On top of being funny, this is quotable just often enough to keep it in everyone's memory. Whenever there's a mystery option anywhere, all you have to say is "A boat's a boat, but…", and everyone follows along. That just happened to me and some friends a few weeks ago. Consider if you will... some game theory: You can choose between a gurenteed boat. But it has all the downsides too. You have to pay to harbor it, maintain it, etc. But a mystery box, it could be anything, there is potentially infinite value in there. So with a fixed value of a boat or an infinite possible value of what is in the box, the only logical answer is to pick the box.
