I think Obsidian probably would've made most of House's postgame content (the downsides at least) about how the destitute are even more fucked.

@@Mestari1Gaming I can't really make any determinations about which endings are the best because they're clearly all unfinished. Sure, the ending slideshow dialogue attempts to give us some closure, but the best it can do is imply. Without a fleshed out and fully functional postgame, it's difficult to see even where Obsidian stands on its own endings. The Mick and Ralph dialogue, for example, implies that Mr. House isn't actually an ancap because he stuffs Vegas full of rules and regulations, allowing black and gray market vendors to pump up their prices. (Hence, "House is gonna make me rich".) In fact, so much of the game is unfinished. Vegas, Freeside, Westside, they would all be so much larger and more fleshed out if Bethesda actually gave Obsidian a humane work window. Imagine a Fallout New Vegas with 2+ years of development time, instead of like 10 months. Mmmf.

House already has families that resurrected gambling, prostitution and fine dining, but Vegas misses one of the key aspect of the old world. With strong entertainment industry in a few decades, he could further spread soft power across the post-apocalypstic world. The Kings are alive if they are hostile to NCR and attacked them during the Battle of Hoover Dam. House sees it as a sign of loyalty to New Vegas and leaves them alone. I don't know about this mod though, does it show Kings alive in this version of House ending? With AI generated voices becoming more advanced, we don't have to worry about available voice lines anymore.... At least fans making non-profit mods won't. With enough disclaimers, I believe that non-profit mods will be safe from crackdowns.

I prefer kicking both the Legion and NCR out of the Mojave since my character is ex-Enclave and prefers to rebuild Vegas herself.

I think the main reason is that the legion one doesn't make too much sense as Caesar wants to turn vegas into a new Rome, so stuff like the crucifixions wouldn't be in place, also it would be too much work to show the full impact of the legion.

Well the bos may be entitled to horde tech but exterminating them is a bit much. The kings were nice and even I dont think they would rebel since house has the upper hand. My headcanon would be house spared bos and the kings (i also used modz to spare them in game lol). The brotherhood does whatever they do or like envelops something the followers would do. The kings become the 2nd bodyguards of the strip (i know there are securitrons) and helps rebuild freeside. My courier joins both so i can see this happening. House may have brains but the courier is the voice of reason (speech 100 lolol)

@Shy Cracker I know, I wrote a comment somewhere in this video saying you need to support Pacer to get House to leave the Kings alone. But I still think they get fucked in that ending too. In the NCR ending, the Kings get a massive relief effort that eases the burdens in Freeside, and the NCR lets them retain their independence and local authority. In the House ending, they just survive. But they don't get any support. The King's endings mirror the Followers, they all have pretty neutral to bad endings ranging from being left alone to being massacred, and like the Followers, their best ending is when the NCR supports them.

The Followers lack the rigid hierarchy necessary to punish rogue members like Caesar, or that dude who killed the NCR soldiers in Westside. They also lack the stability to expand their operations without external help from other groups. Honestly, the only thing even remotely socialist about them is that they share their resources with others, and provide free education and means-tested medical services. But that’s pretty much what Doctors Without Borders does too.

The Legion ending is weird. The Legion is knows to be brutal during war and making slaves, but according to the wiki, The Legion citizen who live in safe areas inside the Legion live a much more secure and prosperous life compared to the NCR citizen. It wouldn't surprise me if a complete Legion ending, would have places like Primm, Novac and Goodspring prosper, while the brutality and slaves are all limited to only NV.

I think the NCR is bad because of incompetent leadership, and that with better people in command they would be the best option for the wastes. From the moment I first met House he set off my alarms of mistrust, and I've only done his playthrough once just to see it. The first time I went independent which I like as a concept other than Yes Man possibly being even less trustworthy than House at the end of the game. My dream ending is an independent Vegas spearheaded by a collection of minor local factions and the Followers, with the courier as a leader and without Yes Man or securitrons at all and hopefully with an NCR alliance or partnership. The problem with the NCR is administration, and I actually think if the courier did enough for the Mojave NCR troops that they could be convinced to go against the rather unpopular Kimball and General wait and see. Bring back Graham from Zion and you have a very competent general who is also a righteous man with a good conscience. Employ the Big MT and you have a huge technological superiority. The local Gun Runners chapter gives munitions superiority, as it is stated they manufacture their guns to much higher standards than anywhere else in the wastes.

