This was so good and so helpful to watch!!! Thank you Dr. Stracks and Lisa for having such a real, open conversation. I can really relate to what Lisa said about having this belief that if someone (my husband for example) gets mad at me, they are going to leave which I know is not true but I developed this belief in childhood. I also loved when Lisa said she was never going to have a migraine again because she didn't speak up for herself. I've had trouble speaking up my whole life but I'm working on this aspect of myself because not speaking up is how a lot of my pain symptoms started. I also love the concept of giving yourself or another person a space of grace. You both told some really great stories that were concrete examples of connecting the dots to see why your symptoms started. Love the advice on how to be gentle with people when trying to explain this mind body stuff to them. I want to tell the whole world about this work but not everyone is ready to hear it so I have to learn to back off a little. Finally, you guys are the cutest couple!! Love the timeout and speaker/listener techniques! Thank you again so much for doing this video. I'm going to watch this again with my husband!

I'm so glad this was helpful! Navigating family relationships and unlearning what we learned when young are both challenging and rewarding. Sounds like you're doing a lot of the hard work; we're here if you need additional support. Keep up the good work and remember to give yourself grace each day!

Thank you for sharing your personal experience with persistent migraines and explaining the ways in which unacknowledged and unexpressed emotions, especially anger, can manifest as chronic pain and other conditions in the body. I really appreciate your willingness to be vulnerable and discuss personal relationships and how daily experiences can trigger and exacerbate emotions that we have learned it is not appropriate to express. This is a very significant issue and so very helpful in learning to embrace all of our feelings and use tools, like expressive writing, to connect with what we authentically experience. We can all benefit from such an appreciation of how mind and body interact to generate or alleviate pain and other chronic conditions.

Do you think anxiety and dizziness go hand and hand? Yes, I’ve been medically cleared and checked over and over in regards to the dizziness… it doesn’t go away and the scans dizziness feed each other. Suggestions?

Thank you so much for this honest conversation! I have a question regarding how to distinguish between pain that caused by anger/feelings or by physical strain. Lets say that one has diagnosed TMS back pain and than after physically difficult day having back spasm. How recognized the real reason for pain? Or always treat it as TMS pain?

That's a great question, and probably more complicated than can be easily answered in an online forum. In general, I think that there is an emotional component to something like a back spasm, but it would take some examination and discussion to really be able to create that context. If you'd like to reach out to set up an appointment to talk about your concerns, please contact us at cormendihealth.com.

Is it possible to have structural pain and neuro plastic pain at the same time?? Because I think I have both Because I think I have both?

Yes! That's a great, and common, question but the short answer is that yes, both can be going on simultaneously. If you get a chance, check out Dr. Stracks's interview with Lara Birk (kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2PEc2t6gamYmpo) that addresses that question directly and helps explain how to move forward with Mind-Body Medicine when there are structural issues as well. You are welcome to reach out to our office through our website at cormendihealth.com if you have additional questions. Thanks for reaching out!
