Hey everyone, I know a lot is going on in the world right now, and it's kind of a strange time to be posting a video like this. But I figured that sometimes a bit of escapism from the insanity and the horror is a good thing, even if it's just for... holy shit 27 minutes?? I made a 27 minute movie review in the middle of a fucking pandemic are you kidding me??? In all seriousness, I know it's all really scary right now. It can be easy to forget what's important in the middle of all this worldwide pandemic stuff. Remember to take cake of yourself and be safe. Stay indoors unless completely necessary, practice social distancing, and wash your hands (and your phone) after you touch a surface that could potentially be infected. But in addition to that, take care of yourself mentally too. It's easy to ignore, but this is all going to strain every one of you emotionally and I think it's important to be mindful of the things you care about. Take a second to breathe and relax. Remind a loved one that they're important to you. And for the love of god, stop buying all of the GODDAMN TOILET PAPER. Love you guys, and it's all going to be ok. I promise.

Dude, in the comic scene of Cassandra Cain you're talking about, she became one of my favourite comic character ever. She deserved so much more. To me she should have been our Cass in the movie. Pretending to be an "innocent" girl to take out black mask, before in the end, with no one noticing while Harley and the BoP would have been in danger, changing into her batgirl or orphan persona to destroy black mask and his goons

The point about heroes and body counts is so true. Lots of movies have their heroes care about avoiding casualties one second, then kill a bunch of nameless randoms the next. One of my gripes with Black Panther (otherwise a movie I love) is T'Challa switching on a dime from "we can't afford a shootout" to "let's leave crushed and mangled body strewn across a major city".

I really didn't like this film. I had some faith that the movie would've turned out better, but I was wrong. Cassandra Cain shouldn't have been in this film because they got her character completely wrong. Also, the marketing wasn't that great either(I think this is the main reason a lot of people don't support this film).

I didn’t like it, and I have a few reasons 1: HARLEY IS NOT DEADPOOL. They tried way too hard to make her into female Deadpool, and all of her quirkiness didn’t work for me. 2: Cass is not Cass. I one hundred percent agree, but want her to be Spoiler instead. She fits that role so much better. 3: Birds of Prey... Where’s Barbara? I mean yeah, this Batman doesn’t seem to have partners anymore, but she could still exist. 4: Black Mask. Why’d you kill him off? He’s incredible, and could have been used in later movies. 5: It feels like the R-Rated Director’s Cut of a PG-13 movie. It feels like it’s trying to tell young teen girls(who can’t legally see this movie without a guardian) that women can be powerful. And also, the fight scenes may be really well done, but they are nowhere near violent enough for an R-Rated superhero movie, and feel like they were less violent scenes with CGI blood edited over it all.

To be honest, having Harley Quinn as A feministic character and The Main Character overall felt unnecessary. Since The movie was supposed to focus on the Birds Of Prey group, Wouldn't it be better if Harley Quinn was replaced with A more appropriate choice for A lead character? It should be some DC Hero we haven't seen before on the big screen, Some hero who can help The Birds Of Prey to take down Black Mask while Batman's probably busy. My choice as the lead character to replace Harley would be Barbara Gordon/Batgirl. I think that Batgirl can fit and work as The Main character, especially since DC to me should use her in a live-action Batman Movie, If it's done right, of course. How It would work is that we would see that Barbara Gordon is often overshadowed by the men in her life. I don't mean it in a full-feministic way, but sort of exploring Barbara's life as Batgirl and out of her hero persona. We would see how She's considered an Amateur sidekick to Batman and also explore her relationship with her father Jim Gordon, Played by JK Simmons to be exact. That casting choice for JK Simmons as Jim Gordon was badass to me, it's A damn shame he made one appearance in Justice League though... Black Mask would be after Batgirl's Barbara Gordon persona but not her Batgirl persona because Roman Sionis wants revenge against Commissioner Gordon and The G.C.P.D For the many times they attempted to take him & his criminal empire down so He goes after his daughter to break him. The Birds Of Prey team would consist of The Huntress, Black Canary, and Thea Queen/Speedy. The reason why they're in the film is that they want to take down Black Mask's criminal empire as well so Barbara Gordon/Batgirl would sort of convince them to work with her to take Him down together, which would be a big break for Batgirl and the Birds Of Prey group. As for Commissioner Gordon, he doesn't know whether or not to trust the Birds Of Prey team since he thinks they could be a threat but eventually discovers that they're on the good-guy side. Also, I find Batgirl to be a far more appropriate choice since she's In The group after all and I think Batgirl would be a better character For A "Girl-Power" Kind of DC movie. What do you think of that Idea for the movie instead? To me, It would mean that The Birds Of Prey can feel more complete and we can forget about Harley and Joker's awful performances in Suicide Squad...Also, I think it would feel like an ACTUAL Birds of Prey film. Plus, We can explore Harley Quinn-focused stories later going forward, Maybe In A Gotham City Sirens movie which I think would've been better. What do you think of that?

