AVATAR: The Last Airbender Cast Panel - Sci-Fi Valley Con 2023

From Avatar: The Last Airbender, voice actors Michaela Jill Murphy, Cricket Leigh, Dante Basco, Grey Delisle, Greg Baldwin, and Jennie Kwan gave a panel along with bonus voice actor Janet Varney from The Legend of Korra. They talked about their roles, experiences, and answered fan questions.
Michaela Jill Murphy (also known as Jessie Flowers) is Toph in Avatar: The Last Airbender, but is also known for roles in Meet the Robinsons, Finding Nemo, Stalgia, The Ant Bully, The Legend of Korra, Camp WWE, and more.
Cricket Leigh plays Mai in Avatar: The Last Airbender, and is also known for Red Faction II, Celebrity Deathmatch, Terra, Need for Speed: Underground 2, Saints Row 2, Fixing Rhonda, and more.
Dante Basco is Prince Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender, and is known also for The Legend of Korra, Hook, Star Wars: Rebels, Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures, Camp Camp, Artificial, and more. He co-hosts the Braving the Elements Podcast with Janet Varney.
Grey Delisle (aka Grey Griffin) portrays Azula in Avatar: The Last Airbender, and is also known for her roles in Scooby Doo, The Loud House, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Bumblebee, Invincible, The Simpsons, Rugrats, The Loud House, and many more.
Greg Baldwin is the second Uncle Iroh in Avatar: The Last Airbender and is also known for Samurai Jack, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Fur is Gone, The Legend of Korra, Rainbow Six: Lockdown, Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard, and more.
Jennie Kwan portrays Suki in Avatar: The Last Airbender, but is also known for When They Cry, Tokko, Rozen Maiden, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, .hack//G.U. Last Recode, Raya and the Last Dragon, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, High-Rise Invasion, Entourage, and many more. She has also appeared as Miss Saigon on Broadway.
Janet Varney is Korra in The Legend of Korra, and is also known for her work in Platonic, Harley Quinn, Country Comfort, Fortune Rookie, Take My Wife, Warehouse 13, and many more. She is the co-host of the Braving the Elements Podcast with Dante Basco.

Love Janet’s Dante impressions. Also very sweat how Janet and Jenny got so emotional and teary eyed hearing Greg tell the story about Mako’s daughter and grandson. And then, Toph’s VA should’ve said to Janet whenever she mentioned that Asami is hot, and asked for fun if they should fight over her, that “I already kicked your… in Korra, as an old lady, imagine me in my prime, I would’ve destroyed you”, doing her best old Toph impression.

Animation is not just for kids. There’s so much deepness written into avatar that goes over a kids head. I was 16-19 watching avatar. A little older than the demographic. Also a lot of anime is totally not made for kids at all. Avatar reminds me more of anime than traditional kids cartoons

it was designed for an audience of kids and teens and for the occasional adult walking past the TV. and it has something for everyone based on how well received it is. there are lessons in the show that a child could navigate with guidance and an example, which is what the show provided.

Listening to Greg Baldwin talk about meeting Mako’s daughter and grandson and how they reacted to hearing him do the voice brought tears to my eyes. They say that the first thing you forget about someone after they’re gone is their voice. So for Greg to give the gift of connecting the daughter and grandson to Mako again is very special.

Azula's VA never fails to flat out embarrass Dante w/some very suggestive comments about Zuko & Mai. I remember a panel where she just wouldn't stop. Dante said he was a Zuko & Katara shipper, but then said, "Mai's cool. If I was Zuko & I saw her at a club, I'd hol-luh at Mai", then Grey said something quite ronchy & in this interview, the actress for Mai is literally right next to him & Azula's VA just said, "Little does she know he has a kink for broken teeth"😂

I was already an adult (27) when I got into ATLA… my son was 6 and my daughter was 2 when the show first came out. I fell in love with this show, and my son at the time, even though he didn’t totally understand it, he loved it. Both my children now are 24 and 20 and they’ve rewatched it and they understand it waaaay more.
