So I did the math (in a reply to another comment) and it turns out your three model group is actually about the same points cost as the 400-ish caps of Super Mutants. The big difference is that all characters created in the RPG are Heroic (which is worth 60x3 caps in FWW). So if you were deliberately not using it, your survivor group was 180 caps "down" versus the super mutants which is why they had such a tough time of it. If you forgot to use it though, you would have been rolling a blue die at the start of each activation to generate extra AP which could be used on move, attack or expertise quick actions.. each model would generate one critical point each time they hit, in addition to crit points that could come up on the skill dice.. and of course the characters could use their luck tokens :)

Great to see FWW on again, and especially with the very cool mixing in of the RPG and settlement modes. I'm sure I read about them sorting out points for RPG generated characters at some point, which will be cool for balancing.

They have - kind of. In the updated caps price list for FWW, all of the archetypes are listed under the Units section and they are.. pretty cheap. I think if you are balancing an RPG created force against opposing force from the FWW skirmish rules, you need to convert the archetype and perks to their FWW cap costs and add the FWW (not the RPG) equipment costs to get some idea of what your side is actually worth. Sure, it doesn't reflect the improvements you get from XP, though you could always increase the cap cost of an archetype by 1 for each XP gained in the RPG, but personally I wouldn't bother otherwise there is no benefit from progression (a 200 cap survivor force that has 3 66 cap survivors with no xp is no better than a 200 cap force that has 2x 66 cap survivors with 34xp each) So by my reckoning, Ash only had 207 caps worth of FWW forces (71 for Dash, 67 for Mr Handy, 69 for Angel) against almost 400 caps worth (the Super Mutant force comes to 388). The recommended survivor force is also about 390 caps. One thing I think Modiphius should do on all of their scenarios is ensure that the recommended cap limit for each force is clearly stated in addition to the recommend force. After all, it won't always be apparent from the recommended forces if it is an asymmetrical mission or if both sides are meant to be balanced.

Actually my math was a bit wrong. Each hero created in the RPG also has the Heroic ability, which is worth 60 caps in FWW, for a total of 180 caps. That means that.. technically.. the caps cost of Ash's group was 387 which was inline with the Super Mutant group. However, Ash didnt really utilise any of the things the Heroic card gives you (VATS dice, the ability to use Luck and the extra quick action options). I'm not totally sure that the extra AP that might have been generated, and the extra attacks and movement those AP could have been spent on, would have meant the survivor group could have won. But perhaps we will find out next time :)

Cool to see the RPG rules used in the skirmish setting. Adds a lot of extra theme to your characters. Some rules mistakes along the way (I have no idea how you keep so many rules systems in your head in the first place, so this is mostly for other people seeing this) 13:38 Mutant Hound would charge during very first activation of the game as it has "SENSES" 16:23 2 crit meter tokens are earned here. One for hitting and one for the crit result. 18:23 You don't get quick action AP during a reaction 18:35 Quick action move is 2 inches less than normal. 18:37 Hound charge range is blue going down to red, so would have made it with room to spare.

Also at 27:50 I think you may have given the super mutant brute an extra action in there. Charging costs an action and then to actually attack is another action. I keep messing that up too as 40k and malifaux both used to have rules like that where if you charged you also got an attack action.

@@vidalpagan1494 Ah, that's a good point. I was just going off of skirmish rules. I want to pick up the RPG but I'd be worried about this exact scenario with too many rules rattling around in my brain.

Also, around 22-ish minutes, you don't get a free attack with a charge, unless that rule got changed significantly. The hound should get an extra green or black die on his next attack as a result of the charge instead.

In my fallout 3 playthrough i wanted a raider companion so i downloaded a mod for a raider companion named Angel. I played all goody two shoes doesn't want to fight.and she murdered everything that dared show up as hostile. Good times.

Sense of humour baked into this makes me like it over the Call to Arms. Even if it’s a bit bloated in places... Also, building terrain for postapoc game is waaaaaaay easier than fantasy. You can just literally plop random trash on the board and be done.

This was great, but I found it very difficult to follow as you tend to rattle off your speech and have a bit of an American slur. If you could slow down just a little and try not to crash your words into one another, foreigners like me would appreciate it. :)
