I remember when he died and I watched the funeral. It was so sad made me cry. Ryan was a hero and should never be forgotten. He done so much for the AIDS awareness and everything that has happened since then regarding AIDS is due to him.

My brother had heart surgery and got a blood transfusion and donor had aids. Sad way my brother was treated by his church and by Veterans Hospital made me sick. When he died men in hasmack suits came in and took his body they even took his trailer and burned it we wasn't allowed to get family items from it.

I rememder this story. Its very personal to me cuz my mom died the exact same way. In 1984 or 1985 ( sorry I'm not sure on which year it was) she had to get a blood transfusion & contracted HIV which later turned into AIDS the sad part is that it happens more common then we think and she passed away back in 95. This damn disease pisses me the hell off cuz it took my mother & alot of people. I know one day someone's gonna find a cure for this terrible illness we just have to be hopeful & patient. RIP to my mom & everyone who losed their lives to this terrible disease 🙏🕯✝️

I remember Ryan White and all of the news stories back then. I was just 2 years older than him and I can recall the adults of his community being unbelievably cruel to such a young boy. I've been in Indiana my entire life, & was in high school when he passed. I was so upset. I had been following his story since it first hit the news & always wanted to meet him. Me & a friend of mine almost skipped school that day to attend the funeral! If memory serves correctly his headstone is 6 ft tall because he always wanted to be tall, & Max Headroom's Matt Fewer paid for his headstone. Last I knew the Children's museum in Indy had an exhibit of his bedroom, I definitely enjoyed it more than my kids. I still have his books & news clips, I'll never forget all I learned from him. He was wise & graceful beyond his years. I was glad I got to visit his grave several years ago, I would like to again sometime. Thank you for your videos, they're so well done & relaxing! The Power of Children. The exhibit honours Ruby Bridges, Anne Frank and Ryan White. The portion dedicated to Ryan includes items from his room in Cicero as they were when he died. (Some items were copies and additional items remain in storage and are brought up for display from time to time). It also includes one of Greg Louganis' Olympic Gold Medals. Elton John funds a program to bring Jeanne White-Ginder to the exhibit to present a talk and meet visitors several times a year. The gravestone was vandalized several times by locals.

I followed his story alot, and i hve the hardback edition of his story that was in his own words til he unfortunately passed away. I wrote to Ryan a long time ago and got a little note from him along with a picture that he autographed on the back. I unfortunately either lost the note that said thanks for writing and caring or i accidentally threw it away, but i still hve the picture and i hve a copy of the letter i wrote to him that of course he did receive and read. Ryan had a huge positive impact on my life and he still does ! I wrote to him twice but this time he didnt write back which i understand. I wish i could hve met him too ! While some out there may not hve nice things to say about Ryan i hve nothing but nice things to say about him ! He wss great kid a very brave boy who touched and positively impacted all of other lives ! When the anniversary of his death rolls around i pay tribute to him and if i forget i do so soon afterwards afterwards, and one time i believe he came to me,with a smile on his face and said thank you. I too saw the tv movie and i thought it wss great ! That wht Ryan wss ...great ! Who unfortunately had his life cut short due to Aids.He helped us all understand a disease that we werent familar with and knew very little about, and thanks to him advances in treating this disease hve been made, and through him we gained alot of acknowlwdge about it. Those people in the town of Kokomo were wrong with the way they treated him,Ciceiro Indiana embraced him ! I embrace him too ! May his legacy live on forever ! Amen ! 🙏

Yes I remember well. Blood was not checked as it is today. Sad he was treated that way. He was a innocent child. Lot ignorance in the 80s about hiv and aids. People fear the unknown. Even today there's still some myths about hiv and aids. This young man was Brave. He went through so much. The love and support he got from big name celebrities was a blessing. The movie helped some. But it was still very little info on Aids and HIV.in 1983 it was whispers at the hospital. That's when the gloves came out. I know because I'd walked through some tall grass and broke out in a rash.very painful. My dr didn't know but he was just a Gp. I ended up in the hospital. I got treated like a leper. The whispers. Like I could not hear. They put me in a room away from everybody. I was young, all I know was they let me lay there in pain, they didn't even try to treat or help me. My feelings were hurt. I remember falling. One Dr came in and he raised Cain and able. Told them all they should be ashamed for treating me like that. My Hero. Apparently I'd walked through something I was allergic too. They did test. Took biopsies because they turned to bumps. It did have a name. They could did that in the beginning. My father had good insurance. I was not yet a adult. I got treated, it was not contagious. I was just so ashamed the way I was treated. Like I had did something wrong. I got good Dr. Got the help I needed. So I can imagine how Ryan felt. I cried for Ryan, I also cried when he passed. Thank you for visiting his final resting place.👍💯💜✌🙏🦋🌠🌻🌷🧘♀️🙏. Love, respect and positivity always. Neita james.
