I do all SPECIAL legendary perk slots so that I maintain versatility on my character's build setups. Seems like that was the right call early game with the Ghoul update on the way. If they ever add a 76h Legendary perk slot I'd probably pick up a damage oriented one, as legendary charisma doesn't count towards your ability to share perks with a team.

Really wish the Gatling laser gets new mode or buffs so it can compete with Gatling plasma. I love using the Gatling laser over plasma but it’s just not there for dps like the plasma is.

Plasma > Laser in every fallout ever. Why should the GatLas “compete” with the GatPlas? Just because the Plas is better doesn’t mean the las is somehow bad. Just use what you want and what looks cool to you. You can easily blast through a raid with a GatLas.

@@julianzepeda2398 and it’s hit scan so leading targets is easier out of VATs. Ammo recharges off of fusion cores which also recharges off Electrical Absorption. A lot of people get hung up on “what’s the best?” when so much in this game is kick ass. An accelerated minigun with B2525PP shreds. You’re CWIS basically. It’s a lot of fun.

Grim reaper's sprint is really insane with the gatling plasma for events with a lot of enemies (rad rumble, eviction notice & moonshine jamboree) and also useful for nuke bosses except the goliath bosses.

I love the Laser Gatling with the charging barrels as a very, very much NOT lazy build weapon. I don't know if this is a bug, because it fires differently in first person than third person. In third person it has a consistently slow fire-rate, but in first you have a quick braap before it cycles into the slow fire rate. This kind of makes it a skill gun, because if you lay off the trigger at the right time and pull again, it will go right back into braap mode without spooling back up again. Like I said, I think this is a bug with the gun, but I hope it never gets fixed, because it actually makes this pretty fun and interesting to use, and you're rewarded for your good timing. I have mine with exploding projectiles which is kind of scuffed since it means I'm taking a lot of self damage and I'm on fire all the time, but it also makes it great for tagging too. I think that might actually benefit Electric Absorption even more since you'll be self damaging with electric damage, I'd have to try this out to see how much the healing is. I haven't been able to get an Ultracite Laser Gatling, I was in a player vendor once and was deliberating buying a plan, and the player switched camps or something while I was in their vendor, then switched back; which caused it to bug out. I could no longer access their vendor, it was always "busy". I've not seen a plan for it since. You're pretty right about the fusion core accumulation, as I'm always generating more fusion cores than I'm expending even just using the non-ultracite gatling laser, and I don't use it with a particularly strong build. I cut back on a rank of Power User to see if I could free up perk points before realizing this actually impacts ammo capacity for weapons that use cores in addition to power armor efficiency.

Great build! Though I was a little surprised to see Troubleshooters for the main legendary on the power armor instead of Overeaters. I get, of course, that Troubleshooters is superior for any robot, but it does nothing for anything else in the game. Seems like Overeaters would be more well-rounded as a defensive legendary against anything a lazy heavy gunner might be up against. Just a gut feeling, though. Nothing to back that up. I have a full Union set of each, without all the appropriate 2nd, 3rd, or 4th stars though. I'll have to start hunting for Rejuvenators and try them both out.

I'm a big fan of lazy builds like this. I'm currently in mid game running a fun lazy build: t45 power armor (cheap to repair and rechargeable fusion cores at my base, armor piercing with higher fire rate gatling gun for decent damage and infinite ammo and VERY durable, and vampire minigun as a swap out if i need to activate godmode

If this build is for a player who already has done everything as you said, there's zero need for Travel Agent or Cap Collector. You know that caps accumulate at a high rate as it is and reaching max caps is easy enough already.

If you've done everything you're already able to put any mod on whatever weapon you want so instead of buying someone's godroll you can easily just make your own making caps somewhat pointless again

My Lazy Heavy Gunner daily use weapon is the regular Gatling Laser as with Reflex Sight, Aligned Charging Barrels and 25% less VATS cost you get it down to 4 AP per shot. With Charging Barrels and Rapid it also has okay damage and firerate. Also as the Gatling Laser without Charging Barrels has a much higher fire rate and condition loss seems to be balanced based on it, it takes a long time before you have to repair the Charging Barrels version. The Ultracite Gatling laser is not worth it if you use it for VATS as it only does slightly more damage than the regular Gatling Laser but the AP cost is doubled.

Your timing couldn't be better for me. I'm just now stepping back into a PA Heavy Gun "lazy" build and I need to improve it. I was using a bloodied commando (still a lot of fun) but every time a boss fight event would come up, I would scramble to change everything to a full health PA build. That got old. So, I'm retiring my bloodied commando for a little bit. As for Iron Stomach, I don't know why but I hadn't considered it till now. It's going in my build right now! On the other hand, I think I'll keep Demolition Expert in. For, I love my Nuka Grenades, and want to get as much out of them as possible.

So are we completely sure that head shots count for Pinpointers? Thanks

I find luck of the draw and lucky break help a lot with durability of weapons and armour, I would swap out gunsmith for science perks and a couple of ranks in bloody mess for one rank of those two…

@@The-Spanish-Inquisition490 Yeah, Limit-Breaking is a new 4 star legendary effect for armor or power armor that reduces the cost of critical hits to your critical meter by 10% per instance equipped on your character; this stacks with Critical Savvy.

It's not a percentage, it's a pure number 140 damage and energy resistance

Vanguards is awful. What you want is damage reduction. Vanguards is only adding resistance. Resistances have a drop off point where you get diminishing returns. What you need instead is Damage reduction from overeaters, sets of assassins, troubleshooters etc as they are true reduction to the damage you take.

Drop the overeaters already, that's old thinking and doesn't work as well as you think it does. Swap to either bolstering or vanguards, aristocrats isn't good. Equip a vampire's weapons. Lose your jetpack and replace it with kinetic dynamo on your Vulcan armor. Diminishing returns on armor value isn't as much of a hindrance as that 30% damage reduction. You have to take more damage to get the full effect from bulletsheild and ricochet. Run en06 solo and you'll see what I am talking about. I took him out doing nothing but entering vats and shooting for 3-4 mins. Holding the crit button and the trigger button. 1000 round vats burst, rarely dropping below 85% AP. You cannot get any lazier than that. This works in both low health and high health.

Damage reduction (overeaters) is always superior to resistances (vanguard)

@fivenotewonder it all depends on what you are going for. But for bulletsheild and ricochet to proc you must receive damage and you have to stop 75% of that damage with your armor. Turtle explains this in a recent video about the reflective mod. You also have to look at what kinetic dynamo does. It returns 20% of the damage you receive to your AP bar. With overeater you are losing 30% of that 20%. Add on to that -15% from sentinels and -30 damage from dodgy that most tanky builds use. This is also effecting the damage bulletsheild and ricochet are doing as well. On bosses like en06 that do massive damage, there is a very noticeable difference between AP and the damage dealt to the shields with these perks. With scanners and conductors and a .50, you can still get that 250 rounds of in one vats burst. That is getting the .50 cals AP cost to 9. You can get the laser Gatling down to 4 AP. With AP of 400, you'll get 100 shots. Conductors on a crit will restore 20 AP and HP. Here is where PA vats gets broken, but you need kinetic dynamo and you need to take full damage for full effect.
