Apparently he is saying we are going to come across a junction of four roads, where two roads travel along next to each other while another one crosses straight across both, and apparently he is saying that we will also come across a highway that travel straight through it at a 45* angle which luckily in this case makes the direction obvious as it could only have two directions and we already know it's going to be the one opposite to us. From what he is saying I can only presume we are on one of the parallel roads from his description and that the bisecting 45* degree road is going through the junction either on our right or left and that the same road must cross at a similar 45* angle at some point in front of us. Solving for X doesn't apply as no specific equation was given nor a particular angle, area, or distance. It's mathematical mumbo jumbo is what I'm saying.

This is my major problem with TV show writers who make jokes about math - many TV show writers got into writing because they hated math in school. They just write gibberish made of terms you'd learn in grade 5 and they think it's a funny joke :c Compare to the simpsons/futurama where the writers actually have math degrees. They've made jokes about the millionth digit of pi (and actually calculated that far, a computer in the early 90's did it for them and they were mailed the full list) and in one episode of futurama dealing with body swaps, the writers actually got a legitimate paper published dealing with how they solved the question in the show, and even put the proof on prof. farnsworth's blackboard.

The guys who produce Family Guy are extremely talented, no doubt about that, but it is clear they are not particularly good at maths because their 'maths jokes' are very basic and fail to sound genuinely complicated, instead they're just nonsensical. Whereas, like you said, in the Simpsons the maths jokes are genuinely funny because the writers, many being mathematicians, know maths.

So... There is a line AD with B and C colinear with AD (letter arrive in alphabetical order). At point B, there is a line, BE (giggity), such that BE is perpendicular to AD. We can let point E also be along line CE. CE is a line that bisects BD at C such that angle BCE is 45 degrees. BCE is an isosceles right triangle. All principle angles in the polygon can be discovered. The length of CD is equal to the length of BC and BE. There is not enough information to determine the length of AB. The graph is not Euler.

The thing about mathematics is that it’s the best way to make anything cut-and-dry. Literally math is a building block and a universal language any sentient being can use. Granted I hate math with a burning passion and I believe most Mathematicians are soulless problem solvers with very little humanity. However my opinions are my own, but I respect math as a unsung hero to problem solving and creating a foundation. As a science major I can tell you most math I use is conversions of units of measurement and temperature and I struggle with math severely mainly geometry which is pure aids. Basically you use math everyday it just varies. Kids learn math please pay attention Jesus Christ I regret not paying attention, you’ll end up in a low level course with some robotic foreigner teaching you shit you should’ve learned in high school. This concludes my rant! -Love your friendly neighborhood health care provider.

@runstarhomer27548 ай бұрын
"I believe most Mathematicians are soulless problem solvers with very little humanity." I know you're probably joking, but the exact opposite is true. I enjoy math because solving problems is satisfying, but I love mathematics because it is, honestly, the most beautiful thing that anybody could ever possibly imagine. There are a million flaws in the way we present math to young students, the biggest of which is that we spend the first 5-6 years of math education doing practically nothing other than arithmetic, and we tell them they're doing math. Nobody likes arithmetic, but that's not really math, there's no problem solving, no logic, just an algorithm to memorize. By the time students actually get to learn some real math, they've already decided they hate it, which is tragic because they haven't even been exposed to what mathematics really is. And even when they do get exposed to some more interesting concepts, students are rarely asked to think critically and work things out. Teachers hand out formulas and shortcuts like candy, and reduce the rich and beautiful universe of mathematics into a list of facts to memorize. It's shameful, and it's created generations of people who not only are uninterested in math, but are actually actively averse to it.
