His music isn’t anything revolutionary or mind-blowing but his voice and cadence are so fun and easy on the ears. I also appreciate how his come-up was so organic and old-school. He gained a local following in his hometown and grew overtime, and you can tell that gave him a good sense of self-awareness. He’s also incredibly charming and funny outside of his own music. He’s not arrogant like other young rappers. He doesn’t make my favorite music but he’s one of my favorite celebrities right now.

Just. Be. Yourself. If you have the talent as a white rapper, be YOUR self and tell your story. It will get you the most respect from the people who matter. Jack Harlow is genuine. He's goofy. He's living the life he set his mind to when he was a fucking tween, and i understand the feeling of "wow. i deserve to feel myself right now." that he carries. That said, it will wear out at some point. Hopefully, he grows and matures at a quick enough rate for his core audience.

When you compare the reasons everyone has for disliking Jack Harlow's prominence with the reasons everyone has for disliking Post Malone's prominence, Jack Harlow doesn't look that bad. Post has some more good singles and one more good album than Harlow, but Harlow also doesn't talk about rap like it's for degenerates while Malone's position on rap is basically just a more socially acceptable version of Ben Shapiro's take on rap.

Well I mean he’s been rapping and writing and recording since 12 years old. He doesn’t have to go AS hard as he used to right now. Right NOW it’s important for him to have longevity and maintain a career make MARKETABLE music... I can imagine he still puts a shit ton of work in, behind the scenes. He’s still young AF idk why some people hate so hard. I don’t think he’s “mid” I think he’s right where he SHOULD be he doesn’t get to where he’s at by accident. Also considering he still has a very young career of course he still needs time to mature

I know it’s all opinion. But me personally I wouldn’t say Jack is an “average” artist.. I think he’s just trying to take his time with this shit. Not trying to over do or under do anything. He can only get better with time like any serious artist would. I feel like if you try to go extremely hard on EVERYYYY single thing you put out, it’s gonna take away the fun from being creative and playful with song making. & It would end up being stressful and a headache at that point.. Idk that’s just how I look at it

@blakehammer95592 жыл бұрын
I Sympathize with sentiment. Nothing is wrong with your argument nor the one Shawn C presented. It’s just that the perspective is ignorant-that Jack is new to the attention he’s getting and that he has a lot of room to grow. He’s got a lot of positive attributes that you want to see in a rapper like authenticity and decent music to back it up. He’s the type of person you want in the scene, and until he grows out of touch by some measure-condemnation of his position in the game is a sort sighted and close minded conclusion to reach. It’s objectively gatekeeping against a dude who’s a better guy then most white rappers. And even if he ends up being a piece of sh*t in the near future, at least he provides his intelligence, being committed to the game since his start up, not giving up in the first many years because people weren’t clickin with his sh*t, and once found his wave, he didn’t fall off. He has taken his opportunity and has fostered a fan base. An accomplishment that most wannabe rappers fail to accomplish. I get that his music isn’t quite the greatest in terms of quality and that other people may deserve more attention than him. He’s a white rapper-and is deserved of the criticism based upon the history white rappers have fostered. Why should we hold Harlow to a different kind of standard? He isn’t exactly the most decorated rapper when it comes to making an impact on the mainstream. These are valid criticisms serving to reaffirm my statement of sympathy. However if you f*ck with him or even have a grasp on his place within the game. You know he’s different. I don’t have to repeat the reasoning behind my sentiment. We have enough proof. At the very least, we know he’s a smart dude who is deserved of the attention he’s getting. He may not be no Kendrick, but he’s proof that preparation and hard work pays off. (Not to say that statement is always true, but in his case the boxes are checked off.) (Btw I haven’t watched the video yet-now that I am I’m glad fantano has a similar sentiment) I need to stop watching debate bros content lol

The issue with Jack Harlow is that his more trending songs have been a lot about "I'm this good - most of you all can't measure/be trusted" etc etc etc.... eventually that subject matter is going to get overused. So his staying power is going to be truly tested once he's forced to variate. We can give it a pass when there's a big gap between releases, but when he starts releasing more often, it can get stale pretty quickly.

@@Martyrdomer Right? Tf is this dude even talking about 🤦🏽♂️
@lightsoda74452 жыл бұрын
@@MartyrdomerDisagree. Those artists brag, but notice how I didn't say bragging in regards to Jack - I named a specific line that fits all of his lyrics - and usually in regards to him, it's not about coming from the bottom and rising up - it's directed at the people around him and even the listeners in regards to his opinion of himself. Jack doesn't even have a struggle to pry from when it comes to actual bragging (rags to riches) because he was never in rags to begin with. Other artists that do brag, also make up for it with actually clever punchlines. Jack doesn't have that, his wordplay is actually quite sub-par and usually says the same thing, poorly, multiple times, in the same track. Now imagine that, but over 10 tracks, or 20. You see where we're going with this? All his other songs where he attempts to do anything else are low quality and never buzz like this stuff - as well as not having the worldplay and punchlines to carry them - thus riding this specific topic over and over again will test his audience in the near future. It's good for now, but it will become stale pretty quick.
@waynesmith77462 жыл бұрын
@@lightsoda7445 he mostly just talks about His city Being on the come up And talking about being big. But I’d say he does have the “struggle” of grinding his way here. He had to do a lot of small shows, make tracks, and was grinded until he finally got big. I think he should focus on that more. Maybe On how his life has been affected by this etc. Sundown was one of his most critically well received and that song goes a decent bit (albeit lightly) on his grind. He also dabbled with r and b with big Sean and Bryson tiller. He definitely can do more and do more subject matter, I think he just really needs to sit down and decide on how he wants to approach it.