There NEEDS to be a Green Arrow and the Black Canary video game. Something open world like Spider-Man PS4 and with a joint character system like Assassins Creed Syndicate so you can walk around as Green Arrow or Black Canary. There can be side missions where it doesn’t matter which character you play as and main missions for a specific character. You can have custom outfits, and each character would have different play styles, combat moves, vehicles (like Canary’s motorcycle) powers and talents. There are so many Green Arrow and Black Canary villains that could be used to keep the game fun, and honestly, Black Canary and Green Arrow just deserve better. They aren’t in that many pieces of media beyond Birds of prey (the movie and show) the Arrow verse show (which wasn’t that good for like half the seasons and Oliver doesn’t even end up with Dinah also he was so uptight and one note the dude was Batman with a bow) and they appear sometimes in the animated shows and they’re like never in the movies. Idk I’d play it I’m sure lots of other DC fans would play thanks for coming to my TedTalk.

Great video dude! I specially like the idea of switching Cassandra for Harper. Not only Harper would fit much better the movie's version of Cassandra, but also, with this, DC/Warner could had kept Cassandra for a sequel, in which they could have Cassandra more close to her comic book version and have Lady Shiva as the main villain (it would be awesome to see a fight between her and Black Canary). If I could say something that bothered me in that amusement park action scene with Barracuda in the background is that it's just a decently well choreographed action scene with a good song thrown in there, I feel like action scenes should have a better connection with the music, like the pool cue scene in Shaun of the Dead with Don't Stop Me Now(or any scene ever made by Edgar Wright) or the Church scene in Kingsman with the Free Bird solo in the background

Personally if I made a Birds Of Prey movie I would still include Dinah Lance/Black Canary, Helena Bertinelli/Huntress, and Barbara Gordon/Oracle (formerly Batgirl, now known as Oracle) on the main team, with Lady Shiva (instead of Cassandra Cain) and Jade Nguyen/Cheshire as secondary villains. The villains are still Roman Sionis/Black Mask with his masked henchmen as well as Victor Zsasz, who is a hired mercenary. The plot follows Barbara Gordon working alongside two new vigilantes in Gotham City, Black Canary and Huntress. Their current goal is finding wanted crime lord Black Mask. Black Canary and Huntress attempts to uncover his identity at an auction in the city's Chinatown district, where they meet Victor Zsasz, a known mercenary along with two deadly fighters, Lady Shiva and Cheshire. Zsasz alerts Black Mask who orders Lady Shiva and Cheshire to take out the pair of heroines. The two give chase in Uptown Gotham before returning to their headquarters. Barbara gives some background on why she is so dedicated on finding Black Mask, several years back, when she was Batgirl, she and Batman were on a stakeout of an illegal deal between Black Mask and The Joker with Harley Quinn at his side. The villains got away with their score but not before Barbara was shot in the back by Joker's gun. Since that day, she was bound to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Her team mates understand her situation and promise to keep trying their hardest. Near the end, it's revealed that Lady Shiva and Cheshire were double agents contacted by Barbara to infiltrate Black Mask's organization, the team outs Roman Sionis as Black Mask who retaliates by broadcasting from his family's steel factory and challenges the heroines to a showdown which they accept. The team unites and defeats Black Mask who is sent to Blackgate Penitentiary and gets occasional visits from Zsasz who is revealed to be his lover. The team celebrates with a brunch at a diner and is then deployed on their next mission: defeat Harley Quinn. (Bruce Wayne appears in a post credits scene confirming Barbara's past partnership with Batman in this world.) In the scene, she is at Bruce's lake house telling him about her team and says that Dinah would be a worthy candidate for The Justice League. Bruce says he'll talk to the others about the idea. Sidenote: Roman and Victor are gay here mostly because I don't feel there are enough DC villains out there who are part of the LGBTQ+ community but also it would make this world more inclusive and down to Earth.

