Anthony Daniels, Samuel Jackson and Christopher Lee did reprise their roles in The Clone Wars (2008) film

“Who’s the protagonist” for TPM has seemed a strange complaint to me as it has a similar mirroring of the character situation in ANH. For the first section of the movie and on, we follow the plot from two characters that are only caught in the midst of it (Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan, 3PO/R2), then we’re shortly introduced to the central protagonist tied to the film’s plot (Queen Amidala- stopping the invasion of Naboo, Princess Leia- ensuring the destruction of the Death Star), then further beyond that we’re introduced to the protagonist of the trilogy (Anakin/Luke). It’s a rhyming setup. There’s multiple layers of point of view which I think aids the type of film that these are. But yes, it seems these movies have always been criticized as well as loved. As far as the stories go, I will always be the biggest fan of the man who created and knows it, George Lucas. There will be some good and some bad within and outside of that.

McGregor and Christensen already agreed that the negative reception to the Prequels was driven by the media and not by the actual fanbase, which they described as lovely and supportive.

@@curzon9619 it was fanbase. The first viral videos of the internet were negatively about ep 1 having no protagonist. Luuukes sabers forums were filled w shred posts to nauseum. U can't change the reality we lived. Fans were the same.

@@xxxgothmanxxx Okay, sure. You know better than the two lead actors involved in the films, who would've received the brunt of this criticism. Whatever you say.

Simple.... the sequel Trilogy and acolyte are objectivly bad. Its ironic because the people who praised the sequel Trilogy most hated the prequels the most, including jj abrams himself. To be honest, i didn't even know about any hate to star wars until force awakens when people such as yourself kept making videos like yours as some "argument " for the poor writing of Disney.

@@roycehuepers4325 I lived it. Hate has existed my whole life. Not 1 website or message board was positive on prequels. Rotj hate and han shooting first hate made it into several Kevin Smith films. @@roycehuepers4325 OBJECTIVELY they were both statistical successes and critical successes compared to prequels and clone wars. So objectively the kpi says they r not bad, u r referring to consumer opinion which is subjective, none of whom.are qualified to critically analyze the technique or quality of film TV. Critics do that but haters don't want to value critical opinion when it disagrees w their taste

@xxxgothmanxxx by that logic, cult classics are bad. They usually don't gain a following for a few years even decades after. Princess Bride and Labrynth for example. Brilliant movies, objectively

@xxxgothmanxxx OR you were focusing on people on the internet at a time when people really weren't on forums and such. I know OF what you're talking about, as I watched one of the old documentaries on Star Wars. 2010 I want to say but I can't remember for sure when it was released. It was on the social impact of the movies. But while the MAJORITY of fans loved it, you had a segment complaining about how "racist " jarjar was.
