im glad someone pointed this out, because other KZbinrs fail to mention that part. the rug glitch is not a glitch, but actually a game mechanic. it's part of the game, but like anything it's about self discovery. their's things I'm still finding out about this game, now im not just talking about the settlement system but just the game in general. that's the thing about Fallout, but i can see why people think it's a glitch, it's because it's one of those things not alot of people even know about. now in my case i wasn't all that interested in settlement building when this game was new, my first few times playing i just wanted to see the game. plus the little settlement stuff i did do here and there annoyed me at the time, so i kind of ignored it for a long time. but then i started catching build videos like this, now it's actually fun for me. but the trick with the rug is placement, and what you're trying to put down. a rug can be placed anywhere, but it's best used in my opinion on smaller items. sure you can try what you see people do on KZbin, but doing their method not always work the same way for them. so what i do when the rug is not working for me, i use a set of stairs since they can be lowered into the ground, and since a ladder can give you a nice reach with a decent viewing area, it helps me when I'm trying to move bigger objects. that trick with the lamp, i never thought of that before, might have to give that a try at some point.
@FalloutPBC12 күн бұрын
For me, settlement building was the thing that I most wanted added to Fallout. So I was blown away when I saw the building system. It was so limited at first but once we got the DLC's I went headcanon role-play world-building crazy. It was many years before I ever completed the main story! lol
@Jeymez12 күн бұрын
@FalloutPBC well Fallout can be whatever you want it to be, and settlement building does sort of take on a life of it's own. something tells Bethesda will likely keep it around, but they may simplify things a bit but still keep it lore friendly. i wouldn't want them to change too much, but what would be nice is if they added some paint options to things like wood. they also need to make structures to wear, you can place something down without grass and other debris peaking or poking through. their's nothing more immersion breaking seeing a strain of grass just ever so slightly peaking in lol, but the biggest change they need to add is dead body replacement. that's something you can't do in the game without mods, even if it's something simple like fire and that gets rid of dead bodies I'll take it. also i would also like to see new settlement jobs, seeing npcs hammering things when nothing comes of it looks odd. so if they did something like Sim Settlements, this would be a nice alternative for people who want the easier route of settlement building. that new job would allow you to recruit one person that would be a builder, all the person would have to do is make sure they have enough resources to build, but that would be easy since all you gotta do is go out and hit up raiders and other places.
@Jeymez14 күн бұрын
Abarnathy Farm is quite big, but being that it's a farm it makes sense why it can be somewhat difficult to build here. i think it's because both the front and back take up a large garden area, so you're almost forced to build outside of the farm area. so most of the time i just use Abarnathy as a supply line, since they already have food, all they need some defense and one or 3 extra settlers to be provisioners between Sunshine and Sanctuary, i use Red Rocket as a different supply line that i connect to Tenpines Bluff and Starlight.
@FalloutPBC12 күн бұрын
For me the big problem here is all the space is at the front and back and so little at the sides. It forces you to use the house to some degree, so this place always seems to end up as a backwater farm I barely visit passed the early game. It's also strange to me that they put two of the biggest vertical limits in farms.
@Jeymez12 күн бұрын
@@FalloutPBC which is why i mostly use it as a supply line, so in terms of build i don't do much beyond just trying to squeeze more beds in for two settlers i bring in to use as provisioners. maybe if Abarnathy's house was smaller, you can do more with the area, but it's a pretty big house, and not much you can do to change it or add to it. i think Abarnathy was meant to be a early tease, of how settlements we're going to be a thing in the game. but i don't mind helping them, because later on you can recruit Lucy as a Minuteman. now she don't legitimately become one, but she's the one person you'll be able to move later if you want. you just can't move them. but the catch is, you have to be General.
@Jeymez15 күн бұрын
man these settlements on KZbin is what's keeping, what is going on to be a 10 year old game at this point alive lol. for awhile it was mods, well that still is to some degree, but when you start watching build videos with no mods that can give you an advantage, it makes you think. Greygarden is like the perfect place to run supply lines all over the place, of course it's not the only one i use, but using robots makes it so fast and efficient.
@FalloutPBC12 күн бұрын
I never did get around to making a supply lines video. In later playthroughs I still tend to use Graygarden and Mecanist Lair as robot hubs, it just makes sense.
@Jeymez12 күн бұрын
@@FalloutPBC alot of people seem to do that, probably makes sense considering theirs already robots there. the Mecanist Lair is part of Automatron dlc, but even without robots it looks like a place you can turn into a factory. so if you wanna use robots for it, I'd probably be the better solution, considering robots don't need beds or food. but you can have people in either place, it all depends on how you feel about it. they do make good supply line spots either way, in my case i use Sunshine Tidings. i send someone from there, and i use Graygarden to connect to Oberland Station and Hangman's Alley. but i use other supply lines, but their not all connected to each other. it's the way i do it.
@Jeymez15 күн бұрын
i think first players are gonna want to see the story, that's usually how it goes on a first playthrough. now on a second playthrough they might, but even if they already had some idea about it because of KZbin, since Fallout content is everywhere, they'll probably still choose to play the game the way you'd normally approach Fallout.

