This is brilliant, well done! My husband and I have a very similar excel spreadsheet to this that we have been doing for the past 15 years when we bought our new home, I live in Sydney. It helped with mortgage, school fees, food shopping and so it goes, and we couldn't budget without it. I hope you'll be back on YT soon and it was lovely to meet you and your channel.

I'd love to hear some tips about how you keep your electricity bill so low. I live in Perth too, and our bill is at least $400 every 2 months 😥. Thanks for another detailed and interesting video :)

Hi Rosemary, I should have mentioned we do have solar panels -had them installed a few years ago now -to get the most power from them we use our BIG appliances (dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer) between the hours of 8am-2pm and it definitely saves us money! I’m lucky enough to be at home most days but if I am going out I will set the delay timer on them👍🏻 Thankyou so much for watching my fellow Perth friend :)

Are you not putting money aside for annual car expenses such as rego and insurance each month?
@MoneySmartMum3 ай бұрын
Hi good question as I only touched this subject briefly - each month all our income goes into our offset account from here we spend our monthly expenses (which I’ve documented in this video) there is always a surplus of funds and these savings just build up in our offset to reduce our mortgage interest. We are saving for these individual items, it’s just all in one big pot for now and I have my annual budget/forecast so I know when these expenses are due. Thankyou for watching!

Love the pocket money for ye & what it covers. If it covers hobbies then why is your husbands gym membership coming out of exercise & ye you have no exercise for yourself?
@MoneySmartMum2 ай бұрын
Thankyou it really works well for us. I did have a gym membership at the start of the year and the direct debits were coming out of our joint bank account hence why they are in our main house budget. I cancelled my membership in May 24 as I just wasn’t going enough😬 there is still money for me to use for exercise but I’ll be honest I’ve been pretty slack these past couple of months🫣 and definitely something I need to start motivating myself to do again!! Thankyou for watching appreciate it so much💜💜 have a wonderful weekend!

@18:42 "we don't really eat out so we buy nicer food from the supermarket". @11:50 "here's our misc spending...cafe's, mcdonalds, krispy creme etc...$544 per month". Since you have all this great information you need Caleb Hammer to carry out an audit. 🤣🤣🤣

The school contributions are optional (assuming public school), save yourself some money. No matter how many angry letters you get from the school you do not have to pay this. You can confirm with a quick google.

Yeah be a leech on everyone else.
@brad51853 ай бұрын
@SpookFilthy it's not leeching, you pay for schooling in taxes. Anything on top is not paying for the curriculum, it's to cover the schools' poor money management or nice to haves..

Thank you for sharing all this, I really like the way you've setup your budget/template - I think I'll incorporate a few of those tabs. Also it's wild to me that I'm paying vastly more in rent than your mortgage 😂🤣😅🥲 oof.

Thankyou!! It’s been a work in progress for years😆 my husband thinks I’m over the top but i love a good spreadsheet🤓 I will say we do have a small house (on a 300m block) and this does reflect the low payment. I know and understand how painful rent payments are at the moment😠 it’s not good -are you also in Perth?

@@MoneySmartMum Thanks for the reply! we're currently in SA on a 280m lot, our rent just went up $180 a week for our new lease but because there are so few rentals available we didn't really have a choice 😅 I also love a good spreadsheet, probably too much! But I really like your layout, it's cleaner than my current setup so I've already made a few changes to mine now because of it 😁
