This is actually a very good wheel! I really enjoyed using it. Everything on the wheel feels like top flight kit. Fanantec has definitely stepped up it's game of late!

In addition to moving the shifters forward with the "grooves" you can also shorten the throw of the shifters and when you do that it moves the paddles closer to the wheel even further. I have the throw adjusted as short as it will go (and still register shifts) and it feels much better than when it came out of the box.

Great review! I have had mine since it was launched a few months ago and I am really loving it! Agree with all your comments. I have my paddles mounted furthest inwards towards the hub and directly on the inside of the paddle lever (shortest throw and most resistance). As you say the screws are poking out but they are so far in that I have never noticed them while driving, if that is an issue like you said its easy to get shorter screws or cut them. As mentioned already in the comments, it has indeed real automotive quality leather. It even smells new BMW or Porsche leather :) After 50+ hours of use it has not a single small indication of wear.

What's your opinion on how the price of the soon to be released AccuForce wheel will affect the pricing for both the Bondar & ECCI Trackstar wheels...seeing as both of them will be priced higher than the expected cost of $2K that Berney is shooting for?

Sim Race Driver Having owned and used both the Bodnar and the ECCI 7000, it will be very interesting to see how the Accuforce stacks up when I finally get my hands on one. Both of the for-mentioned wheel systems are top flight in quality of materials and workmanship. With the Bodnar having the better overall performance. It cost money to make something out of the best materials where fit,finish, and durability are a priority. Like everyone else I can only speculate about what Berney and Co's wheel will be like. If it is anything like their motion simulators, which I have owned for almost 2 years now, I would expect the performance of the wheel to be very good. After all it is starting from a very strong performance point being a "direct drive" system. However, again based on what I have experienced with my motion sim, I would expect the actual materials used, fit and finish, to be less the top flight. A more of a "get er done!" kinda product. Which is really all anyone would ever need. And, all the better for the Sim Racing community in general to soon be able to get a direct drive wheel system for around half what a Bondar cost. The Accuforce has been hyped for some time now, and people who have been lucky enough to try it rave about it. But I still have yet to see anyone who owns a Bodnar system get a chance to try one and report on differences or similarities between the two systems. I am on the list to be one of the first to be able to buy one, and can't wait to put it to the test! Stay turned for a SRG shootout between them! I really hope for the good of this community that it is every bit as good as the Bodnar system. Bringing this technology to the "masses" so to speak, can be nothing but a good thing. Whether or not it will drive down the price of the other two systems remains to be seen.

Great review. Not sure what wheel to get and money isn't really an issue. But trying to decide between this wheel, the BMW, or the universal hub with maybe a momo or omp wheel. Would like to know your opinion on which you would prefer with the V2 base. Great video again and thanks

Great review as always, Barry. Not sure if it was covered (and I know it's an old review)...but can you safely detach the entire shifter assembly L bracket without any hidden springs or anything dislodging? I have one, but I'm nervous about doing it...It's my only rim so far and for older H shifter cars (especially those prone to oversteer) I'd prefer not to have paddle shifters, especially when trying to save the car from a spin and the wheel is moving quickly.

So I'm assuming the bolt is only for the V1 base right? I have the V2 with the BMW wheel and it doesn't require the bolt as far as I can tell. Even in the instructions it says the bolt is only for storage if the wheel.

Hello Barry. I have noticed people have different shaped wheels including yourself. I'm so new to this, i have nothing yet. Doing homework one might say. Can one use this wheel/Dish for any car? Second; this wheel has a flipper for gear changes. Can one turn them off and use an H pattern shifter? Third question for now please. What version PC does one need and, can it be a lap top computer? I think your reviews and the other clips you make are great. Thank you for your time and sharing your love for this hobby...

You can use this wheel to race any car you want. Or any other wheel for that matter. There a many reasons you see people using different shaped wheels. From trying to simulate, as closely as possible, the real car, to "I'm using this wheel because a got a great deal on it". So use whatever wheel you can get. Then later you can get something else to drive with, if the mood strikes you. You don't have to disable the paddle shifters on a wheel to use an H shifter. Just map the H shifter in the game you are running, and use it instead of the paddle shifters. PC would be best for sim racing applications. But you can use a laptop if it has a good enough CPU and GPU. Always get the most powerful PC or laptop you can afford for the best possible sim racing experience.

Just a hello from Brazil! Outstanding video. I have a Logitech G27 modified by myself (you can see it in my channel). I'm thinking change my wheel for a bigger one. What is the difference in game performance between a small and bigger wheel? Movement ,sensibility or just visual look?

Nice wheel setup! If you mean you want to put a bigger wheel on your G27 motor, I'm not sure how big you could go before it dampens the FFB you feel on the G27. You would have to experiment with different ones, as least that's what I would do. Thanks for watching!

Now that the CSL DD is coming, I am looking for a nice (not the WRC) round wheel and I am astonished they did not upgrade the wheel in 6 years anyhow... Especially the shifters. I agree, it's a high priced wheel! Only you can decide if it is worth it. As I have stated before, only go for this wheel if you have the extra funds available without putting yourself in debt over it. You know, like putting it on a charge card you don't pay off every month.

Its a nice wheel, good size and quality. But i hate the Button on the top right corner. Its sourrounded by a small umbrelle oh something. It is horrible. I want to use this button to look to the right side in the game. But i wrote the Fanatec Support an e Mail. Maybe its removable.

Do what you need to do to make yourself happy. The BMW rim will get the job done just as well as the 918 wheel. Only if you have the extra funds available without putting yourself in debt, I would go with the 918. It is a better quality wheel, and that's why it cost more.

Carimbo575 Hard to describe but they do feel a bit more tactile to me than the buttons on their BMW GT wheel. Which to me is a good thing.

I do own a GT3 RS and I love fanatec's products BUT they lost me when they started charging 400€ only for a wheel rim! This wheel+wheel base+CSP you're looking at a 1000€ while US citizens are charged 1000$ (782€). I relly don't get this... They're charging a lot for stuff that, as good as it it, can be sold for a lot less. I think they're taking advantage of an emmerging and constantly growing community with not that much options at low prices. Nevertheless great review. If this wheel has 11 buttons or so, why would anyone need the universal hub?? Is this why this wheel is more expensive?? Thanks, keep it up!

José Borges I agree, for the casual sim racer, these systems are a bit over kill. There are plenty of very fast drivers out there, known as aliens, that are using G27, and even DFGT wheel systems. But if you crave more realism, unfortunately it will cost you a lot more than those wheel systems. But I think if you consider what some folks spend on their hobby of choice, like fishing, golfing, hunting, etc..., it's really all kind of relative. Glad you enjoy my video's.

On the BMW rim you can adjust the stalk/bracket with the slotted holes were they mount to wheel, gives you some adjustment to bring the paddles closer to the rim, would have thought they will be the same?

Yes it is the same. I do mention the slots, but called them "groves" in the video. I had used all the space available in the slots, but it was still too long a throw for my tiny little hands!

Very interesting, but no mention of the price... Fanatec are not upping their game, they're upping their prices. At $400, there'd better not be stitching errors and the carbon fiber paddles better not be a $50 extra. Having to modify such a pricey wheel to get the paddles within reach is unbelievable. For $400, it should be nothing less than perfect.
