The ghouls were probably survivors from the first bombs who got irradiated and turned in their sleep, the minuteman probably died of starvation since the only exit was through the ghouls and the raiders probably died from falling down, breaking or hurting themselves and drowning because it looks like the water flooding the cave is a common thing. Like if you agree, comment your theories.

It says 999 on your ammo in your interface because you have more than 999 bullets/ammo for that specified ammo type - and the interface doesn't display a higher number of bullets than 999. So when your ammo drops below 1000, then your number will start to fall.

when it says 999 ammo in reserve, it means two things. 1. you actually have 999 ammo in reserve, or 2. you have more than 999 ammo in reserve. you can see exactly how much ammo you have for a particular weaop by see it's stats in the weapons tab

Spray -n- Pray... Probably The best mid-range weapon IMO. Using it in close combat situations you actually take splash damage from the bullets but if you're over level 50 the damage you take isn't that significant.

Fun fact... You can actually get into that first house by sitting on a couch through a crack in the window in the back. You just teleport through the wall, and end up on the couch. Then you can unchain the door, or go through the dungeon backwards.

Fallout 3 will list up to set numbers (which are odd & different numbers) for each ammo type in fallout. & if you break 300k rounds on the minigun (most likely via Anchorage glitch) your number some time becomes -----'s which is then an unusable number of rounds, they literally glitch out & can not be used. If dropped & picked up again your ammo might delete its self. 999 is the max displayed in fallout 4 to solve the display issue of fallout 3//NV

The family who was living in the house pre-war chained up the door after the bombs fell to keep raiders out, but then became ghouls. They remained locked in the house for however long until the sinkhole appeared and the Minutemen started using the bottom of the sinkhole as a base. Grandpa was eventually found in the base and killed in his sleep by some people who later died trapped in the sinkhole. The people who killed grandpa and grandpa himself were the skeletons, obviously having been down there much longer than the still fresh bodies of the Raiders. Years later, Raiders eventually found the base and decided to tunnel around inside it only to accidentally dig into the house with the ghoulified family. They tried to regroup at the bottom of the sinkhole, but the ghouls killed them all. This explains why grandpa and some of the bodies in the sinkhole room had enough time to become skeletons even though the Raiders down there did not. The Raiders most likely brought the Brahmin down because they knew there would be no food for them until they managed to tunnel out of the sinkhole, so they needed a source of food.

Sinkholes are caused by flowing water eroding or dissolving the ground, leaving a cavity which collapses. The most likely cause of the hole is that pipe we see pouring into it leaking and carving out the cavity, which then collapsed and took the houses with it. Generally they are not related to seismic activity.

You can glitch in the house too by going around to the back window, and hitting "sit" in the chair. That will put you inside the house, and then unchain door and go down to the basement.

hmm Your theory on the house and sinkhole being used by the Minutemen is a good idea actually. it is supported by the house being there locked from the inside and stocked with supplies. It seems they made it an outpost. As well, the way it looks, I think it was the Minutemen that dug the tunnel into the cave looking to expand the place and make it larger. They started in the basement, and dug the tunnel. After that, the raiders ended up taking them out. Now to me, gramps there may have been the commanding officer and called for a retreat. He may have been the only one to make it back into the house and locked it from the inside. But it does not look like he was killed by raiders. The skeleton is too old compared to the raider bodies. I think that he probably hid there until he died. Possibly wounded from the battle with the raiders. After that, The raiders and the Brahman ended up falling into the hole after the subsequent seismic activity opened the top of the cave to the surface. These raiders probably got killed by the deathclaw nesting up top. This would mean that the cow did too. The water running down likely just washed their bodies down after the deathclaw was done with them. Now, the Feral ghouls being locked inside the house may have been Minutemen themselves. The skeleton is at least 75-100 years old. This would mean that maybe gramps was not alone when he escaped into the house. Possibly that the minutemen had a few ghouls in their ranks in this unit. And that when locked inside hiding from the raiders for so long, their minds rotted and they became feral. A feral ghoul exposed to lots of radiation can become a glowing one, so that explains that. The only hitch in this is, it takes a while. years for a regular ghoul to become a feral. So they likely were locked inside for a long time, too afraid to move.