I think it would work more as a way to see how your choices affected new Vegas. In the base game there’s no continuation so there really isn’t a reason that this couldn’t work because if you just wanted to do more quests you would have to reload a save or start over anyway. Not really a continuation with more content but just an epilogue to make them more satisfying.

It's hard to conceptualize the independent ending as it relies on so many decisions by the courier, i.e. the player's choices in how situations are resolved. A low karma courier that kills everyone would have a much different ending than a high karma courier that resolves many of the issues within the Mojave. You have played the game and know full well the amount of choices you can make to impact the wasteland, so to point a finger at this one potential outcome and damn all other outcomes is short sighted. As for your defense of House, it is well known that Mr. Robert Edwin House cares only about one thing: Himself. He sought only to preserve himself and his "territory" Las Vegas. Despite his fabulous wealth, note how he wasn't involved in any efforts to preserve life directly, such as the construction of bunkers and vaults in the Mojave. He only built a missile defense grid to protect his "Crown Jewel" that hosted only himself. He foresaw the Great War since he himself was a major player, e.g. He is the Father and Founder of RobCo, the Old World's largest Robotics and Weapons Manufacture! He himself is a key player in the Military-Industrial Complex Fallout critiques. Mr. House decries the Old World with a witty one liner, "If you want to see the fate of democracies, then look out the window," failing to see his own role in how that old world was brought to the flame. As a side note, if you notice throughout the games, the pre-war governments and their remnants are not good people either, e.g. Power-Armor soldiers in Pre-War Canada executing Canadian civilians in Fallout I and Enclave troops killing anyone outside their group in the other fallout games. It is safe to say, pre-war America was closer to an oligarchy/despotism, but I digress. Mr. House is an ego manic that perceives himself as the savoir and rebuilder of humanity. While he no doubt has access to the knowledge necessary to improve humanity, it's quite telling that he himself has done nothing with it so far. He pacified some tribals and opened a set of gambling businesses, hardly a contribution to humanity as a whole. I think it is quite telling how the symbol of his machinations and his ultimate desire throughout the game is a gambling chip made of platinum, e.g. a symbol of greed, luck, and opulence. Heck, characters in game reference how bizarre and odd the whole platinum chip thing is, highlighting how detached Mr. House is from humanity. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt that he will do good in the future, you can't ignore the fact that he left areas just outside his own gates as slums/ghettos, e.g. Freeside and the many vagrants that live in the New Vegas sewer system. I mean, he literally collects thousands of caps of income from the families, but nothing is ever done to benefit others that we can see or hear in game. He ignores the followers of the apocalypse and is solely interested in whatever grants him power, e.g. money, influence, and especially the platinum chip. All in all, Mr. House's character is best summed up when you refuse to give him the chip. He recites agreements and deal obligations, yells and threatens, and mocks the courier. He isn't interested in anything beyond himself. Don't take it personally though, it's just business.

The NCR would be a lot better if the military performed a coup to oust the corrupt dumbasses like Kimball and Oliver. They are the ones with a problem of overreach, Kimball is the only reason the NCR even came to Vegas. Do that, secure the land they already hold, put in many new policies allowing for less bureaucracy, taxes, and more freedom, and all of the sudden the NCR is a very nice faction to live under. Once the NCR is fixed hold new elections but only allow military members to run for office.

They don't forbid it, they restrict it to only a handful of most loyal and proven Legionnaires, whether that's wise is still debatable though.

@@Hatypus Caesar is pretty much a hypocrite. He has an Auto-Doc in his tent even though he is more than willing to kill his legionaires if he sent them down in the Lucky 38 Vault. And lets not forget that he has a Displacer Glove which is seemingly powered by energy cells.

Joking aside a decent game but there is so little depth to it, I was very disappointed and wouldn't have bought it if I had known. I was excited because it was Obsidian, but the level of thinking that went into NV just isn't anywhere near there in the Outer Worlds.