I still think “Black Canary & Huntress” should have their own spin off (maybe a DCU streaming or HBOMAX series that’s connected to the DCEU). The story should explore both Dinah and Helena’s origin stories. With Dinah’s mentor and trainer being “Wildcat” and Helena living with her new family. The antagonist could either be “Sportsmaster” or even “Lady Shiva”.

I don't understand the opening. Even one of the youtube channels that has something to say against stuff like this, I think, if I remember correctly, didn't say it was like that. I think I've rarely seen complaints about them not being very "sexy", considering, well, Margot Robbie walks throughout the movie showing her belly button and stomach and the outfit Black Canary has, while both not being particularly sexual in an obvious way, are more skin showy than I'd prefer and think is necessary. I think it's an assumption to suggest someone disliking the movie dislikes it for sexist reasons. There are similar group of people that may suggest this movie is feminist propaganda and such, have expressed like for Wonder Woman and have pushed for Alita Battle angel as a movie, a movie with a woman of color as the lead, so I think it's lumping them in and painting what I think may be a more wide ranging group, with a single brush. This doesn't mean there isn't that among the group that dislike the movie. The line up of videos you posted weren't even all talking about the movie itself.

I did like this film a lot but some things bugged me, first of all, the actual birds of prey, besides Harley, didn't get enough screen time, second of all, I think they underutilised Zsazz, in the comics hes a crazed murderer with all the scars on him already, in this film, he's basically just another one of black masks goons who gets taken out so easily, this could've been zsazz before his crazed murdering days, but this film is rated r so they could've done a lot more with his character (he probably has and I can't remember for the life of me), and last of all, I didn't like that they killed off black mask, he was a great villain that deserved to be in more movies, so to have him killed off in one film really disappointed me. Other than that, I really liked this film, not the best film, but definitely a massive improvement from suicide squad.

I love ALL of your fixes but I have two things I would love to add. Since I know this is a proto-BoP movie I do want to add that the most IMPORTANT member of that team is Oracle. So having BoP without her makes little sense to me BUT if you add her in discreetly then maybe we’ve got a winner there. With this new Dinah route then we could say that she gets her phone hacked and the green mask and the warbled edited voice of Barbara Gordon tells her to meet her at the clock tower only to go ‘through the screen’ and find Barbara wearing the mask. The other thing I have to add is the fact that although I ADORE the fight choreo of this movie I found Dinah’s a bit underwhelming. If only a bit more of a martial arts mix, using a different style depending on the opponent... but honestly that’s more of a nit-pick than anything.