There's actually a very quick way to get into the sink hole so that first house you go by where he said "that's all chained up" all you have to do is go around back and the two windows are out and there is a chair inside right by the window and put you're cursor over the chair and it will give you the option to sit and then sit and it glitch you inside and then once you're inside go into the basement he came out of, your welcome. Btw I also hate those damn sting wings!

When I went there, there was a dead raider on the staircase making me think she was the sleepwalker. So I think that was actually the raider's base of operations that the Minutemen were tracking down. But they were ambushed and only the grandpa got away. Then maybe he was corned by the raiders when the earthquake that caused the sinkhole appeared and threw them all underground into the cave. I believe the grandpa was the only survivor of the fall or quickly killed anyone else who fell with him. Then using whatever material and supplies he could from the fallen houses, he set up a camp and began to dig his way to the raider basement remembering where it was perhaps. Where the ghouls come in I'm not quite sure. The house was locked so either they fell in the sinkhole after the grandpa died or they were already in the house. Looking at the grandpa skeleton it looks like he died peacefully in his sleep since he was laying in a normal sleeping position with his hat beside him and a bottle of booze. Since he did make the tunnel to the house, and went back to die at the bottom of the cave rather than leaving I think the ghouls must have already been in the house. So when the grandpa finally dug his way into the basement, the ghouls came out and he retreated. I think at the time the hole was not big enough to walk through but maybe another earthquake could have opened it up later between his death and the player's arrival. I also believe he chose to go back and die rather than fight his way out was because he must've been low on ammunition since he was fighting a horde of raiders before he got stuck. Then running out of food and clean water he died. ...I think I touched all the bases, lemme know what y'all think and if my idea holds any truth or maybe how plausible you think it is.

The raiders and the MM fell in, they fought (never doing the quest, I had always assumed they died when falling). The MM guy had dug his way out an got killed by the ghouls. What doesn't makes sense is why he is a skeleton, and the raiders were not. Maybe they ate him because he wasn't in the water? I guess ferals can't swim, and he had looted the ammo. The guy outside that you said died for the food, was likely the last guy sent on this quest, who got killed by the deathclaw or bugs... I don't believe the Death Claw is for a quest, I think it is just bugged.

I don't think that the Minutemen were based in the house; it seems like there was a family hold up in there. Brent Savolo just went down into the sinkhold while fleeing the raiders, and he was able to ambush them as they came down the hole after him; maybe with a grenade or something. He was presumably digging his way into the house, but while resting, he was ambushed by feral ghouls. The ghouls might be the remains of the people who were living in the house, or they might have fallen into the sinkhole at some point.

the quest is called the devil's due - and you can find it at the top right corner of the map - it starts in what looks like an old church building, labeled museum of witchcraft, the front door is locked - but if you look around the right side past the gate - theres a dead body with a holotape - that should start you off

The Deathclaw isn't normally passive, there is a bug with it that it is sometimes passive, but normally it is hostile. It comes out of that spot that it's in when you first drop into the sinkhole, then roars and proceeds to bumrush you.

Ok here's my theory: Remember when Preston Garvey told you about the Quincy Massacre? Settlers called but only one squad showed up and most were wiped out? So the bartender's grandpa was one of the minutemen who responded. Could be he was the lone old guy left behind to guard their base because he couldn't keep up any more? Anyway...the squad is wiped out. Preston bails trying to help the rest of the settlers. He might not even know grandpa is still back there. So grandpa takes to hiding in the shelter under the house, drinking away his sorrows over not being able to help. Old Gullet chases the Raiders down the sinkhole and in the brief struggle grandpa and the raiders are killed. Clearly nobody got out alive.

i always thought Cathy (the sleepwalker) was a minuteman, was the only one in base and such had it locked down, if you look at the bottom of the stairs you can find a skeleton, i assume thats cathy, if she died from her fall the other minutemen wouldnt be able to get back into the base. savaldi could have been trying to dig his way back into the base where he found the ferals which would have injured him, he escaped back to the campsite in the sinkhole where he died.... he also could have starved as there was no way back to the surface that wasnt through a hoard of ferals. also could have been holding out in the sinkhole agaist some raiders ?

