“It’s revealing that my child isn’t willing to love me unconditionally…” no you psycho, that’s YOUR JOB as their parent! Wow. That’s actually insane. She’s taking random parenting principles like loving your child unconditionally and distorting them to fit HER warped desires… sick. It’s not your CHILD’s job to love you! It’s the PARENTS job to love and protect the child. I truly hope ppl were just hate-watching their show, I cannot imagine anyone ACTUALLY thinking this is good advice… Did she just say that “the two YOUNGEST are showing long patterns of selfishness”!?!?!? YES! CORRECT. That is what children do! It’s a survival instinct that we ALL HAVE as children!! I can’t. Let me tell you as someone who had to live with abusive parents. They will lie to themselves and warp reality to fit their world view so that they can see themselves as a good person. At the end of it all they will have the GALL to tell you that they were good parents. They are so delusional that they will either not see any of the bad actions or they will just delude themselves into thinking that those bad actions were "for your own good." This story is making me beyond angry because I just know that at the end of this all, if her kids ever get somewhere, become famous or become successful, she will sit there and have the audacity to say "I made them. I made them who they are today." It is sickening. Disgusting. Loathsome behaviour where they will try to take credit for all your success and take none for your failures. I sincerely hope the best for the kids, because I know just how horrible it is to survive this kinda stuff.

@@JezebelNeverDied I think it's just CPS in general. I grew up poor af and my family was heavily abusive, two of my schools called CPS and they did nothing, didn't even talk to us. Mind you, we have literal deformities due to my parents neglecting us. There are so many cases where kids are on the verge of death and they won't do anything. The whole system is screwed. Now I do agree that it would probably be worse considering they were a wealthy morman family in a heavily devout morman state. My family also grew up as strict morman and they are legit awful. I'm more bothered at how old is that kid that he already thought of escaping his own house. I hope the family who would take care of the kid do it proper this time. I am pro-spartan discipline (and I know a lot of people isn't). I am okay with disciplining a kid physically, aka hitting him BUT that's the last thing you must do and there are strict reasons for it. First and foremost, do not hit the kid in vital points. Spank them in the butt for all I care but use your hand and not wood or whatever. And you only do that if #1, they are at that point that they don't listen to you not once but like after 10 times or so. Sometimes, fear is required to discipline a kid if the peaceful kind does not work BUT it's the last thing you do because if you do hit your kid often, eventually, they won't be afraid anymore and what you gonna do then? Threaten them with a gun?

For some reason, every time I hear about this incident, I always think about the Turpin family-a family that had 14 children living in Perris, California, who were also abused and malnourished. Both parents in this case were arrested. The story of how one child escaped is very similar to the one where Franke’s child escaped. As a father, I literally can't even imagine doing this to your kids...... Absolutely disgusting. Lock her up. I'm glad her kids are alive; but it's sad they'll have this to live with the rest of their childhoods to deal with emotionally, and without a mother. "in this home you don't get personal space. It's my space." YOUR JOB AS A PARENT IS TO LITERALLY TEACH YOUR CHILD THESE THINGS.... Teach them boundaries; even from YOU, and GIVE THEM A PLACE THEY FEEL SAFE... IE THEIR ROOM. My kids know they can go in their room when they're upset, feel angry, sad or whatever.... Tell them they can be alone to think about it, or if they want company to invite you in. The only thing I do is make sure they know to keep it clean... Good god, I can't wrap my head around any of this. My kids eat when they want to, and before me.... If they don't do their chores that's their problem and they don't get Vbucks or something.... Holding FOOD against your child is brain worms behavior... OK I HAVE TO EDIT AGAIN. TAKING AWAY CHRISTMAS. Holy hell she is the walking epitome of how NOT to parent. Just punishing them instead of teaching them at every corner.... Sorry, I'm so mad, this baffles me so much. the way she even acknowledges that her YOUNG children have become numb to her discipline makes my blood boil. I know that numbness. I really don't think anyone should have these stupid family vlog channels, it's a massive invasion of privacy, any child will agree with your dumb video ideas and will not fully grasp the consequences until they are near irreversible, it's different if the kid wants to make it but the parents should be there to restrain the kids dumb ideas. No child wants their mother to share their asinine "wrongdoings" and subsequent punishment to the world, hell I got pissed off whenever my parent would talk about some of the stuff I did to their friends. Like that shit is private don't go telling kathy how exhausted you are because you perpetually treat your child like a child instead of trying to form them into an adult. Also, just get a fucking job, I understand that you prefer to sit on your ass all day hyper focused on your boring gross kids; Instead of working a real job from home, or hiring a babysitter so you can be an actual productive member of society, you just get to talk about yourself all day. If you have to make videos keep your kids out of them, but then that would actually require being entertaining or doing something interesting. Straight up leech behavior, nobody forced you to have a whole ass litter, sucking life out of your kids so that you don't have to work like everybody else does is disgusting.

