There is no greater honour than to be buried along side one’s soliders. May they rest together in peace

Thank you for producing and sharing this video. I plan to visit this cemetery and this mass grave when I visit South Carolina. I will never forget the men of the 54th and 55th Massachusetts Infantry!

Wow! Colonel Robert Gould Shaw was stunningly handsome and dashing! His soft, Blonde hair! His dashing dark Blue Uniform! His deep, commanding voice! I love Colonel Robert Shaw so much! I really wish he would have survived The Second Battle of Fort Wagner! I really do.

Is he an ancestor of yours?

@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy No. At least I don't think so. But, I had a deep crush on him, for a little while. Now, I know not to fall in love with dead people.

I LOVE the Movie Glory! It is my favorite Movie! And Matthew Broderick! Wow! I fell in love with Matthew Broderick, or Colonel Shaw, instantly!!! Both the real Colonel Shaw and his Movie counterpart, were both very dashing! But, the real Colonel Shaw was a very dashing young Blonde!

Can they conclusively prove that Colonel Robert Gould Shaw was indeed among the 19 bodies found on The Beachhead, near Fort Wagner, in 1987? I so hope that they can!!!

I’d say that would come down to DNA to prove but that definitely is the story we all know.

Why hasn't there been a larger effort to find and exhume all of the soldiers? They can't be that far from the exterior southern face of the wall, most likely on the other side of where the 5ft moat was.

Good point, I agree.

@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy After some research, the actual fort and battlefield has been reclaimed by the Atlantic Ocean, so that is the reason why. Most folks think the are looking at remnants of the fort....they are not.

The 54th helped burn an abandoned Darien GA to the ground on 11 June 1863. The town had no strategic value. That was a cowardly and despicable act.

What I can say while neither supporting or defending them is, that wars throughout history are full of atrocities.