Here's what I think, the sinkhole happened and so the minute men went to the town and started to dig down to find any survivors that fell in. in the process the Raiders were attacking so they were fortified in the house but then found out there plans and went down the sink hole to kill any survivors but died from the fall. as for the gouls those were the survivors that they already brought up but had been radiated from the nukes.

My theory as to what happened goes like this, since the body is a skeleton but there is only 1 skeleton body other then the first one i'm going to say the raiders just ended up washed down and were probably killed by the ghouls. As for the skeleton, i'm going to say he might have been the grandpa since it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for him to grab grandpa's hat as he was fleeing. What with all the stuff set up he most likely surprised for a time, probably started digging when he saw his supplies weren't going to last long, he broke through into the room and was killed by the ghouls as he tried to get away.

I actually discovered this location by accident by trying to open the chained front door of a house I decided to investigate further and my previous experiences with previous fallouts I knew of the buggyness that comes with such a wide and detailed game so long story long walked over to an open window and clicked sit on a couch and I was in no need to fight the death claw 😆👌

Their is a way into the house without entering the sinkhole, go to one of the windows and sit on a couch which is inside the building. I puts you into the house. From there, enter the door named " Old Gullet Sinkhole " and then do the mission.

Not sure if this has been said or not but those Raiders would have to have been long after the minutemen guy. Key point, minutemen is a skeleton suggesting he has had a long time to decompose. The Raiders had to have died recent-ish. I am thinking those ghouls maybe had been non feral at one point, chained the door to keep whatever terrible wasteland threat you would like and eventually turned Feral. Or maybe they knew they were turning Feral, so they locked themselves inside to prevent them from harming anyone. The minutemen got into the fight with the Raiders as suggested, not the fleshy Raiders but maybe any of those other skeletons down there. Minuteman falls through the sink whole, tried to dig himself out and discovered the Ferals. Then Fleshy Raiders killed by the same ghouls years later.

I love videos like these. Why actually play the game when I can just watch videos of people doing every little thing I would have done myself? Thanks for all the info that I already knew, because you know, I HAVE played the game. Hello, also, before anyone complains to ignore things that I don't like instead of leaving negative criticism, I did enjoy the video. I enjoyed the commentary, it was rather charming and funny to see this guy being kind of, well, silly.

Maybe the minutemen digged into sinkhole because was safe for them. But the raiders found the hole in the wall of the building and found the men from the minutemen in there. The Ghouls maybe heard the shoots and run to the area like they do. when the Raiders were looting the bodies of the minutemen, the ghouls attacked the raiders and killing them in the sinkhole. Maybe the raiders didn't rip up the minutemen maybe it was the ghouls did that. Because they have done it before, at the camp site NNW of the map, ghouls attack some setters a year before the player is out of the vault. There bones and bodies can be found in a small hole near the camp site, it's not marked on the map.

sometimes if houses are chained and there are no ways in you can go to a broken window and if there is a chair next to it you can sit in it and get in.

What happened is that he probably ran back to the base, which is why the door is chained, the raiders went down the sink hole, he killed them but got heavily wounded, and as he was dying he drank the liquor to ease the pain

Perhaps it was the RAIDERS camp and the minute men stumbled across it then after a skirmish found the Gould killed some but were eventually overwhelmed

the sleep walkers note is a reference to a skeleton on one of the bridges that they fell off of because there is a ripped sleepwalkers note there too