It's like hypothermia. From what I understand, the brain sends signals to warm up the body and to get you to seek warmth from the environment. If the cold just gets worse the brain eventually stops bothering and dedicates to just keeping you alive by itself for as long as it can, cause it concluded it can't trust the environment to help with that anymore. I bet those abusive parents understand that concept pretty well, but immediately claim you're speaking in martian if you equate it to 'prolonged negative reinforcement' (I bet that's what they call their abuse when confronted about it)

He then followed it by saying, "You could put a bullet point blank right between my eyes and not even flinch." and I replied, "Probably." That still astonishes me today that I could even reply so coldly like that. Thankfully the moment I became an adult I got the heck away from everyone and everything that was a problem in my life. I’ve always wanted to be a mom and I’m not yet but I cannot imagine doing this to my baby. I already know they’re going to change my life and i will love them more than I ever have anyone before. I legitimately cannot fathom hurting them or them being terrified of me. My heart is so broken for her children. They should’ve never ever been treated this way. I hope they get to live with someone who genuinely cares for and love them. I also hope they get therapy and help because they are unimaginably traumatized.

When I taught pre-K, most of the time all I had to do to discipline kids was frown and ask them to calm down and think about what they did. Eventually they knew to adjust their behavior whenever I gave them The Look. Then when they do good you smile and praise. It has to be genuine and consistent, though. Well-adjusted kids are very sensitive to social cues and don't *want* to make others upset, so yeah... why are the kids numb Ruby?!

This is why she escalated to tying them up and torturing them. Can you imagine what she had to have done to make her own kids lose any kind of reaction to the pain she was inflicting? I literally shudder at the abuse they took from their own mother, and she literally gaslights herself into believing it is done through love. She has literally destroyed her children, this is going to be with them forever, and they are going to need so much mental health help just to get out of their own heads. She is the lowest form of dirt, I hope she is never allowed to see those kids again even after getting out of jail if that ever happens, I hope her kids go on to be successful adults and I hope it rubs their mother that they were successful without her, and maybe one day they will get a chance if they want to tell her how they felt, and I hope it rips her soul apart to see that her kids don't feel anything for her, not even hate, because that is all she deserves.

It caused tremendous pain as an adult because I never felt like I could express my true emotions. I had to acclimate to what I thought adults would be happy with. I had to become docile and quiet. You know what's crazy? Millions of mothers out there including my own are never going to see justice for being exactly like this because ours aren't publishing themselves on KZbin. I'm 21 now with severe mental health issues from the trauma she put me through and because I am legally an adult now I have no way to have that justice be brought upon her, now all the PTSD and responses I make because of it are magically my own fault and if I say otherwise I'm a crybaby.

This whole thing reminds me of The Turpin Family situation where the parents controlled all of their children, including adult-aged ones. They would chain their children to their beds, not let them eat, bathe, or go outside. Nothing changed until Jordan Turpin, one of the daughters managed to escape and call 911. The only difference with the Turpin family is that the parents didn't flaunt their crimes publicly.

Life in prison without parole for not just for Ruby but for Kevin, too! Ruby is rightfully under fire and in a cell for her heinous behavior but Kevin was right there with her mistreating those kids. He was smart enough to stay mostly off camera but when he was on camera, he did NOTHING to stop her. He actually supported her and defended their "parenting style" on more than one occasion. He was a ride or die for the Cult that Jodi and Ruby have been pushing and he was an absolute menace of a professor at BYU, which is what led to him being fired. He and his scumbag lawyer are doing everything they can to try and rewrite history and that cannot happen. He cannot avoid jailtime. He cannot be allowed to have custody of the kids because the mistreatment will definitely continue and likely worsen. I don't know what's going on with the other adults in the situation but I don't trust them. The only people I trust to keep the kids safe are Shari and Chad, the kids who have escaped.
