I actually met her about 25 years ago. I worked for an upscale furniture store in Pasadena while going to college and she bought this nice handmade wooden bench and I delivered it. She asked for it to be delivered, we notified her what time the delivery would be but when I showed up she was surprised, and a bit scared that some stranger was knocking on her door.

Being a woman it is a bit creepy to have a daytime host kiss every single woman that ever comes on the show. What if you didn't want it? Why doesn't he make it fair and kiss the guys too and bring them a gift? It makes for an uncomfortable moment and I've seen a few. Since he is the only host to do this and get away with it for years then why wouldn't a bunch of other hosts do the same thing? Just because you can get away with something doesn't make it right. The guys always stand there looking stupid and uncomfortable and try to avert their eyes or they actually stare and witness the kiss but awkward and uncomfortable for sure even on the males part. Half of the first part of the show is taken up with him kissing and flirting with every woman. And some say Robin Williams was creepy for his behavior. It's such a shame that things like this don't come up until someone passes. I love Richard Dawson, he was a great actor a great show host and was very knowledgeable and was very comedic but that doesn't excuse his dirty flirty kissy behavior. Men are not women so it's impossible for them to understand our point of view and where we come from and how we feel. Just like some women prefer women doctors because they can understand a woman's body way better than a male can, that's why some people prefer women nurses over males because women are the ones that get pregnant carry the baby and have babies we are more maternal naturally some say men are better drivers and so on. When Doling out advice or telling someone how you feel about a particular subject, it is always going to be easier to understand the same sex versus the opposite sex with certain subjects. Now there's always going to be an exception to the rule but we are not talking about that. Creepy behavior is creepy behavior. No host who wants to keep working would try to pull something like that off in today's world. They would not be able to get away with it. Rules were much more relaxed back then. I watched Dawson give a guy crap because he was married and flirting with another woman that he was playing against but yet here's Dawson kissing every woman and flirting with every woman who ever comes on his show married, single or gay. Just a bit hypocritical. He said he was single but that's not the point he just shouldn't flirt with every single woman that comes on the show like a horny teenager and kiss each one and give each one flowers. He might be single but he's doing all this to married women. That's a double standard if I ever saw one. Why is he getting on someone else's case for flirting with a married woman when he's the one kissing and giving flowers to every married woman that he comes across? That's what I think people have a problem with is his hypocritical sense.

@@sherryoneal1740 except, they wouldn't go on the show if they didn't want a kiss from Richard. It was his thing, to treat contestants as if they were guests in his home, because it was kind of his home. It was the 60s, he was young, good-looking and charming....it's what you did. They even drank. It was a different time. Anyone who didn't want to be kissed, didn't write asking to audition for the show.
@sherryoneal1740 Жыл бұрын
@@JordanS215 how could you possibly know that? Were you there? Did you personally hear these conversations? Did you read every submission written in that stated they wanted to be kissed? I know what you're saying is wrong because I have seen the awkward moments when people don't want to be touched or kissed. Just because you want to go on a TV show does not mean that you automatically say to everyone without being asked that you want the host to touch or kiss you. I have seen women pull away from his touch or from being kissed so your statement is untrue.
@JordanS215 Жыл бұрын
@@sherryoneal1740 yes, I was there. He explained it in many interviews, why he started kissing, and he was HUGELY famous and beloved as charming and handsome. Very beloved since Hogan's Heroes. I saw all of the Matchgame, too, as did all his fans. It was completely acceptable to kiss someone of the opisite sex, the way he kissed, unless one person was black.... which Richard did anyway, because he wasn't just the host of the show. It was HIS, and he did alot of good with it, giving record amounts to charities. And, yes, all of America knew that a kiss from Richard, AND ITS MOTIVATION, was included if you applied for an audition. Since it was very, very, very difficult to get an audition to be on the show, nevermind actually get on it, there was a waiting list. If you didn't want a kiss, then you didn't go on the show🙄 You're projecting creepiness onto him. They actually would hang onto him, to ease their nervousness, and you're turning it ugly with modern BS. As a survivor, I can tell you 100% that Richard had NO creepiness in his vibe at all. And, it was THE 1960s &70s FFS! Were YOU there? Obviously not, since you're tuning very puckered, toddler kisses into something sexual.

