@@abcdefg-wv5nt I'm male and I can't... Like, with literally anyone I can't... 🙄 I don't think the story here is unrealistic since I think it's more like people are people and they are each different, and those generalizations create unfair stereotypes and overly high expectations on what guys should live up to be that some guys can't even reach, because they were simply made in a different way, because they're a different person...
@larrykoopa64dshacker643 жыл бұрын
@@abcdefg-wv5nt Doesn't change the fact that people used that generalization among many others to ruin my own life by either expecting too much out of me or automatically labeling me with something I never did and never would do, because I'm a guy, and guys do this. Seeing that generalization brought up always gives me high levels of stress about society. (Wish I was born a girl instead and lived with much lower expectations and not disappointing anyone with the way my body turned out, or anything I do being behind everyone else) Then people wonder why I've grown up to be so dang uppity about gender stereotypes after constantly pushing them on me. Also I feel like that generalization would be the case because either most guys give in to the way society stereotypes them or they don't want to admit it if they aren't strong because it makes them "less manly" or some bullcrap like that. (Because of the standard expectation on what a man should be, people are, and always have been disappointed in me for a variety of reasons, such as my short "womanly" adult height (the fact I was just sort of always lagging behind in height when I was younger which especially became noticeable when I was a preteen, then grew up to have a "womanly" height), my extremely light weight, my weak muscles, my skinny build, the fact I never gain weight, the fact I never get stronger, the fact I've always been much behind every classmate I had back when I was going to school in any and all gym related stuff, yes, that includes the girls, for example, everyone else could throw normally but when I did it just resulted in this disappointingly weak throw and I don't even know how, and in high school, there would be a girl student kinda close to my height, mostly a little taller, and she'd say how she's so light at 120 pounds while I was always mostly around the 90s or just barely under or just barely above 100, although most girls were way taller than me and weighed much more than 120, and same with most guys compared to me) Giving into the stereotypes of society and trying to live up to such generalizations about men will always result in disappointment from others because I should "do better" because I'm "a man" and I need to "man up" and be like other men. That abuse from others over that sexist bullshit got so tiresome that by high school I started telling people so what if I'm short and weak, and then they started turning around going all "Oh, no, you misunderstood, don't worry, you'll keep growing till your 21, because you're a man and all men keep growing till they're 21, you didn't stop growing at late 15" (fast forward to now where I'm 20 years and 4 months old and still the same height, unless I have some unrealistically large and fast growth spurt that makes me grow up to be 6 feet like they were claiming by 21 I'm pretty sure I'm at my adult height) or "No, you're not weak, you're just like any other man, you, only 5 feet tall and between the 90s and early 100s in weight? You're as strong of a man as that 6 foot giant over there that is over 200 pounds, he complains about the same things as you by the way" and the abuse I got from people expecting all these standard generalizations from me, because I'm a man, is far from all the abuse I got for being a manlet instead of a proper man (in context with how I use manlet, I don't think the definition people use it for makes sense, any guy under 6 feet being a manlet makes no sense to me so I think of a manlet as a short guy at 5 and a half feet and under) or just over my own sex in general. (They also negatively stereotype guys to be the one to do something stupid and back when I was in school, some student would do something stupid and all the guys, including me, would be punished, even though they should know better, because I explain to them multiple times I JUST wouldn't do this stupid thing or that stupid thing yet because I'm a man, to them, of course I would) Although I feel like I'm getting way too personal and venting way too much here, so I'll end my problems at this. But just saying simply seeing people talk about those generalizations, with a seemingly sarcastic attitude over the way the story was written seeming "unrealistic" to them because of how it was written, unless I'm getting all the wrong ideas, then thinking that seems to be implied triggers my bad memories and makes me get defensive.

@@larrykoopa64dshacker64 I'm a man as well and you remind me of myself, I'm actually a femboy so all this society stuff about "being a man" really annoys me as well. All I can say is I hope you're doing ok, it took me a while to get over society's expectations and I understand how you feel.

@@DoctorMaus Society's expectations, they're so annoying. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever get over the expectations, and as it is, I'd say I'm doing alright I guess, although I'm going through a lot of things that are hurting me. It does make me feel better a bit to know someone else out there understands how I feel instead of reinforcing the same things about how I'm wrong because "biological facts" which annoys the heck out of me, because becoming stronger for other people around me was literally impossible, I always remained the same, and at this point, just want peace with who I am.

@@larrykoopa64dshacker64 I'm happy that I made you feel better and you should never change yourself for someone else. I tried but i became depressed and later realised that I was doing it for them not me. From then I started to learn who I was and eventually stopped caring about society as much.

And alas, people take abusive relationships less seriously when the man's the victim. I absolutely hate to be the 'omg dis comment lolz' type but since my own comment within this section was probably unseen: The original comment wasn't very thought out. I first want to say that, yes, Quagmire has done heinous shit throughout all Family Guy series and even I will admit he had it coming. But the episode was still trying to show some kinda message-same with the one about Quagmire's sister being beaten by her boyfriend. And yes, I am very aware that Family Guy will be Family Guy with its edgy humor and it's what makes me re-watch the show (especially its older seasons). My sympathies go out to the *real life men*-not Quagmire-who are abused in relationships and are often laughed at and ridiculed, even though if he struck back, he could easily be prosecuted by the law if his bitch abuser decided to play innocent.

@@elliereppe9021 absolutely, but there are people in this world who say otherwise. If a man comes forward about any kind of abuse he's labelled as weak and less of a man for letting it happen to him. Hence why people believe men can't be abused.
