I think there's a chance an anime Shawn would like is Tokyo Godfathers - On Christmas Eve, three homeless people find an abandoned baby with a note asking that whoever finds her should take care of her, which starts this little adventure to find the parent. Great animation and lots of fun character interaction.

Evil Dead the Musical kicks fucking ass. All the songs are really great, and depending on the budget of the production, the on-stage gore can get really crazy in a fun way. Like all productions, quality varies depending on the talent and budget, but the album version of the songs are some of my favorite musical theater songs ever.

I second them watching sports anime for anime movie club as I think shawn would enjoy it a lot more, but if that's not a reasonable option i'd also recommend "Redline". No deep psychological plot just insane animation for an hour and a half that took seven years to animate. I put it on for people who don't really like anime much but still want to check out an anime movie, usually wins them over because its frankly awesome

Evil Dead the musical is so damn rad. The one I went to, I snagged tickets at a sold out show in the splash row. I unknowingly sat in front of a sprinkler system and was drenched in fake blood for 2 minutes straight multiple times throughout the show and the music and everything was fucking great. I’m definitely seeing it this year again!

If you want an anime movie I think everyone will enjoy, I recommend The Castle of Cagliostro. It's actually Hayao Miyazaki's first film and essentially laid the ground work for Ghibli studio to happen later.

It's hard to choose just 4 anime movies... but if you want a little of everything, these are the 4 I think you should do: DBZ: Battle of Gods - quintessential DBZ movie. Not the best, but a solid movie based on an anime/manga. Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke - critically acclaimed, lots of accolades, good ass movies. Perfect Blue - thought provoking, absolute masterpiece. Redline - visually stunning, fast paced, fun time.

Has shawn ever watched paprika? Its kinda like inception but different. What about studio ghibli's castle of cagliostro? It's a lupin the 3rd and i think shawn likes caper films. Shin chan has a few standalone films. There is one where they have an adventure at a worlds fair thats pretty good. What about japanese films based off of manga like the story of riki-o? Though not a film, samurai champloo might be right up shawns ally. Cool hip hop music, smooth animations,and they even have an episode where americans come and introduce baseball to the japanese. My first anime was ranma 1/2. Nihao my concubine is a fun movie but it assumes you know a lot about the amine already. But you guys are also watching dragonball so.....
