Yes and I loved, Only the Lonely. The late Maureen O'hara played his mother. That movie was funny as hell!!! Also, I do believe John would've won an academy award had he lived. He was phenomenal in JFK.

As much as we all loved his movies, when I think of John Candy I always think of that super Bowl where the 49ers beat the Bengals. 2 minutes left, Niners are down, Joe Montana goes into the huddle as cool as can be and asks the team, "Hey, isn't that John Candy sitting over there?" They drive right down the field, score a touchdown and win the championship. Awesome stuff!

John Candy was so loved by everyone. I had the honor of meeting him, and hanging out with him a couple of times as well. It was during the filming of Blues Brothers in Chicago, and he was good friends with an actor I was dating at the time from The Second City. He was so lovely to me, and included me when he was around . On the day he passed away , I was in my car and heard it on the radio. I was so devastated, I had to pull over. I couldn’t stop crying. To this day, I get choked up watching any of his films. RIP, John.

My favorite John Candy movies: Spaceballs, Summer Rental, Great Outdoors, Delirious, Nothing But Trouble, and Who's Harry Crumb---even his little parts in 1941, Little Shop of Horrors, and Stripes. You just can't go wrong with his movies.

I got teary-eyed when I finally saw it. RIP to one of the all-time greats. I'll never forget the day he died. Two of my friends and myself walked into this grocery store, and as soon as entered, we heard it on whatever radio station they were playing. All 3 of us stopped right in our tracks at the exact same time, which I've always thought was crazy. same reaction and I mean it was a dead stop at the EXACT same time. And we stood there just looking ahead for like 10 seconds before any of us talked. I miss that guy. I'm actually a little shocked he isn't buried near Toronto somewhere.

I didn't know him but I still feel joy watching his movies and sadness that he is no longer with us. I admit I have shed a tear watching him in planes, trains and automobiles where he gave his speech to Steve Martins character in the hotel room.
