But a man should not accept anything for which there is insufficient evidence, sufficiency here being reached by the substantiation of the unprecedented claim of coming back from the dead. It's not a documentation problem, it's a plausibility problem. If we are setting our standards so that facts of reality regarding how physics works may be set aside due to ancient people who said so? This opens the door for numerous Religions and Miracle stories, not just Jesus.

It has to do with making an analogy with stories that we can believe happened, and an analogy with stories that we believe did not happen. And use the thousands, hundreds of thousands and millions of stories that humans have created, both true and not true. Do we think the stories of the moon landings are true? Do we think the stories of Star Trek are true? Why do we think the moon landings and coming back to the Earth actually happened? Because Neil Armstrong was a great pilot of jets, Buzz Aldrin had a PhD from MIT in orbital mechanics. The Scientists and Engineers knew how to build rocket ships. Why might we think that the stories of Star Trek are not true? Aside from the timeline problems. Because the stories don't contain knowledge on how to make Warp Drive Star Ships, Photon Torpedoes, Transporters. In order for us to think the stories of Star Trek are true, we would have to be able to build a Warp Drive Star Ship and fly to Vulcan and look and see if there is anybody there that looks like Spock. Then we might think that Star Trek is true. It is all about knowledge vs story claims. In order for someone to turn a 3 day old stinky body to new again, that being would have to know a lot about the human body, about blood, skin, bones, eye balls, liver, heart, etc.. Did Jesus tell us anything about the human body? Anything about first aid that we humans can use? Anything about CPR? Anything that would start Science to research into starting Medical Science so humans can build hospitals, medical research facilities and ways to prevent diseases naturally? All Jesus of Christianity gives us is Story Magic. Jesus of Christianity is a Supernatural Superhero. Jesus of Christianity is not a Nature's God. Did Jesus tell us about Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Geography, etc.. If Jesus was a God, Jesus should have been able to fill entire books on economics, much more than Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations, 1776. Instead of just telling people to give to the poor. If Jesus cared about humans, Jesus would have talked about how to build more wealth with good economic practices to build businesses and on how to make things. Then lets understand Thomas Jefferson and his phrase in the Declaration of Independence of the United States, "Laws of Nature and of Nature's God." Thomas Jefferson did not think that Christianity is true. Jefferson knew that the stories of Christianity only gets to a human created story God, stories created by humans. Jesus is a Supernatural Superhero, who only knows Story Magic. Jefferson thought that a Nature's God would have knowledge of Nature. That is what the Philosophers of the Age of Enlightenment gave us, is to not believe in Supernatural Superhero Story Magic, but to build on knowledge of Nature and Reason. A phrase used to describe the Age of Enlightenment was 'Dare to Know.' It is the Age of Enlightenment Philosophies that gave us the advances of Nature, like electricity, electronics and machine created power, medical care and medical hospitals. Not the Story Magic thinking from the ancient world.

The more I come across well built cases for the the existence of God and the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and the more I see how some accept and some do not, even with the same evidences, and not discriminating the IQ levels; I become more aware of God’s grace. It’s not my smartness or cleverness that made me accept the truth, but the mercy and grace of God that helped me not to reject it.

I grew up in a Christian community and took it for granted that God existed, created everything, and wanted a personal relationship with me. I went to church and prayed. However, I heard from the preacher every time I went to church, but nothing from God. When I read the Bible myself, and studied how it was compiled, and how historically and scientifically inaccurate it was, I questioned whether it was the inspiration of a divine being.

I don’t see how anyone could personally study this book that archaeological discoveries continually prove, and that outside historical sources - even hostile ones - confirm, and fail to realize this is indeed the sole God-breathed word of Yehovah God to man. It’s interesting. People who have faith find these discussions strengthen what they believe and it’s affirmation. People who are seeking truth and are curious may find a reason to further believe in Christ for themselves and start a path of Christian life. Those who are looking for reasons to disbelieve will always look for validation of disbelief. It takes spiritual insight of the individual to know who God is for themselves. Many tools and methods we do have. It’s like the parable of the sower that sowed seed into various types of ground. ‘He who seeks me will find me’. Truth is light shown in those dark places. However, nothing JWW says makes sense.Cold case detective work involving new breakthroughs in forensic examination, such as DNA, it is not the same as textual criticism (TC). TC utilises the historical method, which is based on the probability of something having happened. TC ask’s various questions: When/ where was the text produced? Who wrote it and why? What was their bias/ credibility? What’s the genre of the text? Where did they pull their material from? It takes years of specialist training and research to become a textual critic. It involves learning Greek, Hebrew, and even Aramaic, the languages spoken by Jesus and the disciples, and which the Old and New Testament were written in. Being a CCD requires a wholly different skill set. Comparing witness statements is not the same as carrying out textual criticism on scripture.

