed to have a small space in front of them, basically to allow for space for the drawers or whatever to open. But, due to some idiots screwup all the spaces are instead at the back of the object blocking you from placing it against a wall. *Eyeroll*

rug must be on a flat surface when you move the shop on to the rug you will see the move up then high light the rug, the rug cancel out the boundary box round the shop, or Nexus Mods has a mod that will turn off & on the boundary box so you can glitch thing into each other hope this helps

If you wanted to string power and lights around the walled perimeter, you could have used streetlamps and killed two birds with one stone.... As far as where spawns attack from, you have the major point directly across the road from the east, and along the rocky hillside to the north from Sanctuary's direction. Once the robots and Rust Devils kick in from the Automaton DLC you're going to get hit regularly from across the road, like almost every time you show up at the Red Rocket, and that's on top of the usual normal Raider and Super Mutant patrols that also come from the east. It's usually just Raiders from the north, at least that's all I've seen in my games at Lvl 50+. I've only been hit once from the west from Abernathy farm direction, and I think that was due to some enemies locking onto my Provisioner to Abernathy Farm from Sanctuary.

I don't have the generators for streetlamps yet, I thought I saw they need 1 power per lamp, which would drain most of my power from the basic small and medium sized generators. I'll keep an eye out where the attacks come from then, I should be fairly well protected from the North because I've stuck a load of turrets on top of the generator building, and they are at eye level with the rocky hillside more or less. Road attacks might be more of a problem

The rug glitch works except on the items it doesn’t work with and sometimes it doesn’t work with the items it usually works with….. 🤣😂 shops are not one of the things it works with, sadly, so you did it the best way you could. It drives me crazy but it’s not stopped me rebuilding the commonwealth a thousand times in the last nine years. 😊

@62zuzuspetals haha well that's good that it wasn't just me not doing it right with the shops then 🤣. I've done two major settlement builds since this one. But this was the one and only I did mod-less. Later on I tackled Hangmans Alley and I had been warned about how difficult that place was, so I didn't even bother trying and I just downloaded place anywhere. It came out good that one though! And then very recently I did Greentop and as well as place anywhere I've also used scrap all or whatever it's called, so I could delete a lot of the rubbish. I also used OCDecorator. As I realised when doing Hangmans Alley that placing individual items is a pain as settlers just knock them over 🤣. And OCDecorator allows you to lock them in place

@@mike-thegamingdad yes it is a mod, it’s a big mod at that and there is even a story with it if you want to play but it’s everything settlement building should have been.
