The most important things when potty training a puppy is immediately when they wake up is take them where you want them to go. Take them to the same place every time so you don’t have spots all over their lawn. Good luck with that sweet new family addition.

Can I give some advice on the little pup? If you have a bench, teach the kids not to bother the pup when she is in there. That should be her safe place. So, if things get to hectic for her with the kids, she can retire in her bench. If no bench, then her puppy bed... Good luck with the new member of the family! 😊💖🐶

I seen that too. And I agree. I tell my daughter the same with the 🐱. I told her cat's are a little different when wanting to rough house. Dogs can take it a little more than 🐱. Cat's will scratch your eyes out if you play with them too much/rough. Lol...

Our Coco looks exactly like your new puppy. She is a morki and looks like a teddy bear. We've had her for almost 10 years and if your puppy is anything like our Coco your family is really blessed. Coco has never ever bit or tried to bite anything or anybody. She LOVES kids and has never met a stranger. She is so sweet and loves to be loved on. I will say the only thing that we've had to help her with is anxiety. She has had times when she starts breathing fast. But a thunder shirt really helps as does talking and holding her close. Best of times with your new baby :) may she bring all of you as much joy as our Coco has brought to us. God bless!

Just a reminder that there are thousands of wonderful dogs and cats in shelters that face the risk of euthanasia! Puppies and kittens included! If your local shelter (in more northern states) doesn't have any dogs just look for rescue groups as they bring dogs up from southern states where shelter overcrowding and irresponsible pet ownership are rampant!

My best friend is a dog trainer and this is her advice on how to teach your dog to respect guests when they come into your home. Give the dog a small mat or fabric circle or even a carpet square as their "mark" and teach them to "go to their mark" and lay down on it when guests come to the door/into the home. She recommends giving the dog treats to encourage him/her to stay on that mark. Then when the dog is calm and ready, you can command him/her to get up and go greet the guests. Puts you in control instead of a dog who is very excited to meet new people :). That has worked very well for her with all of the dogs she works with anyway! Looks like this puppy will be getting lots of love from all of the kids!
