I watched the whole thing and as a woman with a lot of hormonal/general pain issues who wanted to be sterile since teenhood, I appreciate your message to the guys. Doctors are more likely to believe men than women, I've had my voice written off as just being overdramatic, and all those doctors were women too, it's to the point where I'm suspicious of every doctor. It's really sick how much the government wants to police other people's bodies, regardless of their parts and medical issues. I didn't really talk much on Roe v Wade either because I was in the middle of a busy 6-day work week when it happened but I'm really truly scared for people who will be hurt physically, emotionally and financially as a result of all this.

Still, I'm only 23 and the doctors very rarely allow you to get snipped at that young age. Even for this company I had to have a 90 day post consultation grace period before I could actually get the procedure. I also had to pay out of pocket which set me back a bit.

I’ve had many similar sentiments and cautionary inclinations swirling around in my brain for a while now too, and I’m just really thankful that someone like you with such a large and influential and intelligent platform is willing to share your personal opinions, observations and knowledge surrounding this issue. I particularly like the part where you point out that birth control and pregnancy risks should have never become solely sexually active womens responsibility to bare. Just for reference I’m a 41 year old child free woman basically drowning in poverty and exploitative rents and chronic displacement for over a decade in California which I would gladly leave if I could afford to relocate elsewhere, and have previously worked in childcare. Regardless of whether you want to be a parent, it’s important that you are aware of whether their is an infrastructure to support you and your family. Child care is a huge issue that has always been on my mind as someone who has struggled to even pay rent while working in childcare and education. If you’re planning on becoming a parent you should invest in your educators or become one yourself. The neoliberal mindset of acting like you can just do something soulless but lucrative for work and produce offspring and expect other way less fortunate people than you to keep sacrificing themselves to educate and raise your kids for nothing with no security or support whatsoever is a very selfish and delusional attitude to be entrenched in. But that’s the majority of America for ya. I think us proud “child free” folk probably have more resonance online than anywhere else. Busy and overloaded parents barely have the time to engage with this discourse for obvious reasons, so I’m glad at least that the concept of not littering the earth with offspring you don’t plan on educating or raising yourself is being ultimately questioned and challenged for some very urgent and viable reasons. Kids deserve better and so do adults, parents and child free alike. Women’s healthcare and welfare and access to stability is generally directly related to the health of its over all population. The thing is vasectomies have pretty low reversibility rates - around 75%. Ofc female contraception can be highly invasive and cause a range of side-effects, but it doesn't give you a 1 in 4 chance of being infertile for life...

You know what sucks as a trans mtf person? It’s not that spoken about but I wanna have a natural pregnancy with my partner, then undergo hormones+surgery. I think it’s common for men to feel anxious about a vasectomy, but can you imagine how much worse it is for lgbt people? Especially there’s conflicting research on the effects of hormones in mtf trans, makes it confusing to just wanna have a family and be myself. Just, don’t feel worried about getting a vasectomy, but know the risk going into it. Freezing your sperm is quite expensive by the way, in my country atleast

Freezing sperm is expensive? Really? That's so fucked. It just requires a small bottle of sorts and space to collect it. I froze quite a bit for free, so it was never a worry. Not that I think I'll ever use them, but freezing it was mandatory to get on hrt soo

I know this is not the most important comment here, but can we please talk about Austin or Anthony spinning all their excerpts around that genuinely makes it so difficult to read.
