Orcas were being captured around that same time for theme parks..... they probably didn’t trust any boats in the area

The Orcas definitely knew what they were doing. They know what is food and what’s not. It’s hard to know what their intent was but if they felt threatened it would make sense that they would attack or it could be rough house play. Who knows?

@@jamjambo351 possibly. I read more about this but it may be that the sound of the engine may have agitated them because after they shut down the orcas swam off after awhile

Lookingforbeansat3a.m I love killer whales. The bull male has a large dorsal fin. The female has a small dorsal fin. Sometimes their fin are called sharky. It shapes like a shark fin. Have you ever seen the movie Orca?

Charles Shelton not on all orcas. Bulls can have 6 ft dorsal fins and females are shorter but depending on the type of orca, the fins can be more triangular than shark shaped.

you legit wrote "generally" in your own comment, implying it's not a definite. as is, the Orcas rammed a boat, they didn't attack any humans and on top of that, it's not like most of human history is recorded. there are no known wild orcas killing humans. key word being known, plus it's bound to happen eventually

@@coreylucas5346 Before sounding so authoritative, you might want to check yr facts. It's an ever-evolving environment with dwindling resources. Orcas are well known for their intelligence and planned coordinated attacks. They have intentionally killed humans before. Just on KZbin (no actual scientific research required) there are many MANY accounts of this exact boat-ramming behavior. I'm concerned that you confidently spread misinformation that might recklessly put others in danger. Thank you.

SeaWorld spent a fortune trying to block its release. What we do to animals in the name of entertainment is disgusting.)

I don't know, they probably would of seen the best eachother and the worst under those circumstances, maybe the worse had an impact. Maybe all parties weren't content with this idea to sail around the world, could make for bad feelings after it went bad. Maybe it's not true or you could read the books to find out more maybe.

For a former sailor this guy didn't take many precautions. How did no one know that they had sank? Did he not tell anyone outside of the family about the trip? Didn't they stay in radio contact with the mainland?

They are in the top 3 smartest animals behind humans and elephants (in my opinion). Also, they use echolocation so if they thought it was food they would use it, nothing would come back, so no they probably did not think it was food
