This thing in Pokemon Conquest vas a monster. Dragon Rage dealing 40HP when your starting Pokemon had 20-30HP at most [and dealing 5-10 per hit] was an absolute game breaker

0:53 The episode afaik was banned because of Kaiser's irresponsible use of guns (threatening to shoot Ash with finger on the trigger and then actually firing at Team Rocket), not necessarily for just containing guns. In multiple episodes before this, guns were featured and allowed to be shown in dubbed versions, such as when an Officer Jenny holds a firearm in The Kangaskhan Kid episode. Just wanted to bring this up because 4kids has a notorious reputation for questionable censorship.

Then Niigata prefecture was hit with a massive earthquake days before release and they had to emergency cut it to not be rude. After that was a mandate to not show EQ/Magnitude in episodes. Japan's in the middle of 4 tectonic plates, one bisecting the country, they have earthquakes a lot.

@@SongbirdOfficial Yes Japan is prone to natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunamis but while those disasters are tragic they're often used as an excuse to ban and/or pull episodes altogether (i.e. BW 23-24), which is frustrating and has never made any sense to me. It reminds me of the GS Ball and Porygon and its episode/evolution tree (different circumstance but still) where when they couldn't figure out what to do with them they just decided to hope fans would just forget about them. Delays are one thing, removals and bans are another.

My first shiny. Got it from the Game Corner in GSC. Because shinys weren't known at all, I didn't know why it sparkled. I literally thought it was because it was a Dragon type because of the red Gyarados. Then, I realized Gyarados wasn't a Dragon type and came to realize that my Dratini was special. By the way, yes, I was 9 and GSC had just debuted. I'm old.

@@adambryant4149 Zapdos has an amazing move poll with Roost, Defog, Volt Switch, Heat Wave, Thunder + Hurricane + Weather Ball on Rain teams. It also has pretty good bulk and a good ability in Static + the move Discharge to spread Paralysis. So, Zapdos can run a variety of sets and can either be a late-game sweeper in Rain or it can run defensive utility. Thundurus by comparison doesn't really have better utility and isn't as bulky, and while it does have Nasty Plot, it requires very good team support to ensure it can set up, in which case there are better options for a set-up sweeper. It's also in UUBL.

It's always sad to me when some of these Pokemon have an amazing first couple of generations then just gets stuffed because everything just got super power crept or became directly bad for it like Fairy Type existing in Gen 6 for Dratini. Terhe have been a couple of these recently where the Mon started off strong then just didn't have what it took after like 1 or maybe 2 generations

Sadly, it's WAY more than a couple. If you flip through FSG's videos, then "started sstrong and got powercrept into ZU" is, like, 80% of the stories. The other 20% is Pokemon who were never good to begin with.

Even though this analysis picks up in Gen 4, I first remember learning to fear Dratini/Dragonair back in the old Stadium days. If it didn't use Dragon Rage, it could get a Freeze from Ice Beam and you'd be screwed, especially the Fisher in Pika Cup Round 2 with a Dragonair that had Ice Beam, Dragon Rage, Wrap, AND Thunder Wave.

Interesting to note that Dratini isnt the only Dragon type to fall of the face oif the earth in LC after gen 6, literally all of them did. There's a small pool of Dragons to begin with and when they're all blanked by the same eviolite Snubbull or Spritzee on almost every team and can't do much to mons like Bronzor either, there's virtually no reason to run any of them

It would have helped bridge the gap if you were just short or you wanted to close a remaining difference. Even if you discount carrying tons of unused Rock Smash Star Pieces and Battle Frontier Nuggets, your Mom's savings leave you well set.

I remember ever since I had my first Pokémon game, Pokémon Crystal Dratini was also my most sought after Pokémon. There was always something mystical about Dragon types that did not exist in other types of Pokémon. That was before Fairy types showed up and nerfed them.

Having one's fine because team rocket had rifles in other episodes, pointed a gun at ash, and there dozens if not hundreds of ones with some sort of RPG launcher. Actually firing at people seems to be what did it.

Both yes and no. Bagon had it's niche in XY LC due to Sheer Force, but sadly it got pummeled like Dratini after that. Axew suffered the same issues, but at least it could be used as a late-game sweeper in both XY and SM LC. It couldn't keep in SS LC. Funnily enough, apart from Fairy types, the other reason they weren't used as much is because of their competition for a team slot with Tyrunt, which had similar moves plus slightly better stats, secondary Rock typing, and obviously Stealth Rock.

@@sosams Okay, the question actually should be raised. *If LC is basically one giant game of detonating the opposing side with as many nuclear warheads as possible, why do you even need Entry Hazards?!* It's not like much of anything actually bothers with anything that isn't Speed and Offense. And the things that do still get overwhelmed either way from raw, brute force.

Dartini is my baby i always had one when i did Gen 1 and was always sad when i fully evolved it. When i first played i expected after dragonair to get a more feathered serpent and was crushed when it became dragonite instead.

No, that hasn't been the case for a long time as they want the comments to be focused on the video topic itself rather than a bunch of requests. They switched over to the community tab for requests but I'm not sure they're even still taking requests outside of Patreon.

In Stadium, Dratini in Petit Cup can be pretty busted with 2 words- Dragon Rage. It can also pack Wrap for even more brokenness- Wrap an opponent into submission and then blast them with Dragon Rage once they’re in KO range.

Give it a more reliable steel type move, we absolutely need more of them anyway (especially on the physical side, where the only decent one, without having a specific stat being high or low, that can be more widely used is iron tail...)

when i was a little kid, my mom and i both played my copy of Silver together. she had spent hours grinding to get the dratini to a dragonair. only for me to then trade it for a rhydon. She was so annoyed xD

I honestly like dratini and dragonair more than I like dragonite Also I would like to see a video on Musharna,it somehow grew on me but I'm not sure how to use it

Addendum: Dratini is B Rank in GSC ZU for being a mixed attacker with great coverage and paralysis support. Dratini's boltbeam coverage and ability to spread status helps it dismantle popular FWG cores in GSC ZU. After that, Dratini has never been seen in lower tier play, almost entirely overshadowed by Dragonair due to the large increases in the number of Pokemon available relative to the size of tiers which would hold them.

One time in Pokemon red in the Safari zone I was fishing and I found a Dratini and I was trying to catch it and Dratini ran away one time in leaf green I was fishing a Dragonair and I caught it.