@FalloutPBC12 күн бұрын

@Jeymez16 күн бұрын
just when i think my build don't look too bad, i see something like this and my mind goes, how in the world did they managed to pull that off without mods lol. Coastal Cottage is a nightmare for me half the time, so i mostly ignore it. i do that for a few other places that aren't high up on my list of favorites, however Starlight is one of my favorites. that's one area i do alright in, Sanctuary is okay, but it can never seem to turn it into anything great. so i usually just patch up the houses as much as i can, use one of the broken homes i scrap to make like a little cafe or bar or something and call it a day. so unlike you, i mostly use Sanctuary as my main supply line, which works out for me. Red Rocket i mostly use as a player home, atleast early on early game, but by level 40 i usually transition between Longfellows cabin in Far Harbor, and Nordhagen Beach when im in the Commonwealth. Sanctuary i rarely come back to by that point of the game.
@FalloutPBC12 күн бұрын
Many thanks! Across my many playthroughs, I tend to try to use different locations each time. But there seems to be some constants. One is that I always start at Red Rocket, not Sanctuary and the other is that I leave Preston in Concord for the whole game if I'm not playing MM.
@Jeymez12 күн бұрын
@@FalloutPBC i still get Preston even if im not doing a MM run, you're still safe. he only asks you to come back, but all your character needed to hear came from Mama Murphy. the game assumes which involves Preston that's what you're looking for, if you come back. but i get why people might avoid him entirely, but you're still safe, it's almost like the Brotherhood of Steel in a way but a little different. when you first run into Paladin Danse if you go by the front of Cambridge, then you will run into the ghouls and Danse. but after the dust is clear he only asks what you're doing there, after that he asks if you would assist him with a mission. if you accept he will open a line of dialog later, about joining the BOS. but unlike Preston, you're not given a choice to say im not sure or i don't know. it's a yes or no only with Preston, which is a little odd. Danse atleast is offering a position, not trying to force it. now maybe it's the way Bethesda did it, but with Preston it's almost like you're doing it for him. see you can help any settlement without Preston, you only need Mama Murphy to highlight Diamond City on your map, but the Railroad nor the Brotherhood will try to force you into it, yet the Minutemen are considered the good guys. that may be so according to the game, but joining the Minutemen doesn't feel like you're doing it for yourself. with Danse he will polite accept a let me think about it, so if you decide to join later he tells you that you know where we are.

[Forgive me if a stupid question, I have literally just finished Big Guns on a first full playthrough. I realised I'd now owned the game for 7 years; I should play it!]. I don't own any of the CC (mostly on principle), except the stuff that came with the nextgen "update", a furnishing pack and slocum's. Also neon flats, iirc, but I haven't d/led it yet (I feel "cleaner" stuff in the game is a bit incongruous before I've found the Institute or done Vault 88.
