Fanuropita - how to make flufy vegan (fasting) cake
This is a vegan (fasting) cake to celebrate Saint Fanourios in Greek Orthodox tradition at 27 August. This cake usualy contain 7 or 9 ingredients! Each year on August 27, the Greek Orthodox faithful bake a cake in honor of Saint Fanourios and bring it to church to be blessed. Fanourios comes from the Greek verb fanerono, which means "I reveal." He is the "saint for lost things." Worshipers believe he can help them find what they're looking for, be it a lost object, a future spouse, or even a new meaning in life. You can prepare this cake also without a reason.
INGREDIENTS:
400 g flour
-150 ml vegetable oil
300 ml orange juice + orange zest
160 g sugar + some powdered sugar (optional)
50 g walnut
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cardamom
1/4 tsp cloves
2 tsp baking powder
