I love the Uber statement, saying 1) they've moved from an era of confrontation. That 2) driver earnings are at/near all time highs. And that 3) in the UK Uber drivers get workers' rights. 1) is because they have finished using the violence to get their feet in the doors. 2) is just economic prestidigitation (total earnings per driver (or driver hour) adjusted for inflation would be a reasonable looking measure. Just piling up all the fees and ignoring inflation is not honest. 3) This is true, but only because they were obliged to by UK law, or else quit operations altogether. And only in the UK. Big deal.

I can't say anything about other countries, but in the US, where Uber started, taxi services were corrupt local monopolies that gave terrible service at high prices, and that was true for me in New York, Michigan, Illinois, and Massachusetts. Dispatcher regularly lied to you about how long it would take to get a cab, and cab driver didn't care if someone else jumped into the cab you waited an hour for. But if we just tarnish all corporations with the same brush I think it actually helps organisations with the loosest governance get away with more delinquency under the guise of ‘everybody behaves this way’ and ‘this is normal’. This is not a new thing. Political parties around the world have been doing this since the dawn of time.

The amount of effort in trying to minimize their horrible actions is astounding, and I am not talking about Mark MacGann, he did the right thing by coming forward, I am talking about Uber, that, in an attempt to discredit his statements is saying things like "everyone knows what we have done, there is even a TV series, we are not like that anymore so shut up".
@happyguy2012 жыл бұрын
He came forward and what? He made his fortune knowing it's a lie. He still living off that salary. The only right thing he should do is give that money he made away or donate it. People like him exploit workers and drivers at every opportunity and make money out of it. He is no victim the drivers are the victims of Uber.

I'm not on Uber side but on the ride-sharing platform side. The taxi union or the government that runs the taxi registration is ineffective and the quality is bad and expensive. When these ride sharing platforms enter the market it helps drive the competition and increase the quality. Now the taxi operator in my home country has a CCTV camera and panic button, cleaner car and a newer car because they were forced to compete

What a joke, we all gonna pretend now that Taxi's aren't a mafia as well?
@cliffhackett4202 жыл бұрын
How are taxi’s a mafia you fool licensed and regulated by authorities and abide by the law to safeguard their livelihoods… Uber drivers on the other hand just download a app use a satnav and in some places mabe buy a minicab license which equals lack of respect for their job roll due to ridiculous easy entry into a trade which has a important role of keeping passengers safe & from my experience Uber drivers are dangerous
@unatrader1082 жыл бұрын
@@cliffhackett420 You must be a cabby. Rotten industry it is. Heres why. I can never get a cabby license because they are all owned by the mafia that is your boss, unless you are one of the rare ones who owns a licence, then I understand why you get offended by the truth. But if your a cabby, your the fool pretending its a noble trade like a firefighter, Get outta here.

@happyguy2012 жыл бұрын
He made his money knowingly they were wrong. And also he is still living off that salary he earned by being part of that lie. If he is genuine than he should give it away or donate that money he doesn't own that money. The only victims are the drivers who get exploited.
