Honestly it really begs the question, what is the criteria or like the algorithm they use to decide if a servant gets gender bent, not like the excuse the story gives us for the genderbend, but like what is the defining factor that made the story writers go: “what if we made this historical figure a cute girl?”

And one of the benefits of Type Moon lore on Servants is that they don't even have to be 'real' to be summoned. So the controversy about whether or not Sun Tzu is a real person due to the lack of credible information on him would actually be beneficial since there would be a lot of room for creative interpretation.

@@RavenCloak13 Yeah and? Fate is a franchise that mixes fiction and history, fantasy and reality. Arthurian legend in real life has been doing exactly what you just described for hundreds of years (treating mythological characters as real) and it's that influence on human history that Fate uses as the basis of its world building and there are a number of rules which underline this world building. Just because FGO often finds the exception to the rule or bends the rules doesn't mean they can simply break them willy nilly on just anyone. I was pointing out that Sun Tzu would be a breath of fresh air to the FGO writers because outside of a few accounts of dubious historicity centuries after the fact and the dubious authorship of his most famous work, there is no history to contradict when it comes to him so they don't have to jump through hoops to justify their choices.

I would say Gráinne Mhaol (Grace O'Malley), considering how famous of a folk hero she was here in Ireland, and Nasu loves his Irish lore. From being recognized as a female chieftain in Ireland when that was just unheard of, to her being in famous Irish songs like Óró, 'sé do bheatha 'bhaile. Not to mention her title of 'Ireland's Pirate Queen'. The only reason I can think of why we haven't gotten her realistically is because of Anne Bonny being somewhat similar, being a female Irish pirate. But even if we had another pirate rider servant of Irish descent, we could have her cover other classes that don't overlap with Anne aside from Rider, like Saber (she was a famous duelist wielding both a long and short sword) or heck, even a Berserker since she's also known as the 'Dark Lady of Doona', having captured Doona Castle in revenge for her lover Hugh de Lacy, who was killed after getting caught up in clan rivalry. Heck, if they didn't make her a saber, we could do with an Irish servant who is an assassin, since we currently don't have any (Scáthach is Scottish in origin). Honestly, she would probably become another mom of Chaldea considering she did everything for her clan and her children, even meeting with Queen Elizabeth I as a known criminal to bargain for her son's release, when she could have easily been put in the Tower of London or killed for her crimes.

I've seen the Disney version, the Goodman version that more based on the tail, and I even heard about there being a second weaker genie kept in a ring. But since both Fate and Aladdin are about people who want their wish granted it seems like a good fit.

I’m still wait for actual U.S Presidents or the Founding Fathers, like George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, we need some of those. I would love a Puerto Rican servant, like the Roberto Cofresi, the last of the pirates of the West Indies, which he was causing chaos in the seas in 19th century. A Robin Hood like figure and he is the icon that is the swashbuckling pirate.

As much as I would like that to be the case, it kinda violates some principles about how Heroic Spirits work in Fate. The background of Edison was such that it took the fame of all the presidents together in a mystic code combined with Edison to qualify him for being a Heroic Spirit. They are just too modern to be summonable in the time-frame of the story without some seriously convoluted circumstances.

Fate retcons some aspects of character.

A few that really stick out to me: 1. Robespierre. He’s probably my favorite historical figure, and there’s so many angles you could do with him - my preferred approach is the (metaphorically) addictive nature of violence and how it perpetuates itself, as well as the arc of a tragic hero who lived long enough to become the villain. He comes to mind above all else because early on, FGO was teasing his inclusion, what with him being mentioned on Mozart’s sheet as a French Heroic Spirit he had animosity towards, and having a partially-summoned cameo in d’Eon’s interlude, but after this he was totally dropped. 2. Dietrich von Bern. This guy is the REAL star of Germanic heroic legend, NOT Siegfried. Dietrich is like the German Arthur, and Siegfried is more like Gawain or Galahad. However, the revival of Germanic heroic legend in the early modern period was downstream from the rediscovery of the Nibelungenlied and its elevation to the status of "Germany's Illiad", which made Siegfried the star and left Dietrich in the dust. A good analogy, going back to the earlier Arthur/Gawain comparison, is that if Arthurian legend had been totally forgotten for a few hundred years, then the English rediscovered Sir Gawain and the Green Knight before anything else, and that led to the framing of Gawain as the central figure of the legends, and Arthur as this distant, nearly forgotten side character. Hilariously, if you look online for stuff about Dietrich, a lot of the top results on most search engines are Fate fanservants. 3. John Dee. He’s one of the most famous occultists in history, and would be an excellent way to implement more “fantasy-history” stuff into Servants (something severely lacking in a lot of the ones in FGO). I’ve long theorized that European colonialism in the Nasuverse was driven by the Clock Tower trying to extend concealment of magecraft to the whole world, and he’d be a great way to work that idea in, as he was a major factor behind the rise of the British Empire. 4. Guy Fawkes. In a similar vein to the above, perfect opportunity to blend real history and Nasuverse fantasy-history - make him an Executor! The sheet practically writes itself. 5. Matthew Hopkins. It’s so disappointing this guy was a throwaway NPC in Salem, he really deserves to be a Servant and our first Protestant Executor. 6. Der Freischutz. Speaking of people who technically appear in FGO but got completely screwed, it sucks that they relegated this poor guy to “skill on Moriarty’s sheet” status. He deserves so much better, the legend is so cool. 7. Saint Mercurius. He’s my pick for Grand Saber, dude’s got the sword of Michael the Archangel himself. Great opportunity to use the Angelic Artifact lore we got with Daybit.

