Fallout TV Show : Power Armour Upgrade! Is It Better? Reaction To Knight Titus Flight Trailer.

What do you think? Is this a sensible upgrade? Or did you prefer the old huge backpack? Did you know atomic-powered jets were possible? Were they inspired by the Gravity Industries flight suit?

I would think they must have seen the GI flightsuits and copied them. As you said the flight pattern is very similar. A big upgrade for me.

The Fallout 4 jetpack was rubbish! Way to big and how the hell would you control it? This is WAY better!

From what i can see in the scene he does have the back-jetpack, they just added stabilizing jets on the arms to control the main thruster on his back which is a solid correction. Also on old art/renders of power armor you can see hinges where the helmet opens up. So adding hinges to open the faceplate of the helmet makes sense to fix the usability issues of old power armor helmets. Now the power armor user can open their mask to speak face to face and eat food/drink water without getting out of their power armor.

it would help if the boosters were bigger, cause why not and if the flight was a little different. the IRL version looks like strings but it looks like they're almost swinging on those strings, leaning foreword and accelerating and stopping. the power armor looks too slow and upright. this could be easily fixed though and I don't really mind how it is already.

The reason why I don't like this is because it reminds me of Iron Man from marvel. And then you have the face mask that flips up instead of taking the full helmet off which makes it more like Marvel's iron man. This does not make sense within the time period in history. Not to mention that nuclear jet engine that you were talking about was a cancer causing propulsion system

Lol Yeah, that will be interesting to see. There is the scene where someone in power armour is punching a Yao Guai so maybe the guy gets off the canvas to score a comeback win?

@@FalloutPBC Nope that was Knight Tidus and his upgrades was in the welding around the torso area and he gets killed by a Yao Guai in a very pathetic/embarrassing way and it turns out that Knight Tidus is a massive coward.

I agree I think it's probable they found the factory producing T60 and restarted it. It would explain how they exclusively switched to T60 between F3 and F4

I never liked the Fallout 4 jumpack. Mostly for how badly it worked in the game. Those real world flight suits you showed are fantastic, I'm not sure if they intentionally copied them or it's a happy accident, but a big upgrade to be sure.

I prefer the backpack. It makes it more realistic than having them fly in Iron man style. Also if you look closely, that kind of Jet arms won't be able to lift the weight Power armor.

@@Become-Eggplant The backpack version was a big error if you think about it. It's way too big, it wouldn't need to be as the armour is atomic-powered and how would you control it? Still, I understand what you are saying from an aesthetic point.

From a lore standpoint it’s wrong but from a practical and semi realistic standpoint it’s perfect in the lore it was a booster that you couldn’t control really due to it being a add on for your armor in the show it’s a actual jet system that allows them to fly and get around better not to mention jet packs where rare among the brother hood so then making it built in is way better for the story

You are spot on. The Fallout 4 jetpacks wouldn't work in the real world anyway. This is an excellent correction to something that was unrealistic and poorly thought out in the game. The show runners should be getting praised for fixing a problem with real world science.

@@dreed8358 One of the resons and a pretty big one! I know a lot of stuff in a game is done to make the game smoother and more enjoyable to play but when they move over to a physical medium some of the "gamey" stuff will just look silly. Like the power armour falling from any hight without harming the pilot.

I agree, they have gone to the effort to reproduce the sets, props and costumes from the games in painstaking detail. A few things here and there have to be altered for practical reasons. Let's face it: many other Hollywood studios would have completely redesigned the whole world from the ground up. How many times have we had to suffer a "visual reboot" or a "reimagining for modern audiences"

Yes, I thought the same thing. I wondered if it's an upgrade only on some suits. Maximus does ask Knight Titus about his choice of upgrades at one point, which I thought was cool.

I have been a fan since Fallout was in its infancy, as a simple pc game from Interplay. The differences in each fallout game have always been, in my opinion, nullified by one question, did it feel "Fallouty" enough?. Not to mention, power armor has only flew in two out of seven fallout games (if you include tactics and BOS)... I believe they fully encapsulate this "Fallouty" feeling cleverly into every aspect of the show. I think they nailed it! Who cares if the power armor flies differently, IT FLIES!!!

Also, when he puts that armor on... that feeling is the same feeling all of us have had when we first equipped a suit of power armor... Joy, excitement and raw power... I can't tell you how many times I re-watched that scene just to immerse myself in that moment... man, they need to make this a reality...

I agree. For me all the changes to power armour is just one of the things Fallout 4 doesn't get enough credit for. They really nailed it in F4 and the show.

