We travel to Falls Lake because we can swim from anywhere along the shore. This way I can teach him to swim... guess what!

Good to see you and the puppy enjoying the campground and trails. Be careful of the water. I know here that the blue/green algae is a problem here at some lakes. It's caused the deaths of several dogs here. Thank you for sharing!

Absolutely ! I have seen many careless dog owners not aware of the algae issue. Great Comment !! Hope it is read by everyone ! Thanks!!

The drone footage really brings that map (that you showed in the video) to life. Congrats to Akela on a fine accomplishment.

I definitely will go back anytime I want to go to Raleigh, or maybe even the coast, which is only 2 hours away. I typically drive that when I camp somewhere. Thanks for the comment

Just returned last week from a trip to NC. Drove over to Falls Lake and got to walk a short distance on the Mountain-to-Sea trail. Then drove around part of the lake and drove past Holly Point Campground. Lovely area. Then drove to Boone, NC area for a short stay. Went to Blowing Rock area and stopped at the Moses H Cone Estate and walked around Bass Lake. Hope to do more hiking, site seeing and camping in my Aliner.

Had to laugh at the 5 AM thing. We have 2 dogs and a cat that all get up at that time and want to go out and get fed. The look on your face was priceless. Actually laughed out loud. Guess it's my own fault they get up that early since I used to get up that time before I retired. Oh well. The good thing is that I can go back to sleep after taking care of them since I don't have to go to work anymore. Drone coverage was excellent.

Generally speaking, They learn from positive reinforcement. My niece's dog used to come and try to get her out of bed at 5-6am, she just grabs the dog and cuddles it in a bear hug until she falls back to sleep, the dog has learned its a useless attempt and it results in being trapped. The dog now sleeps until 9am!!

I just drove over/past here on the 3rd of August going to up around your old stomping grounds at Lk. George NY in the Adirondacks. I spent a week on the northern end of the lake in Hague. As I drove over the causeway to Falls Lake, I noticed the lake level and how far down it was. I may look into this area for some Fall camping as it is only about 2 hours north of me. Have fun and be safe.

@@GoingNoWhereFast The bears and I have an understanding, they don't try to kill me and I don't kill them. I am back in NC, at the house early last week. On the topic of bears, I have seen more live, in the face, black bear here (NC) in my old residence's yard than I had ever seen in North Jersey or Upstate. Of course when I called the Wildlife Office they said there weren't any in the Sandhills. About three weeks later, this was several years ago, a large male was shot and killed in Vass NC just down the road. That didn't account for the female with a cub that was at our place and then was seen strolling across a ballfield at the Farmlife K thru 12 school next door. Once on the other side of the road they entered a cornfield and disappeared.

Have you ever used the trailer light switch I gave you and if so, has anyone ever asked about? I use mine all the time at night and have been asked about it frequently. Thanks for the video. It looked like a great camping area.

I'm installing Rock Lights on the Vehicle this week and may add them to the Trailer. Then I'll use the switch a bit more.You are listed on my Website in the "Camping Equipment" Section.

Just trees down, and you can tell where they have done road repair from washouts, but hard to tell it thats from any particular storm or not.

Bathhouse is nice. I'm from the very south end of NC and travel every summer to Kerr Lake. Falls Lake is about 30 min closer. Is it worth the distance in travel savings? Kerr Lake at Satterwhite Point has beach access from the campsites with sand beaches

No Knowing Kerr Lake, it hard to say, but Falls Lake is mighty nice. And was not crowded or cramped at all. Check it out at least once and let me known.

Looking for a place for a week in October. Any idea how the bugs and weather at that time of year? Nice to see there’s no leash laws for my pup on the trails too! Thanks in advance
@GoingNoWhereFast
@GoingNoWhereFast 2 ай бұрын
Bugs aren't bad in October. If it gets really warm and wet for a week you may see a few, but nothing like during the hot dry summer days of July! And you are supposed to have your dog on leash. We just take a few liberties when there is no one around to bother.