I really like your rewrite of Birds of Prey. It fixed the problems I noticed without getting rid of what I like about the film. But no joke, the way you seemingly just disregard anyone who's against politically agenda driven filmmaking as "sexist assholes" and "dickwads" who probably "didn't even go see the movie" is flat out insulting, wrong, and ignorant of you. Doing that is like calling someone an SJW or Feminazi just because they liked Wonder Woman or calling someone an MCU fanboy just because they like Iron Man 2 or Age of Ultron. Quick side note: I'm kinda surprised that you're ok with how much they changed the look of Black Canary since you're such a HUGE fan of the character. I CANNOT stress this enough, expecting an adaptation to be fairly loyal to it's source material is 100% ok. If we never complained when an adaptation throws away what we identify a character with then there's no point in even saying they're the same character. Personally i think the movie should have as title : "Harley Quinn and the birds of prey". As for the plot, it could had been like this : The plot would still have Harley as the protagonist, exploring her break up with the Joker and her attempts to finally get out of his manipulation. This is when the movie could take a diffent direction than the final product : Rather than having the movie showcasing the birds of prey origin, the heroines could already be a established group, formed by Oracle, Huntress and Black Canary. The trio would recruit Harley Quinn to help them capture a criminal who is using the same gimmicks as the Joker. Since Harley is the only one who knows the Joker better than anyone, the Birds of Prey would have no choice but to ask for her help. The addition of Barbara Gordon would serve to help Harley development. At first Oracle would be a mysterious character, only talking to the team by communicator. But as the movie progress she enventually reveals herself to Harley and the two could end up bonding by the fact they were both victims of the Joker. Black Mask could be in the movie, but not as villain, but rather a antagonist, wanting to kill the Fake Joker after he had kill some of his henchmen and stole his money. This would put in against the Birds of Prey, who would be against killing the fake joker, resulting having a race to capture the fake joker before the other. In the end, it would be revealed that the Fake Joker is actually Gaggy, a old member of Joker's gang and also Joker's original sidekick, before Harley Quinn's arrival. Once she entered Joker's life he felt rejected and became obsessed in proving his worth for the Clown prince of crime, just like Harley had done all those years that she worked for the Joker. This would make the final fight be much more impactfull for Harley, as she would not just helping the Birds of Prey defeating the villains, but she would be defeating a villain who represents her past self, and her victory against would showcase how Harley start to take her first steps to move away from her past with the Joker and become her own character.

Birds of prey just didn't work for me. It felt like they gave a box of cool toys to someone who had absolutely zero idea how any of them actually worked or what to do with them and just let em run wild. And the result was a movie that didn't benefit any of the pieces involved on either side of the camera. It was just disappointing. Biggest bright spot was canary. She was dope. The rest though? Nah. It wasn't good for Harley and it wasn't good for the birds.

I find it Ironic that Cassandra Cain, one of the most deadliest fighters in DC Comics, was turned into a "street rat" in a movie about a group of highly skilled fighters. The Harper Row idea is actually quite good. I don't know a lot about her character, but I think it would make sense for Harley's Partner (Sidekick) to be a "punk" Lesbian.

Agreed on most of this, although I do admit that, due to the treatment of Cassandra (and Montoya, to a lesser extent), I hated the movie. It's why, even though it would work with any other character, Huntress comforting Not Cass didn't land for me, because Cass wouldn't need that comfort, and in fact she would have made the whole Amusement Mile fight a lot easier for the Birds and Harley. Personally, while I wouldn't complain if the character was Harper, my preference would have been Holly Robinson. She's also pretty much exactly the same as the character we got in the movie (I'd argue moreso than Harper, actually, 'cause there's a few differences between Harper and Not Cass), and she's got a connection to Selina Kyle that you could make some references to in order to tease a potential Gotham City Sirens movie. Oh, and she's also gay, so bonus! Also, apparently, Cathy Yan and Christina Hodson wanted a more comic-accurate Cass, but weren't allowed to use her because DC (especially Dan Didio, who wasn't fired yet at the time this movie was made) hate Cass.

I liked the movie and the only changes I can suggest are cosmetic ones like replacing Victor Zsasz with gunslinger Tally Man since I think it would lead to some funny jokes from Harley calling him a poor man's Deadshot plus he's got a pretty far-out there outfit - a black moomoo, mask, and stove-top hat! Also I would have included a scene where Dinah wears her dead mom's Black Canary costume for the final battle to show she's accepted her destiny. Also Huntress should have at least worn a mask since she's wanted by the mob. Funny thing about Harley sleeping her way to her degree. I went to a comic convention a while ago where Paul Dini was a guest and he admitted that when he wrote her, he intended for her to be bad at her job. Harley's goal was to interview a super-villain, write a tell all book, and cash out so she could get her own TV talk show. _The Batman_ is a much closer take on his original version of her.