Just know that J Warner Wallace is lying. He was not a cold case detective when he became a Christian. He was a Christian long before he started working on cold cases, his entire story is a lie that you can verify for yourself. Then ask yourself "why would he lie about this?" Humility is very powerful. I became a Christian at 18 then shortly after that I was doubtful of my decision and asked myself questions about Christianity. I’m 42 now and because of great apologists and using these tactics to know truth I’m completely convinced. The last three years I used those same tactics and became Eastern Orthodox. I was a Baptist for two decades and an ordained minister at that, but I started asking the question “where is the Church Jesus Christ started?”. Ive always been taught and believed that the apparent contradictions in the gospels are due to the fact that they are simply written for different audiences. And the different audiences will tend to focus more strongly on what is important to their particular group. The small contradictions, whatever they may be, are just that....small and relatively meaningless. The larger message of each gospel, and the particular and well chosen details within, is what really matters for each intended audience.

Hello my name is Justin and I'm a Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college graduate. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't. I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict. Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers. Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " On The Origin of Species" and I'm not convinced of macro Evolutionary biology but I accept micro Evolution such as speciation and adaptation because there's no evidence of macro Evolutionary biology nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word. Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I tell you what i came to Christ as a lost little boy and kept being attacked by the Enemy trying to lead me astray and he did lead me astray for years my parents were believers but werent religious but i know they believed I had a couple grandparents that were religious as well as you can define their faith but some people like the Detective JM come to our Lord Jesus Christ thru skepticism i think the Lord is ok with that as long as your earnest in your belief in what our Lord did for us.thank you Mr Brandon you are an excellent listener and filmmaker 👍✝️

I have to put this here. The Bible was NOT written to us but written FOR us in that we were not the immediate intended audience. Therefore, the people to whom the gospels were written to could verify if what the writers were saying is true because there are time stamps, locations names of people even famous people who could be interviewed and find out whether it is true for example if Jesus actually raised Lazarus from the dead. Just as the guest has implied the were written during the lifetime of the disciples and not only that also by those who had an encounter with the main character of their writings so it was so easy to refute what they were claiming if only they would have found a single witness to deny what his/her encounter with Jesus is being potrayed to be. But guess what we do not have even a single recounted testimony from those whose lifes interacted with the life of Jesus in one way or another. Nicodemus, Lazarus, Zacheus, Mary Magdalene, the lame man at the well, the blind person, the wedding at Cana, the Samaritan women, the Roman Centurion, Peter's mother, the man possessed by legion, Jairus daughter etc were well known and NOT fictitious characters how come none of them ever denied what was being written about them?

Hello my name is Justin and I'm a Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college graduate. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't. I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict. Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers. Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " On The Origin of Species" and I'm not convinced of macro Evolutionary biology but I accept micro Evolution such as speciation and adaptation because there's no evidence of macro Evolutionary biology nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word. Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. Historians try to establish what probably happened in the past.Because historical events cannot be repeated, it is always open for people to question if they happened, how they happened or deny they happened. Miracles violate what we have come to understand to be the workings of the natural order, and therefore are the least probable occurrence. Whether an itinerant preacher called Jesus existed is one thing, that’s a historical claim. Whether he was the son of God and did miracles are theological claims.

10:38 Sorry Mr Wallace but the destruction of the second temple is NOT recorded in the book of Acts. That is precisely one of the reasons to believe the book of Acts was written BEFORE 70 AD. Because if such an important event is NOT recorded in the book of Acts it is at least reasonable to believe it is because it had NOT happened.

@@ramigilneas9274 I also laugh at any credibility of the gospel of Thomas because contrary to the book of Acts that mentions 32 countries, 54 cities, 9 Mediterranean islands and 95 people of historical renown without making a single mistake, the so called gospel does not mention ANY historical fact. This kind of precision only happens in manuscripts with eye witness sources. Meanwhile in reality any serious historical study of the new testament shows that the 4 gospels had to be written very early. Early translations to syriac of the 4 gospels like the Diatessaron attest to that fact.

Pretty sure that Luke made up a census that never happened for his made up birth narrative that shows no overlap with the birth narrative that Matthew made up. And to get the names of a few places and actual people right you obviously don’t need the eyewitness testimony of anyone who ever met Jesus… You don’t even have to talk to anyone… you can simply read the works of Josephus and copy everything.😉

Great interview! JW Wallace's point at the end of this interview about humility hits the nail on the head. 53 years ago, on a street in LA, when someone talked to me about Jesus and asked me to pray and ask Him into my life, I thought, "If it's true and I don't do it, I might be missing something very important. What have I got to lose? -- A little pride." I thank God I took that leap of faith, and have never regretted it.

This brother, J Warner Wallace is a gem. He’s onto something special. If you base a belief off of the eyewitness accounts and testimony, you will be able to stand on the most firm foundation. The miraculous preservation of the scriptural accounts stands out when comparing ANY historical account of any significant person in human history. As the disciple Peter testified to in the book of Acts , ch 10 verse 41 chosen witnesses’ who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. The gospels have the testimony and eyewitness accounts of those who saw the risen Lord Jesus the Christ after He conquered death , hell and the grave. He is risen!
