I liked the wording of the son punishing the parents for "a mistake they made seven years ago." It IS a mistake, but it wasn't just made seven years ago, it was one made every moment for seven years, a seven-year-long mistake. Big difference.

Yeah, I agree, except I wouldn't call it a mistake. A mistake is something someone does without being aware of how they're acting. If I am helping my wife with cooking and I somehow end up accidentally cutting her in the finger while we're both cutting up some vegetables or something, then that is a mistake. What his parents did wasn't a mistake, it was a conscious choice to kick him out of their lives for good. Now they have to live with the consequences of their actions, no matter if they call it a "mistake" or "accident" or whatever else.

I've read worse. There was one in which a son was accused by his cousin (15 at the time) of SAing her when she was a child, and he was excommunicated by the rest of his family immediately. They contacted him 9 years later telling him that they learned a month prior that it turned out the the cousin had made up the story. It's bad enough that his life was hell and had to go through therapy, but I think it's worse that his parents did not believe him.

OP kind of hinted at how that may have been the case. He wasn't spoiled the way his sister was, and it sounds like they may have been a bit harsher to him as well, which gave him a reality check early on in life. You don't want to make life too easy for your kids, or they will grow up to be narcissists like this guy's sister and parents, and/or they will lack in maturity and not have the strength to stand on their own when they are adults. Ideally, life should be difficult but not too difficult while growing up.

@joseosorio17 no, he should not. Best revenge is simply being happy, worst revenge is bringing drama to a happy day. Why spoil the day of love by seeing their faces? Plus they probably would yell at him and need to be escorted and cause drama (that he would always remember while thinking of his wedding day that should be about him and his wife) + they would totally bring the sister with them and who knows what she can do and what she can destroy. Spending any time of this wonderful day on them is a waste of time anyway, they don't worth the attention But my main point is... from this story it seems like op doesn't have any other relatives? At least he only mentioned his friends that helped him and that his only family is his wife so there no real point in making a scene cause it could be that they'll be embarrassed in front of people they don't know and don't care about and who knows that op went no contact with his family? So it's not like they'll be disowned or judged by the relatives and it'll just make them angry and sister already annoyed him with the calls and going to his house, they know where he lives This family doesn't deserve any energy of his and this "revenge" can have consequences

Honestly Abandoned over a lie Sucks, but depending on the lie and how convincing it is, understandable and forgivable once the truth comes out. (Like if OP had been accused of being a p*d*phile r*pist, with forged testimony, and the OP having weak defences/ no alibi). but the Misdeed OP was accused of (covering for cheating), in no way merits the severity of the punishment (immediate expulsion from the home and no contact for 5+ years). Like I'm imagining this scenario playing out between my brothers where I am told the tale that B covered up for A's wife's cheating. I would be really dissappointed in him, and might go low contact. but I wouldn't go to NO contact over this.
@CD-vb9fi
@CD-vb9fi 6 ай бұрын
Yep, this "behavior" is common for humans. You can see it everywhere It is summed up in a phrase that reads "it is easier to fool people than it is to convince them that they have been fooled." Truth makes a lot of people upset for that reason because the moment they "accept" that truth, they have to also accept they did something wrong. And since that is hard for narcissists to do...

Contraception isn't foolproof, unfortunately, as evidenced by statistics and shows like "I didn't know I was pregnant". Being unexpectedly pregnant and still having the baby is very common, too. Maybe they thought they'd have the emotional, mental, and financial resources to take care of a second child but realized later on that they lacked one or more of those. And it's not always easy to find help when you're struggling as parents - assuming they even realized they were struggling more than usual. So far, so common. I can't really blame them up until that point, and it sounds like OP didn't either. Please don't be so quick to judge parents of unplanned children. Most of them are really doing what they can. But the rest of this particular story, yeah, that's f*d Up, I totally agree.

If police trespass on your property, any and all evidence they find should be treated as no more than fabrication. That law is specifically built to prevent corruption, and is the basis of any functional legal system. If illegally obtained can be submitted to court, that would incentivize illegal searches and seizures by both citizens and officers of the law. It is also entirely irrelevant here, because no evidence was obtained illegally. It is very easy to obtain all evidence needed for a case through legal means. If you need to trespass to obtain evidence, you don't have the grounds to even accuse someone.

No one apologized for that. Had no reason to reach out until the TRUTH was revealed. "No Hannah, YOU'RE the monster." Express some rage, hate!! Even if thats not how you actually feel, act like it is. Tear her down to her core, burn into her mind that she will never get anything from you. Instead you let her ring you 14 whole times before threatening police??? Laughed at your parents message but all you said was "no, not interested" rather than "you are just as guilty for how severely i got screwed over with no apology. You are just as to blame for Hannah's misbehavior as she is bc you spoiled her rotten. You are all scum." HURT THEIR DAMN FEELINGS. PISS THEM OFF. BRUISE THEIR EGOS. CALL THEM OUT AND AIR THAT DIRTY LAUNDRY OR THEY AINT EVER GONNA LEAVE YOU ALONE. Not until theyre bored but theyll come back when they need money or elder care. Dont just leave a bridge like this behind. TORCH IT. Acting shocked that "blood" can do that when thats not surprising at all. Everyone is scared of confrontation, self expression, or both. Sometimes rudeness is compassionate, why tolerate their delusions when theyre dead to you anyway? Why spare their entitled feelings if youre going NC? Especially when they dont care about your feelings whatsoever. It's not like speaking a rude truth is "lowering down to their level." This riled me up.

This story is a perfect example why you shouldn't immediately take sides after accusations are made until the full story comes out. It's a lot similar to when a woman accuses an innocent man of sexual assualt or impregnating her because immediately everyone will take her side because it's her word over a man's. False accusations have motives like in the story where the sister didn't want to get kicked out because of her affair so she falsely accused her brother for causing the divorce and with the SA/impregnating accusations are to either to get something out of the man or purposely ruin his life. False accusations can ruin an innocent person's life.

@@tenjenk you just may never know who's telling the truth when the accusations are made. You shouldn't believe anything until there's evidence that proves who's inthe right. A lot of innocent men fall victim to these sorts of accusations because the courts normally would favor the woman over the man until proven otherwise. Because of stuff like this it makes real accusations look bad. People just want take advantage of others

@@edgarjimenez6209 Yes this is important, but again, the justice system see's most actual rape cases never see justice. A few sensationalist news articles come out but the vast majority of rapes ever see any action by cops, let along reach the point where they do their jobs long enough for the proof to languish in evidence lockers, and whatever makes it past that gets shot down. This counts for all rape victims of any age, gender or demograph. But yeah, your main point is correct, the greater matter is not to hold bias in either way, be diligent, have appropriate fair responses (disowning him for introducing the friend, as far as they knew? wat?!) and discovering the actual details. Otherwise it always tips the scales in the wrong direction and makes getting it right just pure happenstance.
