I would actually plant in the walkway cracks - herbs like creeping thyme, oregano, marjoram, violets, etc. Getting those established would keep out weeds. I feel that the mortar would crack and still allow weeds to grow.

Great idea! Wherever u find grubs u will have burrowing animals like skunks (they love grubs) so planting strong smelling plants like rosemary, thyme, lavender repels them + go figure skunks hate strong smells! 🦨🐾

Maybe if he lifted the stones up & put mortar under them? But then that would be heaps of more back-breaking work & he has so much more to do ....but the pungent herbs are a great idea! I used to plant marigolds on the borders of my garden to keep out the bad insects too.

Iam sure she wishes there were people who could help Her son with all this heavy work. The soil you collected is most likely leaf mold that takes about 18 months to decompose into a form of compost. Leaf mold is beneficial because trees draw up minerals that are deep in the soil that are beneficial to trees, and other plants. This makes gardening a lot easier because you are more likely to be able to grow your fruits and vegetables with little to no additives into your garden other than nitrogen.

Great Video! I noticed, just as you were discovering the water spring, that there is a bit of an opening at the bottom of the stone going up the mountain behind you, and some of the stones just above and aroung that opening look specially placed, as if someone outlined the opening just behind where you found the water. (You may be able to see what I'm talking about better by running the video back.) Could this be a spring they lined with rocks to use as their water source many years ago, and possibly time, leaves and rain wash filled it in? You probably figure it all out in Part 2, but I was just wondering. Fantastic job on that walkway...VERY professional looking! I loved Heather's delighted reaction! Belated Buona Pasqua!

I responded to someone who made a similar comment in an earlier video ...Heidi was my favorite novel as a child too! And yes, the very first video I saw of them on this property in Italy, it reminded me of all the movies of Heidi I have seen in the Swiss mountains ....I've even watched the ones in German. I wonder if there are any in Italian? And I personally adore goat milk and goat cheese ...& it's so good for you!! Anyway with the way Heather braids the girls hair (& her own hair!) they so remind me of Heidi all the time. They are most definitely living the dream! 🏞🏔⛰
