BOS used some sort of bomb to atomize the NCR's gold reserves during the NCR-BOS war between Fallout 2 and New Vegas. Its the reason the NCR dollar switched to fiat and the water merchants brought the cap standard back. (i.e. Obsidian wrote an in-game explanation for the Bethesda mandate that they use caps as the game's currency.)

The reason also makes no lick of sense. Like, they just convieniently had access to bomb technology that can vaporize gold to such a degree that it cannot be recovered, and literally never used it again.

All they need is a bomb dirty enough to prevent the reclamation of the gold for the foreseeable future, a weapon hot enough to melt the gold & spread it via detonation in a large enough crater to make recovery a prohibitively time consuming process, or have an advanced technology - which they are known for collecting and using in a limited capacity - capable of somehow destroying or altering the gold so it loses its value - which is a very specific weapon application not likely to be fielded against foot soldiers. (And when there are straight up alchemy machines via the Big MT at the Sierra Madre, its very possible) As for a lack of repeated use - the thing about 200 year old, unmaintained, advanced technologies is that they tend to be sortof rare. Especially when your MO is usually to not reproduce them.

Ok so something that has never happened nor have I ever seen has occured in my most recent save for FNV. There's a prospector NPC stuck in the Dino Shop in Novac. He cannot interact with the doors which I assume is because prospector NPCs are usually never anywhere near Novac. I came back to him several hours later in my game and he's like, freaking the f*ck out trying to sprint from the door out and the door to the dino lookout. I think this NPC is losing their mind. HOW DID HE GET IN THERE? It's really funny too cause the shop owner keeps having pleasantries with him and he'll stop his insanity to say the generic "Howdy" that all NPCs sometimes do then goes right back to the frantic pacing. I'm stunned. As of this moment he is alive and well in that game. I check on him every so often and he's knocked more items off the shelves and his pace has increased exponentially. Idk what to do with him.

I use a mod called "Gun Follows Crosshairs in First Person" it's on Nexus, despite it being from 2014 it works. The gun can get in the way when looking down, this mod should fix that. Although apparently theirs an option in Stewie's Tweaks that does this, the setting might be this "fFirstPersonHandFollowMult = 1"