I was perplexed with the lack of Yamada Takeru for all those years, especially as it seemed like "Japanese King Arthur" was such an easy layup for a Fate Servant -- then obviously came Samurai Remnant. You could say something similar about Attila the Hun in Extella or Charlemange for Links. At this point I suspect some big names they intentionally don't use for the sake to have recognizable heavy-hitters for additional Fate projects down the road be they other games or novels.

We technically do get testament servants like Draco, and Ozymandias is the Pharaoh from Exodus, but they're added sporadically and the narrative very rarely revolves around them being biblical/ testament characters.

12:34 I’ve been waiting so long for a Tut. Was disappointed when he never showed during Ordeal Call 1 since it was technically in Egypt. I’d imagine he’d be a bit of a playboy given he’s less experienced as a ruler but can still step up to the plate if he wants or needs to. Alongside him, I’d imagine they’d make Akhenaten, Tut’s father and the heretic pharaoh, to accompany him in a father vs. son conflict. Thought that his connection to the sun disk Aten made Akhenaten a prime Foreigner candidate. Why, you may ask? Well, imagine if Fate lore twisted this sun disk into being some gate for a great old one, Zvilpoghua being the main candidate for this one. Thoughts?

Ever since I saw LB7 was in Latin America I was autohyping myself to see Wiracocha, the andean deity of creation. It's an old deity from the Caral civilization dating back to 5000 B.C. Creator of everything from the sun, moon, stars, earth, humanity, civilization, etc. Ruler of the sun, the moon, time and thunder. He can be assigned to the planet Saturn. The sun, the moon, thunder and earth are gods too so he is like the andean all father. Also, according to the inca's worldview, Wiracocha is in the Center of all things and reigns over the god's world, the human world, the underworld and a fourth world that exists, but goes beyond. Some of his characteristics might have been tinkered by the christians to introduce a creator deity to the incas so for better or worse, this is what we have.

My thought process on Son Wukong being a servant is in The Journey to the West, he became immortal at least 7 times over. In any time that isn’t F/GO he should still be alive and not be summonable.

I keep saying, the one Knight I’ve always wanted to see in Fate is Balin le Savage, the Knight with Two Swords. He’s late a addition to Arthurian lore, coming out around the same time as Galahad. He never joined the Round since he died before it’s formation, but his actions through this tales would be the foundation for Camelot to prosper, and set up the Quest for the Holy Grail. Wielded the Sword of Strange Hangings before Galahad back when it was cursed by fairies. Took the head of a lady of the lake when she tried demanding his over family a feud in Arthur’s court and was banished. Managed to kill many knights, including ones sent after him by Arthur himself. Regains Arthur’s favor after Capturing the Giant King Rions. Fought along with Arthur during the war with King Lot & the eleven rebel kings. Maims Grail King Pellam, ruins his castle, and turns his Kingdom into the Wasteland all with one Dollorus Stroke from the Spear of Longinus so savage not only could God not stop him from landing the blow, it was comparable to the same stroke that pierced Jesus. And this all started after Pellam’s brother died trying to kill Balin with Invisible Armor. He only died cause he unknowingly fought his brother to the death, and landed the first killing blow. Had he joined the round, Merlin said he’d be the best and bravest knight. Note: he did all this while being described as impetuous and savage, yet to draw the sword his sword, one had to be truly “virtuous without villainy, treachery, or treason”. Though the sword may also be Tyrfing from Norse mythology. All in all, if not a dual-wielding Saber, or Lancer, I’m expecting a Berserker.

That's because the most famous heroes from Norse Mythology are Gods like Thor and Tyr. They're too powerful to be regular Servants.

I think Aladdin would be kind of hard since he doesn't seem like much of a fighter, maybe Saber as he does wield a sword at times, Caster but he's using the 2 Djinn or Genies for his attacks mixed with a bit of sword, possibly Rider but that may mostly be from Disney's version. Most interesting one would be an Aladdin at the end of his journey as a Ruler.

We deffinetly need an Ottoman Emperor. Specifically Mehmed the Conqueror. He is such an important figure in both Vlads and Constantines stories and already has a finished design as an archer in a pv. Other emperors such as Suleiman the Great, Selim the Grimm, Osman the First or Bayezid the Thunderbolt would all be awesome to have too.

Salam Or what about some more obscure mythologies like the Polynesian or Australian Indigenous myth? Saladin? Mehmed II? What about King Brutus, who while it isn't historical was mentioned to be the first king of England in the old Arthurian myths while being a Trojan?
