Today I ordered the DL30. I think many people would appreciate it if someone wrote about how the tool performs over a longer period of time. But I don't mean after a long time lying in a car or garage, but after a long time of working with it, using it. Leatherman or Victorinox can break....it happend but if someone has used tools from another company and Daicamping, I think it would be nice if you wrote about what do you think after a long time of use. Daicamping looks pretty nice because it's clear who it is imitating. It has useful tools and so on, but I am afraid it might be a $40 toy rather than a practical tool.(?)

Somone hrc tested a set of new leatherman cutters and it looks like it's a heat treat issue with the earlier production arcs . The cutters came in at a 4 or 5 hrc difference. I still prefer the old design. i think they take less force to use , but ive cut 14ga galv wire repeatedly and 12ga( a few times) galv grounding wire during field work and they've held up.

My question with all multi tool manufacturers is why have three screw drivers when you have a bit holder? Maybe do away with them and replace them with something else that will make more sense a package cutter a chisel or anything else.
@neoaliphant Жыл бұрын
they are multi purpose pry devices as well, like paint can tops, also you quite often find needing to swop between phillips and flathead, so emans dont need to have a loose bit while working.....

It would be crazy if they try to sold different models of the DL30 like : Having bright orange or fluo handles, a glass breaker bit driver, spring loaded pliers, having a serrated/belt cutter blade, belt clip, a milwaukee fastback inspired screwdriver and D2 steel blades. It would be the perfect backup multitool for the car and emergency situations. I think China will surprise us for the years to come

Pretty cool....I just got mine from AE ...from their 11/11 sales ...I saved a few bucks. I was thinking about getting this gold version too but decided to play it safe and got the grey. Like you I was afraid that it would be too gaudy and shiny ...but yes it looks like brass. Maybe I'll get it next time. It was my first time buying from AE and it was quite positive. Initially I messed up my address cause I put my house number on the wrong line. I then rectified it with them...and it got to me in only about 3 weeks. I wonder how the Amazon Bibury version of this compares...
@hvacbudget8600 Жыл бұрын
Very close. I love the silver and black one I recently reviewed.
@garyk4017 Жыл бұрын
I received the silver Bibury version from Amazon today. It was $42 with the coupon. The pliers pivot makes an unexpected scratchy or scraping noise, but the pliers seem to work okay otherwise. The scissors are much harder to lock than the other three outside tools. The straight blade is bent very slightly so it rubs on the inner frame of the tool when doing a one-handed deployment (it's okay when using two hands). The T-shank adapter is so tight that a medium screwdriver is needed to pry it open, rather than too easy to open as many have shown in their reviews. It seems like the QC is not the best with these tools.
@hvacbudget8600 Жыл бұрын
That seems to be an unfortunately rough tool.
@garyk4017 Жыл бұрын
@@hvacbudget8600 I'll probably contact Bibury to see what they say. Maybe they'll exchange it for a better one. Otherwise I may just return it.
@garyk4017 Жыл бұрын
@@hvacbudget8600 I received the replacement Bibury Pro from Amazon today. It has none of the problems with the original unit. The pliers pivot is much quieter, but still a bit stiffer than I'd prefer. The replacement tool is noticeably harder to close (snap shut) than the original one. All in all, the replacement unit is acceptable and much better than the first one. It seems that the QC is quite variable on these inexpensive multi-tools.

So, do we get 3CR13 steel, or maybe, probably not, something else? I'd gladly pay a little more for at least 420HC or equivalent in many of these budget tools. The specter of bottom barrel steel, with maybe somewhat low heat treating processes has held me back.I don't use a multi tool a lot, but it is kind of like my insurance policy...I probably won't need it today, but if I do it is priceless. When I do it usually finds me needing to cut something like high tensile stainless electric fence wire, or some other gnarly emergency thing or another. I do however really like your reviews. I thank you for your time and effort.

@MKIMAGOdesign5 ай бұрын
I'm not an expert, but it seems to me that nowadays few companies produce multitools made from steel better than, say, 440C and higher. Unless, of course, these are very expensive multitools. However, those generally affordable for most people are made from 420HC, 420J, and often 3Cr... or perhaps 5Cr... And let's be honest, this is not good steel. Sometimes the knife blade is made from better steel, and that's considered premium. Ganzo makes multitools entirely from 440C. Good for them. I would gladly pay twice as much for a Daicamping made entirely from 440C with good heat treatment. Then Daicamping could make individual tools from S30V or D2 (knife blade) and earn even more. A titanium handle doesn't change anything, like in the DL7. The tool might be slightly lighter, but it doesn't really make a difference. However, if the bit holder were titanium, that would be something else. Unfortunately, many things are now made to look good rather than to be durable and functional. Glass phones, soon there will be paper cars... all just so you buy, and then buy again, and then buy again.

Just got this tool, 2 days ago! Worth every penny! Just wondering, where can the replaceable file be found, or the double ended bits, as the bit holder is not magnetic? Any ideas? Thanks in advance 🙂

Thanks for watching! You can check out my other vids on the DL30. Short answer is Husky has a great double but set you can buy at Home Depot. On Amazon Klein has bits that work as well. Thanks for a great review of the DL30. How do you feel about the quality of the gold colour handles? Is the colour powder-coated onto the steel or anodized? Do you think the gold colour will rub off or wear off over time? Thanks
@hvacbudget8600 Жыл бұрын
Great question. Compared to other Swisstech models where the colors seemed spray coated this model looks a lot more finished and evenly coated. I'm not sure what the exact coating is but it looks more durable then some other budget multi tools I've handled. It probably would wear over time but it seems a step above other budget multi tool coatings.

I noticed the three colors when I ordered my DL30 about two weeks ago. Still went with the classic silver color. Use the Swisstool and the Spirit X otherwise but wanted to try a multitool with a bit of Leatherman-style while the Arc comes down in price (and hardly available here in the EU - where it is available its sold for fantasy prices right now). And yes now also until they figure out and fix the cutter issue as well... The DL30 feels really solid and great value for money!

The DL30 puts many other multitool makers to shame, it's really too good for the price. I have the standard stainless version in my car, it helped out with several tasks already. Ordered two more, the grey ones this time, to give to my brothers. I have several Leathermen, don't have a Surge yet. I hope Leatherman will one day do a Surge Plus or something (fingers crossed for a Magnacut blade on that), until then the DL30 will be its placeholder.
@hvacbudget8600 Жыл бұрын
It is definitely a great tool due to it's Leatherman Surge influence.

@@hvacbudget8600 It's a shameless clone, with some improvements, mainly the biit driver. LM's flat bits are great for the smaller tools and fit compactly in the sheath, but the Surge is supposed to be heavy duty, the flat bits simply cannot match the full size bits. I generally do not like buying clone products, but I hope the DL30 gives Leatherman some food for thought on improving their tools. I will pay the higher price gladly if I know I'm getting premium quality stuff, and LM currently disappoints in the quality department.

That is a tough question. A couple days ago I would have said definitely not. I would imagine the frame and knife metal are less durable. But now that the Leatherman replacement cutters have been redesigned and break easily. The Leatherman bits people say are very soft and need replaced regularly if you can find them, my views are changing. At the moment I would say this tool with it's better cutters and 1/4" bit driver and amazing price is much closer to Leatherman.
