Clarification: After Curly left the Stooges, brother Shemp filled the third role until his death, then Joe Besser joined the group. But Shemp and Joe Besser were their own characters. When Joe DeRita later joined the group, he was made to be a "Curly" archetype, hence "Curly Joe." So while Joe DeRita didn't immediately replace Curly, he was the next to "play" Curly. I could have been more clear on that point.

What he did violated the first rule of gun safety- always assume it's loaded- that does not let the property master (propman) off the hook though, the weapon should only have been loaded just before the stunt, and he should never let it out of his control, even a blank- which was the load- can generate a force in the thousands of pounds, which is what fragmented Hexum's skull causing the fatal injury.

@@60toodles It's more complicated than that, isn't it? You are non-optionally required to pay into a maintenance fund, which will supposedly support the upkeep of the cemetery in perpetuity. At least that was how it worked with my mother at a big, for profit cemetery. So no, I shouldn't HAVE to also do maintenance myself. Although I will, if needed, when I visit. But what if I don't live nearby? My father is buried several states away. If his grave gets overgrown, is it my fault for not flying out regularly to trim the grass or brush dirt off his stone? If part of the "sales pitch" is that the grave will be maintained using the money all of the families of the interred have paid for that purpose, the fault lies with the cemetery, not the families (and for older burials, it is less likely there even is any immediate family in a position to do grave maintenance).
@darkwood7773 жыл бұрын
@@60toodles I don't think it is the responsibility of the family to remove weeds and reseed dead grass. That should be covered by the perpetual care that one receives when the plot is purchased. Also not everyone who dies has a family. This is why perpetual care exists.

That doesn’t even take into account the exorbitant fees they charge for the plot, the vault, the opening and closing of the grave and the headstone itself. If my family were buried there, I would be looking through the purchase contracts and see if maintaining the cemetery was included in the ‘services’. If it were, I would be calling a lawyer. No way I wouldn’t sue them civilly for the money it would take to cover reinterment and the legal fees needed for the action. That’s absolutely inexcusable the disrespectful way they’re treating that cemetery! Shameful. Just shameful.

I didn't know that Gail Russell rested here. She was such a presence in her films. Too bad her life was so sad and tragic. Another actress you should include in a future video - I mean, come on, it's the LEAST you can do - is the great Symona Boniface. She is one of the most under-appreciated straight women in film - let alone The Three Stooges. That's right, she was the recipient of many pies in the face - which she took with grace and dignity, but her most famous line is probably "You DISGRACEFUL vagabonds!!!" which, when people realize who you are talking about, will recite automatically. Let's not forget her contributions.

I’m surprised how few known partnerships, in marriage or on-screen, are buried together

That cemetery looks run down. Just about every gravestone shot had dandelions in it.

“Fun” fact that’s not really fun but: Dale Black, a young pilot was the only survivor of a plane crash that crashed into the portal of the folded wings and had a miraculous near death experience and kept his visit to heaven secret for over 30 years until he decided to become a minister and wrote a book about the miracles in his life. His book is called “flight to heaven” and I strongly suggest watching his interviews here on KZbin as well and see for yourselves. His plane crashed into that very monument in this cemetery.

I agree with all here, this cemetery is in awful shape, especially compared to Forest Lawn. I must say though that it's more "real" than Forest Lawn, where they exhibit some, if not most celebrities almost as "gods".That has always bothered me. All these people were gifted in one sense or another yes, but they are just people, like us, and we all die. Sorry to be negative. Just my opinion. Great job Art. Thank you so much for your work on these fascinating tours.

What a shame the state of Oliver Hardys grave....for a man who gave us so much laughter, terrible state his resting place , wonder who's responsible for its maintenance.
