Shane couldn't beat the big brother, took the whole family away

Shane is a story of the weakness of man. the underage girl in the beginning represented his dark side, like his relationship with the underage black girl he hooked up with earlier on (also denoting his racism), which was one of the scummiest things we saw him do. Shane “couldn’t help” his nature and the weakness and insecurity that he was constantly overcome by. Even while buying flowers for his wife, whom he was about to murder/suicide along with their child, he couldn’t help but check her out and be attracted to her. But what shone through was that part of him that did want to be good, signified by giving her the money and walking away saying something nice and meaning it, one of the only times he didn’t expect something in return for his kindness. In his mind at this moment and in the end, his only way to be good and do the right thing was to die and leave everybody else alone
