Every Let's Play I've seen so far about this game EVERYONE hates Mike at first for being a dickbag. But they all start liking him by the end because he actually does his best to save everyone if you let him. He runs after Jess, he can spare Emily, he goes back for Josh and if you fuck up and move at the end he saves Sam from the wendigo and dies instead of her.

Mike is a trash tier character along with Chris and Emily. He cheated on Jess with Emily by Emily's own admission. He wanted to shoot Emily with no evidence that she would turn. He decided to go back to the sanatorium in chapter 9 like a moron when he should have waited for the helicopter. He is the cause of a lot of problems in chapters 9 and 10.

+silverblade357 The whole point of the game is that it's paying homage to literally every teen slasher movie. Characters will split up, there are jumpscares every two seconds. And each character is a trope character from horror movies. You've got the jock, the bitchy one, the slutty one, the nerd, the final girl and so forth. None of these people would really be friends in real life, but everyone had to be represented. The cool thing about this game is this: you know how you watch the teen slasher movies and yell at the characters for being idiots, saying that you could definitely survive a horror movie? This game puts that to the test.

silverblade357 When in this game do two characters try to get laid AFTER someone has died? The only characters that actually try to have sex throughout the whole thing are Mike and Jess, which was before they knew anything weird was going on. Also, a lot of the time, it's up to you to make the decisions for the characters. So it's your fault if they do something stupid. Yes, a few choices are made without your opinion, but that's mainly to propel the story in a certain direction. Also, nobody purposefully went into the woods just to "find" the monster. Mike and Jess went to have sex and didn't know about the monster. Matt and Emily went to send a signal for help from the radio tower. Chris left because they had to save Josh. Mike left because he had to find Josh to get the keys to the cable cars so that they could leave. Sam and the others left to warn Mike about the Wendigo.

silverblade357 Also, the longer you keep a character alive, the smarter and more resourceful they become. Take Emily, who kept whining for everyone to help her in the first half. In the second half, she turns her belt into a torch, ran away from the monster using her own wits, ziplined out of the mines, and ran through a snowstorm to get back to the lodge. Most of the characters get better the more you play (except Ashley).

+Jonathan Yap Ashley became my most hated character and I think she fully deserved that slap! When Chris has to either shoot himself or Ashley, Ashley says that he can shoot her to save himself "If I can do one thing in my life then let me do this for you!" Seems very selfless doesn't it? Until you might decide to take her up on that offer! If you try and shoot Ashley, she will remember that later on in the game and become vengeful about it, even though she said she was willing to die for Chris. This means that she was not being serious and was hoping Chris would shoot himself! DX And if you try to shoot her you essentially doom Chris to die! Because when Chris tries to run away from the Wendigo, Ashley decides to not let Chris in the cabin and watches as the Wendigo noms his head off....... you bitch! DX And even though there is no evidence to suggest that Emily will turn into a Wendigo from a mere bite (Emily would never have turned into a Wendigo!) she is the first to condemn her to die! Even though she knows that Emily leaving the safe zone will result in her death! Ashley works Mike into hysterics enough for him to try and shoot Emily! Screaming at him to "FUCKING SHOOT HER!" What a great friend you are! Emily slapping Ashley was the best thing ever! XD

I know she kept whining for everyone to help her in the first half, but in the second half, she turns her belt into a torch, ran away from the monster using her own wits, ziplined out of the mines, and ran through a snowstorm to get back to the lodge. You have to remember that she's only nineteen and she did all this. Ashley would probably just sit in a ball and start crying. Not to mention the fact that her insults are hilarious!

+bulavo I wanted Sam, Chris and Ashley to survive most. I was indifferent to Matt and Jessica. I despised Josh, Mike and Emily to begin with, but Mike grew on me towards the end. I tried to keep them all alive though since, though most of them were shitty people, none of them (except perhaps Josh) deserved to die. In the end though only three of them survived for me: Sam (escaped the lodge at the end), Chris (escaped the lodge) and Jessica (made it out of the mine). The others: Ashley (head torn off by a wendigo - they really trick you with that one since moments before you see a cutscene showing that Jessica is alive but the survivalists notebook says the wendigo can mimic humans so you kind of go in thinking there's a 50:50 chance), Matt (meat-hooked in the mine - the first actual death as it turns out... so much for "subverting the horror clichés" Until Dawn), Josh (head crushed by the wendigo - couldn't care less what happened to that piece of shit), Emily (killed in the explosion at the lodge) and Mike (killed in the explosion). Overall quite a fun experience. Not sure it qualifies as a game though, much like Telltale games, Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain the term "interactive movie" seems more apt.

sooo we just gunna ignore the fact that hes a compete and total dick responsible for most of what happened in this game? He was majorly involved with the death of joshes sisters at the start of the game. He locked josh in a shed after the prank bullshit because he was too much of a dick to understand the logic that it couldnt have been him who took jess from the cabin since that cabin was like an hour away from the main house forcing them to go into the mines to get the ski lift key (that they didnt even use because rescue crews came) also that line he used on jess the whole "We can start with alittle making out and see where it goes from there" is the exact same line that he used at the start of the game on hannah joshes sitter during the prank that killed her. Mike was complicate in the prank but it was still Emily and Jess's idea in the first place and Mike immediately regrets it when Hannah is humiliated, also Ashley and Matt were also complicate in the prank as well so Mike isn't the sole blame. Locking Josh in the shed was completely sensible on Mike an Chris's part, *Josh tortured Ashley, Chris and Sam for hours* and yes I know Josh is schizophrenic but doesn't make his actions any less cruel even if they were justified. Josh also leaves everybody open the actual threat, the Wendigos.

I remember disliking Emily most of the game. (even though I love the actress, shes so funny in Superstore) But she was bad ass in the mines and all her decisions were smart. Telltale makes no excuses or grandiose claims, they give you a small self contained story where the events are tightly controlled, thus making it easier for choices to at the very least, feel like they matter.

I kinda want to see their take on B:TS, but after experiencing what they did to Quantum Break, I'm hesitant - QB is beside its flaws an amazing game with a small, but loyal fanbase that is still deciphering 1000 pages worth of story, but it's honest trailer made it look like absolute shit and will probably scare away new gamers from trying it out. Here's hoping for a sequel or at least a follow up game from the same developer. Sure there wasn't a heap of gameplay in this, but it nails the horror movie feel. A really fun game that we need more of in the market. Hopefully if they make a sequel to the order they can make it a bit longer. it was so damn short but heaps of fun to play while it lasted. might finally have some really decent exclusives on PS4 in the future. Oh wait, Street fighter V is out soon.
