I think that stalling for struggle and and chip damage is an acceptable strategy, but timer stalling is disgusting. It's the video game equivalent of making frivolous patents or lawsuits.
@Marcusjnmc4 жыл бұрын
timer stalling is just a good way to convert knocking out 3 pokemon & being vs a pokemon that can't exert any pressure at all into a win, ie. it beats stall, it also promotes more aggressive pokemon and defensive teams that rely more on tactically out positioning the opponent with switches & mutual support across a team rather than gimmicks I really like what it does to the state of the competitive game in general , promoting critical decisions turn by turn influencing the outcome of a game and reducing gradual set up gimmicks of all kinds, it feels good to win using it & losing to it feels like you've been outplayed if you're playing while being aware of it rather than disregarding it, which is why on the winning side in a very competitive match it feels good to win with, because if your opponent's aware of the timer too you won by outplaying them, I also love seeing top players outplay one another that way, because it's very tactical and usually incredibly well played. every time VGCs removed timer win condition it's made those messed up 50 min round timer win stall situations full of gimmicks a thing, as well as incredibly slow recover/stat boost set ups where you just recover/set up move/recover/set up move/recover/attack/recover/attack become relevant , which can get pretty boring as a spectater & pretty silly as a player, it's often decided by whether or not the set up pokemon gets crit at a bad time
@oodogla3 жыл бұрын
@@Marcusjnmc I think the original comment meant that purposely stalling the timer instead of making your move is bad, but the timer itself is good because it discourages endless stall.
@Marcusjnmc3 жыл бұрын
@@oodogla purposely stalling the timer instead of making your move & then making the move a few seconds before turn timer ends is how a timer is used to beat stall, it moves the goalpost stall is playing for dozens of turns deep into a game out of reach, there's a meme that cropped up when the timer was moved to your time over combined total time where a player clicked stall moves on a chansey & blissey as fast as they could so that after 60+ turns of stall the opponent would run out of their assigned time while the stall team had time left to continue quickly pressing moves. It was a very silly meme but it accurately portrays the differing influence of a joint timer & individual timer on stall teams in the game of pokemon.

In the early days of Pokemon Go, you would often see gyms stuffed full of like, 9 Chanseys and Blisseys. All those damage sponges made Pokemon Go gyms almost impossible to flip. They had to completely rework how gyms work to stop it: now you can't put two of the same Pokemon in a gym. But even now, every gym *still* has a Blissey and a Chansey in.
