I just watched ‘The Color Purple’ for a third time last night, except this time, it was with my mother & 10 yr old sister. In every second of the entire movie, I don’t know how, but me and my mother’s hearts were intertwined. We felt the weight of the movie and together watched Celie’s beautiful story unfold. My mom cried, I cried, my sister laughed at us crying😂, and then we all laughed. A Mothers Love sometimes feels like it can stop time. I don’t know why, it’s a little scary sometimes, because I don’t want the feeling to leave, but I realize that, the way to keep it, is to lean into it. Lean into your fears, lean into what you want to say , what you want to do. Because, like this song, the YOU that YOU WILL become, will thank you for it. I am soo Proud of Fantasia Monique Barrino Taylor. I am on the same road of self discovery and self love as her. We are the same age and my Name is Monique and for years I suffered with self doubt and self sabotage. When you have a gift sometimes you still can fall short and not see yourself in the best light. I am so soo proud of Fantasia for her work as Celie in the Color Purple she is really in her renaissance era. I am soo happy for her for marrying a God fearing man that teaches and loves on her and while building and maintaining a blended family.
