Combat shotties are a lot of fun and they fire quickly enough with enough bullets in the mag to get through mobs easily

Man I was pretty bummed when the cold shoulder came out just after I had finally completed my collection of all the explosive and 50c15c V, B, AA, Ex, and Q combat shotguns and really had the build nailed down. Suddenly everyone had a stronger shotgun build than what I'd spent 300 levels making and they weren't even specced for it LOL I do use the cold shoulder now sometimes on bosses for the freezing but the mechanics with the combat shotguns are a lot more satisfying. Your video does make me realize I need to try a non stealth loadout though. Nice overview my man.

Combat shotgun is underrated as hell. Been using it after the explosive nerf i was a pump all the way before it became ass imo

Honestly I’ve just been using a shotgun with enforcer, I love crippling enemies especially robots, fills so satisfying getting revenge on them

My AA 50% limb damage combat shotgun is one of my go to weapons. I named it Legbreaker. Stacked with Enforcer, it'll insta-cripple most targets

It's semi-auto and you can attach suppressor. Those are two big selling points for stealth enjoyers. I personally used B/50 crit damage combat shotgun when I was running circles in West Tek at *2xp weekends. It's also amazingly ammo efficient.

The fire rate thing... the only real difference is holding the trigger or pulling the trigger

From what I have read, the yellow numbers just indicate hits to the head, which may not necessarily be the weak spot.

I main the guass shotgun, i usually run 3 of them, an AA/50vhc/25apc, a B/50vhc/15r, and a Q/50vhc/90. The guass shotgun is so much more powerful than the others its ridiculous. It melts rhe mirelurk queen with a quick volley in vats😅 and now with grenadier increasing the explosion radius, it clears grouos of adds like nuts. Just gotta be careful, because if you vats crit eith it while inside the explosion radius, youre dead 😂

the combat shotgun is an amazing choice sadly it gets overlooked a lot because its slightly worse then the double barrel or pump action. but it will definitely do you just fine, alongside a lot of other weapons in this game

ergh, the pump-action irritates me because of how slow it is to cycle (I hate it when games think that's a good way of stopping them being over-powered), so I used to take a combat shotty over a pump-action any day, at least until the cold shoulder showed up and made them all feel a bit irrelevant.

@@peterclarke7240 Bethesda acts like pump actions are so hard to operate. You can shoot a shotgun as fast as you can pump with enough practice; they call it a pull-rack technique. It would make the gun much better.

Idk about one weapon but maybe the boomstick missile launcher shot and then quickly swap to an instigating weapon might kill a Mirelurk king

Explosive vampire makes you unkillable plus it still is not bad in damage just terrible for boss damage. I play shotguns like a tank hold boss cripple slow with the cold shoulder then heal with vampire combat shotgun. Really fun and good for scorch beast queen holding

I wish they balanced pistols, shotguns, snipers, melee builds in Fallout 76. So many people in bethesdas discord keep suggesting for them to nerf fixer and railway rifle because they are so strong when in reality they overpeform because everything else sucks. Cant roleplay as gunslinger as the only good pistol is the Gauss pistol or the very rare crusader one. lever actions are so weak and hunting rifles are so bad at the moment.

I just wish Bethesda would hire some people who actually knew about how guns work. It's absurd that the fixer uses a pistol calibre bullet that outperforms the assault rifle's 5.56 rifle ammo. I kind of feel a lot of their balance issues would get fixed if they just went with a modicum of realism. Equally, I'm very aware that Bethesda are probably deliberately trolling the gun nerds at this point. 🤣 Failing that, magazine capacity, fire-rate and reload speed are the easiest ways to fix a lot of the balance issues, certainly between rifleman/commando build guns. The Assault Rifle already has a slightly faster reload rate than the fixer, and can take a drum mag... But the drum mag only holds 30 rounds (again with the lack of realism, bethesda!) If they doubled it to 60 rds and increased the fire rate a bit, the AR would be a viable alternative to the fixer. No need to tweak damage rates, because DPS would balance it.

You realize that the 5.56 was chosen by NATO specifically bc it isn't a deadly round. It's a crippling round. You're not much of a gun nerd are ya? And before you say something stupid, I'm retired US army infantry vet. They explain why the 5.56 was chosen. It's a crippling round, weight and cost are the three primary reasons.

I got an Anti-Armor one and it's quite good. Looking for an AA 50%+ vats one for targeted headshots. It's a beast with enforcer too.

I was lucky to have a super mutant over in Westek drop an AA50C25 combat shortty for me the other day. I have literally zero points invested into any form of shotgun related perks. Regardless i decided to mod it up and take it for a test drive. Thing smacks so hard, specially those stealth crits 👌

I was under the impression that the Anti-armour effect and the armour penetrating effect from the piercing mag didn't stack. Have I got that completely wrong?!

They stack but applied separately rather than added together and applied.

Quad 50c Assaultron head might be capable of one shotting the mirelurk queen. it does thousands of damage on normal mobs.

after the update if you use grenadier on a explosives shotgun the damage gets reduced a lot I have an anti armor explosive combat shotgun but now it feels like if didn't have any range at all the damage is so weak

What?! Did the nerf effect other explosive effect guns, or just the shotgun? Either way, that sucks. I used to use the Crowd Control a lot in the early-to-mid game because it basically lived up to it's name, So I'll be sad if it's been nerfed.

When did anti armor weapon get so good? I just compared AA combat vs Quad explosive double barrel. The difference is pretty huge. Now I wonder if Anti armor explosive exists or not 🤔

Anti armor got indirectly buffed because they redid alot of enemies DR, so on average alot of enemies are tankier now. Kinda rule of thumb, is AA > B vs enemies with

How do you have that many perk points? I thought it capped at level 50? Or is it because of the legendary perk system?

Legendary SPECIAL cards. For the most part, I think they are better than most other cards. The only exception I make is melee/unarmed explosions because I think it’s hilariously fun to punch an explosion into a target
