He emailed me back this really long and detailed response about what samples he used and what he thought might be causing the discrepancy. The line “a licky boom-boom dem” in the song Informer is a diss. The song is about Snow being arrested and doing jail time after being accused of stabbing someone. He’s singing to the guy who snitched, saying he’s a kiss ass to the cops. In Con Calma they changed the line to “I like ya boom-boom girl” since daddy yankee made a party song version. I think the original is a way more interesting song!

@randomnobodovsky36923 жыл бұрын
"saying he’s a kiss ass to the cops" - Isn't "lick" a slang word used to describe harming someone? I understood it as a threat of shooting (boom boom) the informer. I think that in the music video Snow even makes, for a very brief moment, gesture that may suggest it. On the other hand, semi-random hand gestures are stample of that music genre, so it might be me seeing white noise and reading it wrong. Anyway, whatever dialect "Informer" is in, I'm not good at it. And, well, "Informer" is a great song indeed. Cheers!

Actually whole genres like house and hiphop are based on sampling funky and disco songs, and since all of the most iconic grooves are used multiple times, now they're copying copies. Pop songs are always based on stolen beats and melodies, nothing is interesting in that. Actually Snow's version of Informer is from around 1992-93 or something around that time - my early childhood, I feel so old now 😢 😂 -, and he features in the new version as well, so it's another category a bit. Actually I like it both. The sampled version is Better of Alone is like killing my childhood's one of the most iconic Eurohouse song. It's from around 2001 if I remember well. (Since then I've checked: Informer - 1992, and Better of Alone is from 1999. Actually from that era nowadays house producers are getting oversample/over-revork the Eiffel 56's Blue as well. Another iconic beat from around the end of the last century-beginning the new one. Almost all of the best euro music made then.)

roomie gangstas paradise was about the struggles of being a gangsta not about how good it is to be a gangsta also steivie wonder worked on gangstas paradise with coolio update: here ill prove it He's rapping about being paranoid, having to look over his shoulder every corner he takes. He's alive and he's young, but will he get to grow old or will he die young? He doesn't know, but he goes out till the end. "Death ain't nothing but a heart beat away" (He could get killed any given moment) "As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I take a look at my life and realize there's not much left" (Meaning that living the 'gang life' Is like not living at all) "I can't live a normal life, I was raised by the stripes" (He was raised by the gang, he doesn't know for anything outside the gang) "I'm 23 now, but will I live and see 24, the way things Is going I don't know.." ('The way thing Is going I don't know' - he knows the gang life Isn't any good, It's not worth It, his mother disowned him, death Is a risk at any time, and as much as he wants to live a normal life, he can't because he doesn't know anything else) "Got my 10 in my hand and a gleam in my eye" (He's motivated, do or die, however the chorus emphasises that he's using his will the wrong way and It's only hurting him and his loved ones.) "Tell me why are we, so blind to see That the one's we hurt, are you and me Tell me why are we, so blind to see That the one's we hurt, are you and me" 'You' (the gangster) and 'me' (the loved one(s) of the gangster) And the title of the song Itself: "Gangsta's Paradise" Is double sided, for normal people living life, gangster life appeals cool, and everyone's a "wanna-be gangsta" (that's where the term comes from). "I'm the kinda G that lil homies wanna be". However, when you dive deeper and look at a gangster's life from their perspective, the word "Paradise" In the title of the song Is an ironical metaphor for "Hell". The message that this song sends Is that people should oppose the gang life. On the surface It may seem cool, flamboyant and whatnot, but the deeper you go the darker It gets, just like hell.

To use the samples you have to ask the Creator of it to use it. If they are dead then........Idk. but example, Katy Perry had to pay 8 million dollars to some dude for using one of his lines in dark horse without his permission
@zuzannaklimczak55674 жыл бұрын
@@deariisy At first Katy had to pay but she got her money back or something. "Flame filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Perry and the other songwriters, claiming that "Dark Horse" copied from his 2008 song "Joyful Noise". On July 29, 2019, a federal jury ruled in favor of Flame. The jury ordered Perry, her collaborators, and associated labels to pay $2.78 million in damages. However, in part due to a similar judgement that found Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" clear of copyright infringement in the Ninth Circuit, the jury award was vacated on appeal in March 2020." Gangsta’s Paradise is one of the greatest works of hood existentialism. With each verse he outlines his acts or inactions and justifications for them. Then he ends each verse with first desperation then uncertainty then finally resignation that he will not make it out of his situation. The pre chorus highlights how this lifestyle only stands to hurt everyone in these circumstances. The chorus which includes the change to gangstas paradise denotes the glorification of the gangsta lifestyle. It holds up as a both explanation of and cautionary tale to the people in these socioeconomic positions that drive them towards the gangstas lifestyle. Stevie made a great song but this is nothing to be scoffed at, even the change to gangsta is important and meaningful.
