The only ABC soap produced on the west coast. Young and the Restless, Capitol, and Days of Our Lives were also California soaps in 1982.

In early 1982, the ABC affiliate (WTAE) in Pittsburgh aired The Edge of Night at 10:30 am right after General Hospital which came on at 9:30 am. In the fall of 1982, GH started airing at 3 pm on WTAE. The Edge of Night moved to WPTT (now WPNT) at this time as well. WPTT was an independent station at the time. WTAE started airing Donahue at 9 am right after Good Morning America. WTAE started airing GMA for the full 2 hours (7-9 am) instead of 1 hour (7-8 am). Just like the ABC affiliate in L.A. had AM Los Angeles, WTAE had AM Pittsburgh which aired from 8-9:30 am prior to fall 1982. In the fall of '82, AM Pittsburgh moved to 10 am and was cut back from 90 minutes to 60 minutes. WTAE stopped airing EON in fall 1982.

The whole affiliate thing with ABC was such a mess with all the different times. That is what killed us more than anything else.

Am annoyed that my ABC affiliate WPVI aka 6ABC didn't air EDGE (instead independent UHF station WKBS aired EDGE for some time on a 2 week delay at 1030am for crying out loud). Am imagining people watching this back in the day who either didn't know where EDGE was airing and/or having no access to a VCR thinking "who are these people"?
