I have been waiting for YEARS to see that clip of Carol presenting Vicki Lawrence with that gold record for "The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia". Now how Lyle treated that audience member was the kicker for me. You could tell that was not pre-planned and it was a priceless moment. I know I'm old for saying it, but damn I miss shows like this that can still make me laugh. You can have your reality shows, but this right here is real entertainment at it's finest.

What Lyle did with the audience member was priceless! I grew up on this show but I forgot about this episode. The dance number about the Hatfields & McCoys reminds me of my old h.s. boyfriend. His ladt name was Hatfield & his parents were from KY. He was a direct descendent of the famous Hatfields. I'm a direct descendent to Abe Lincoln. I found itvrunny how we came from opposite backgrounds, & were opposites as well.

It"s so wonderful to watch Carol because she is such a great actress/comedian, I've enjoyed watching all the cast of her show it would not have been such a hit without her superb selection of guess/members the selection created unforgettable memories to last lifetime; to infinity and beyond. Love you, Carol, can't wait to catch your new show.

When Carol sings the sign-off song, I feel as if she's singing it to me personally. She, like Joan Crawford, had a personal love and connection with her audience, as she understood that she would not be where she was without them, and hence remembered her roots, was grateful, and treated them with respect and love. A true legend. May she live forever and ever. Love you Carol.

One of the most memorable moments in the show's history was when Vicki sang her classic song on the show and then on this show, when Carol surprised her with a well-deserved Gold record.

I'm so glad that You Tube keeps so many lovely old comedy shows ! You always know you will be rewarded , and feel happier ! And the skill of the dancers : you can see they've had ballet ( etc) training... The choreography is much more imaginitive than modern offerings ! Synchronized, graceful, fun, colourful, and conveying the mood of the songs. Can't we revive this sort of happy show ? Carol and the team will go down in history as having given so much joy to SO many....☺️ The dancers start their magic as early as One Minute "in" .😊 Many thanks .😊 Love from England. xx🇬🇧💕🇺🇲🙌💕👍😊

A gold record is given when you sell 500,000 units. A platinum is when you sell 1,000,000 units, and a double platinum is when you sell 2,000,000. Vicki sold 500,000 units of her record to get a gold record. Good for her.
@Secret_Agent_Mark Жыл бұрын
True, but only when you define it by the rules from 1976 until today. Vicky, however, released the song in '73, when a gold record was awarded for sales starting from 1.000.000 up to 1.999.999 copies. After '76, the definition for gold records and higher awards have been redifined to a lower threshold.

I've noticed that you always post these same anti-Tim Conway comments on every episode - nothing constructive about your criticism, nothing positive about the show, just hate for Tim Conway. You're certainly entitled to your opinion (though I can't help but think of that motherly advice of what one ought to do when one doesn't have anything nice to say) but it's a curious chip you've got on your shoulder to say the least.
