Fantastic Beasts The Crimes of Grindelwald is J.K. Rowling’s second movie in the Harry Potter spinoff series designed to make a whole lot of money off of Potterheads. Eddie Redmayne returns as Newt Scamander who is once again running around and doing magical things, while other people also run around and do that same. The movie definitely raises a lot of questions. Like why is Dumbledore so secretive? What’s up with Queenie’s motivations? How come that memory wipe thing from the first movie just didn’t work? How is Professor McGonagall teaching a class before she’s even born? To answer all these magical questions and more, step inside the pitch meeting that led to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. It’s super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Grindelwald can magically change his appearance, that will be helpful if he ever has to be played by another actor. We will never mention this ability again!
@Lucifronz
@Lucifronz Жыл бұрын
Could have easily had a scene where they try to dispel the illusion again, only to be unable to. Grindelwald could then reply "couldn't risk you discovering me again before I had completed my work" or something to that effect, showing he had corrected his past mistake of only using light magic to disguise himself and this time did something more permanent, hence why he can't be turned into Johnny Depp again. But no. They just ignored it entirely and we're left to pick up the pieces of the company's cowardly business strategies.

@@JD867 Her mother is not an option, as she was a muggle. Not a witch. A sister of her father could be an option if the published screenplay didn't confirm that it is indeed Minerva herself. It's just J. K. Rowling retconning her own source material again because she thinks it's something the public wants. Dumbledore's appearance doesn't make any sense either since he was 150 when he died, so he's supposed to be in his 80's during the events of this movie.

03:07 = "Can't that entire misunderstanding be resolved by saying a single sentence though?" THAT is why I hate the Romantic Comedy Genre overall. Too many of those stories are based on a misunderstanding, falsehood, or absurd premise that could totally collapse the story if one of the characters acted like real people and explained the situation with a simple conversation or a few sentences.

When I saw FB in theaters, the whole audience just groaned when Depp was revealed. I don't think the wife-beater stuff was even public yet. I liked the first movie too. Mostly because Newt was such a fun, unique and colorful protagonist. But the second movie barely even had Newt in it. Honestly, the only part of Crimes of Grindelwald I really liked were the Hogwarts flashbacks, particularly the scene in which Newt's Bogart turned into an office desk and he admitted that his greatest fear was having an office job. I was literally thinking "Just move to some other wizarding nation that allows marriage with him, there's got to be at least one and you don't even have to risk your life in a war." I mean, newt literally mentioned how he saw the ban as absurd in the first movie. That presumably means that England's among the nations where magic/muggle marriage is legal.

Yeah, a was sort of hoping the Fantastic Beasts series was an opportunity to go in a new direction explore areas of the Wizarding World, and maybe have a Doctor Who thing with Newt constantly meeting new characters in different countries. Instead of going with a spinoff, however, they went with a Harry Potter prequel.

Did you guys forget that Credence pretty much died and the movie just retconned it like crazy? Same goes for Jacob's memory loss... what were they thinking? Such a great movie.

Jacob regaining his memories is actually set up in the first film (something I noticed when rewatching in preparation for seeing this one). Basically, in the first suitcase scene, Newt mentions that the Thunderbird's liquid only affects bad memories.

Something else I haven't seen mentioned anywhere: The character who provides Newt with a portkey as a means of travel, the one who is only seen for a couple of seconds, is played by the same actor as the character Ron "turns into" via polyjuice potion in one of the Deathly Hallows films.