Well from what we have “seen”, he didn’t actually “fly”. He slowed his descent from one level to another. Now with that being said, how did he get up there in the first place? At this point we are lead to believe that he did “fly” up there. However, we can’t confirm or deny this happened. The only thing that can be confirmed is it slows the descent of the armor. So everyone take a deep breath lol. Now will it actually help the power armor to fly? It probably will, however no sense in getting worked up over something that isn’t confirmed. Another point, you wouldn’t be able to use a weapon with this style of booster. So this can’t be a “replacement” for the jet pack. Your arms have to be positioned properly, so no way you’re aiming a weapon. I personally believe this is not a replacement for the jet pack and more than likely won’t be as effective as one. I do think it’s a cool feature to the suit and I’m ok with the idea. I will continue to stand on “As long as the story is good, I can over look the little things.”

That was the bit I wasn't too keen on. I'd have liked that landing on the bus to have been longer. If they had shown him dropping from the Vertibird that would have been fantastic.

@@FalloutPBC Yea the clip and the trailers will definitely get you hyped or nervous, but they don’t give the whole picture. If they did, why watch the show ?! So I can understand being nervous but at least watch it first before going for the throat. I also think dropping from a Vertibird would be appropriate. I know in the games you can drop from the Pridwin and take no damage, but this isn’t a game. It’s “real life” now. So it would make sense to have something to slow you down. Don’t think Power Armor can really help you survive a drop from Trinity Tower or at the very least the suit survive.

Knowing they used a real jetpack/suit for this scene, I am more okay with it than I initially was. The flying across the sky like iron man was just silly.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it when I found out they actually used the exact system I featured here. I thought the movement was so similar they had seen it in action and had tried to copy it. Little did I know it was the real system in action! I was really disappointed they went to the trouble of getting this spot on and then ruined it with the silly Iron Man sequence. Hopefully, in season two they will stick to the G.I system for all flight sequences.

I saw all the hate that this clip got and the main thing that surprised me was the "Bethesda Fallout isn't real Fallout" crowd were the ones complaining. They were defending the big jump pack that was from Fallout 4!

I've seen lots of that too. Some of them were talking about Fallout 1 designs too. It was crazy. As if they would base the show on the look of a 27 year old game ahead of the current stuff.

I don't hate the wrist jets, and I agree that they make sense. However, I find it hard to believe that t60 power armor can have sustained flight and be able to gain height with only two tiny(in comparison to the bulk of the power armor) wrist jets, I think they need either bigger jets or more e it either on the wrists or elsewhere on the back or legs for gaining height and maintaining it.

I had that thought too. I had hoped they added jets to the back but not so. I have since found out they used the real flight suit to film this sequence! I thought it looked like it but it was the real thing! Lol The real suit as you saw in the video has two jets on each arm, so having used the real suit I'm surprised they didn't just copy it. The only thing from an in-universe perspective that would help is the fact the jets would be atomic-powered.

Could it be, that's just how they built the power armor in that area or group of people? I wouldn't doubt after 200 yrs power armor would look and be a little different depending on who was using it and modifications they made.

That's a good point! That's the solution we got from Fallout 76. They had lots of new power armour there and the canon answer was - we just hadn't seen that type yet.

Spoilers! This video made some really good points which has definitely changed my views, though having just watched the show, when he flys around like Iron Man a good 50-100 meters. it feels like those tiny little jet engines should not be able to propell such a big price of machinery. Slow the armour when it falls, sure. But flying around like Iron Man, it doesn't feel right; maybe if he had the big jetpack you could justify enough force. I just feel that power armour has been bastardised a bit. No training required and super powerful-super slim jets that fit within the small space between the frame and the armour. Otherwise fantastic show, the armour looks amazing and really gives that strong presence.

I completely agree that scene was really poor. It's a shame they were smart enough to come up with a better, real-world accurate system and then ruin it with the MCU over-the-top nonsense. Totally unnecessary too, he could have gone over the wall and crashed in hover mod and looked realistic doing it. As for the training aspect I think they did a good job of explaining Max was losing the fight because he was untrained in the armour. The Ghoul mentions it 3 times I think.

Well it's not a mistake, is it? Lol It's a creative choice. A choice that does update the design to be more in line with real-world tec as I showed. That said, sadly I think they ended up going WAY over the top with it.

@FalloutPBC definitely a mistake, I believe they did this because they're lazy and it would appeal to superhero fans outside of the Fallout Fandom. Tell me what's easier, making a replica of the Jetpack, or making a simple modification to the gauntlets and put a small tube in them that will get cgi for thrusters. This is a video game and not real life, I don't remember anyone wishing they did the same for the Jetpacks in Starwars. The cool thing with jetpacks in fallout and in starwars is that your hands are free to shoot while mid flight or hovering.