I was so glad to hear Richard Dawson correct Florence Henderson, and tell her not to pray and invoke God's help with something as inconsequential as a game show. I've always found it sacrilegious and ridiculous when people pray about something that matters so little as a sports event, and a game show falls in the same category. Richard Dawson is clearly a serious and deeply spiritual person.
@sherryoneal1740 Жыл бұрын
We are Americans we are free we have the right to pray for whatever reason we want to. That's our god-given right we fought for that right and we deserve that right. Who are you to tell anyone who to pray to or about? God says to love everyone no matter what. Forgive those who trespass against us? Right? Just because someone differs from your belief doesn't make it wrong. If that were true we wouldn't be able to use the lord's name in vain on television and in movies. That's blasphemy but I don't see you saying anything about that. Why can we get away with this? Because we live in the US OF A, the freedom country of the world. We are allowed to. There is no right or wrong way to pray. There is no right or wrong reason to pray. God will love you anyway and that's what you should be focused on. Joining together not dividing. Besides this was for CHARITY! Nothing wrong with praying for God's help in winning money for Charity purposes. Good for Florence for sticking up for her beliefs. At the end I think even Mr. Dawson understood that LOL

Richard Dawson first started kissing women because in the very beginning there was a contestant that was so nervous so Mr Dawson kissed her on the cheek and she calmed right down and was able to continue the show. He said he kissed the women for luck. While you were waiting to go on the show a producer would come by and ask the female family members if they wouldn't mind if Mr. Dawson gave them a kiss. Not everyone had to agree. Apparently Mr. Dawson would not kiss anyone who didn't want it. I have seen a few people that didn't want to be touched or kissed by him react in a negative way because believe it or not not everybody wants to be touched or kissed by someone they don't know. I'm guessing he would give the women flowers as a symbol of decency and respect. I have even witnessed on some of these shows Mr Dawson kissing men on occasion. I've even seen one guy ask for a kiss because he felt left out. Mr Dawson obliged. I understand that back then this was so-called acceptable behavior. Today this Behavior would be kind of creepy. It would be less creepy for me today watching this from back then if Mister Dawson would do something for the men as well as the women and not just single out the women. I'm just glad that it was only one host that decided to do this type of thing and it came from a good place but still just a little creepy. Remember Mono? The kissing disease? You could get Mono from kissing someone on the lips without using your tongue because your tongue licked your lips either before or during or after kissing someone. I think they said Mr Dawson had kissed over 20,000 women. Think about that for a second and tell me that doesn't sound just a little creepy? Even if the reason he started kissing was for a decent reason that many women being kissed in his career is maybe I think why people think it's just a little creepy. I mean can you imagine if it was a woman host that kissed all the men contestants on her show? For the same reasons? There is no way in hell a woman would get away with that without being called a host of names in the negative. So why would they let a man get away with that behavior but not a woman? Joan Rivers I think was the first prime-time woman to start hosting in 1986. Now can you imagine if she started kissing all of her male guests? To calm them down? Granted men don't exactly act like women do but I'm trying to find a similar scenario. Anywho it would be unacceptable behavior from a woman but from a man we're just expected to accept it. That's where the creepiness comes in as well. Men were allowed to get away with stuff that women never would. Mostly because women wouldn't act like that but in this case is coming from a good place but I guarantee you that a woman would not be able to do what Richard Dawson did and have it be acceptable behavior. That's all I'm trying to say. I am not in any shape way or form saying that Richard Dawson was creepy or a creepy man because he wasn't. A little creepy by kissing over 20,000 contestants on his show? Absolutely. Again thinking of Mono and you don't know everybody's hygiene practices. ......
