El Kudos I feel like he was trying to explain something different, he just didn't explain as well as he could've. I think that what ox was saying is that we shouldn't let standards set by other (admittedly better) games ruin our experience of fallout 4, because when you take fallout 4 at face value, it's pretty damn great. It's ok to criticize, just don't let it ruin your and other people's experience with this great (though not a good fallout) game

1:05 - FYI, Transfer Settlements just works fine without HUD Framework. You just won't have that little widget that shows your import/export progress.

There's this mod called Sim Settlements that's like an overhaul of the settlement system that looks really interesting, you can choose a place for your settlers to build something (houses, shops, etc) and they'll do it on their own. If you keep them in a good mood they'll upgrade the buildings, I think. It looks really cool and just the sort of thing you'd take a look at, Gopher.

Settlements aren't my thing, but the technical aspects of this mod are staggering. Incredible mod. What would be cool is if this could be scripted to import and then have the settlement appear over the course of several days or weeks to make it seem like the settlers were building things instead of being useless. The more settlers, the faster the imported settlement gets built.

Thank you so much for this video! I followed all the steps here and it didn't work so I was puzzled for about 3 hours. Then I found your mod preparation videos and there was 1 line missing in my prefs.ini file. Weirdly, half the line was there so I must've done half of it some time, then closed it or something! As soon as I added that line in, the transfer settlements worked! Thank you very much!

When I saw this on Oxhorn's channel I started thinking it might be fun to post tours of settlements on KZbin then upload the blueprints to Nexus for any of them that generated significant interest. However, as cool as this mod is for self-use if you have multiple characters (so far I do not), the more plugins needed to replicate the build the less desirable the blueprints will be to others (it seems to me). Probably vanilla settlements (game and DLCs only) will be more useful/popular, yes? In any case it's a great new toy to play with.

there's always the scrapall command to scrap the entire settlement at once. just be careful when you have a couple of settlements in sight of each other such as red rocket and sanctuary hills. apparently it'll scrap stuff in any loaded settlements.

Thanks Gopher. Your Mod clinics are always informative. It is a pity that, going on some of the comments, that there are some who want everything handed to them on a plate which completely negates the background lore behind the game. The settlers have had two hundred years to build settlements but no one who could actually put in the overall infrastructure to keep them in a somewhat safe environment.

IF this was the frist playthrought (or the first few months of the game i would agree with you...but after rebuilding the sanctuary for the trillion time this becomes annoying...one would say do playthroughs without settlements ..and i have done many...but that eliminated 80% of the loot...so im at the point of searching for ready made stuff...plus many of my settlements aren't as elaborated as stuff i''ve seen online.. P.S and i find BS that someone hasn't made an "architecture" mod (give to someone the items so HE/SHE can make the settlement) like we have in FNV ..where the X npc sends you to a place to find XX and you bring it back to and in X amount of time the building is complete (Byson Steve Casino).....have you ever played AC2 ? ..were you have an architect in monterigioni that fixes the city for you when you give him money...

what made me replay it over and over...lets players...i played it for few months and the got bored of it after finishing it and deleted it...then i see someone elses playthrough of stuff/places i haven't seen or the perk build looks interesting and i boot up again the game with a different character...rinse and repeat

You know what this means Gopher. Now you have to start a new series where you download and tour all of our settlement builds much like you tour the Minecraft server to see our builds there. I've seen some FO4 builds that are as fantastic as some of the Minecraft builds and some that are soo realistic and detailed they will blow your mind.

You'd still have to reconnect power lines. Also could you import to settlements that you have not unlocked yet? I'd like to start a new game with settlements already built as well so I could play a raider without having to build the settlements myself.

I have one question about this mod: Does importing settlements grant my character the same XP that I would have gotten by building that settlement from scratch? See, for those of us who take our settlement building seriously, that's actually one of the biggest rewards. The settlements themselves offer very little of real value, aside from a regular recurring supply of adhesive in the form of vegetable starch. But other than that, settlements are mostly independent of the rest of the game. The primary reward we get from building large, elaborate settlements is the ability to get lots of levels without putting yourself in mortal peril. This mod definitely looks like it would take that reward away ... unless the mod specifically makes a note of how much experience was gained by making that mod from scratch and included that data in the blueprint file. That's something the mod developer MIGHT have done, but it's not something I would necessarily EXPECT him to do!

I can't figure out how to import a blueprint. If I try to nuke my settlement to start fresh, it says no workshops nearby. If I try to import, it says there are no blueprints even though I download several from the nexus. any help?

I did actually. You have to go into your data folder following this path: Data\F4SE\Plugins\TransferSettlements\blueprints\ and create a folder named "1". This apparently creates the "slot 1" spot. If you want to import a blueprint, make sure you have a .json file in that folder. These are actually steps for a exporting but it works the same way. I was pretty disappointed that the instructions werent so detailed or that no one provided a solution anywhere I asked. Hope this helps.

I have to warn you tho, I imported a castle blueprint, made some additions and tried to export it to another save game. I couldn't export and the file wouldn't overwrite my version of the settlement. This is probably a incorrect method but it's what I figured out on my own when nobody would tell how to do it the correct way (even after reading the installation instructions). It works but you probably can't export your settlement.

The edit for Fallout4Custom.ini has changed in version 1.3b of this mod. The entire section under Papyrus seems to be no longer required. The author has removed those instructions from the description and now it only requires the little change bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 and sResourceDataDirsFinal= that many other mods also require.

Does Transfer Settlements also remove items/objects that were removed by your other character? I use scrap everything in my settlements and it would be amazing if this mod fully replicates everything you've added as well as delete removed items/objects.

Are you gonna try Mod Organizer with FO4 any time soon? Most mods do work, a few mods can't be unpacked and crash the manager, but the majority of them work. With the exception of DEF_UI, the mod itself works, but customizing the HUD seems to be impossible with MO. So I wanted to know myself if there's any way to make it work.

Is there a reason why when you use nexus manager with other mods, it doesn't open the load order for your blueprints? Your's is the only one that works for me like that and it freezes my game after it transfers

Because that's just not what game companies have in mind when creating games. I would've never expected Beth to implement Downloadable settlements on launch. Don't see why would they. Of all the things I've seen people wondering why they weren't already in the game, this one makes the least sense.

You could say the same about all of the mods that have been made, "Why did Bethesda not do this for the original game"? They would never have released the game if they had even thought about that. But they have given mod makers the availability to do so and probably saved themselves having to employ another hundred extra staff. I think giving mod makers the ability to make mods according to the way they see the game is a far superior alternative.
