Far Cry 5 - Darkest Hour 1944 - Storming the beaches of Normandy - Complete Gameplay

This map was a big job. One of the largest maps I've created with Arcade Editor, 1850Kt in file size. Lots of details went into making this map and the gameplay was very hard to balance. As the environments try to mimic the real life Dog Green and Charlie Sector there are very few covers in the deadliest sections of the beach. This is most likely the best/intended way to play the map if you want the enemies to spawn in the correct order. The biggest problem is that the Arcade editor is very limited and there cannot be that many AIs at the same time on the map so decisions had to be done. Enjoy the video!

I'm not sure if the bug still exists, but the vanilla map editor has some enemies that don't count towards the AI limit. I did this for my beach assault-type map and it worked surprisingly well. I'm actually curious as to why Ubisoft made it so low, considering my PC handled 50 on-screen enemies at once no problem. Have you considered using Map Editor mods though? They'll let you exceed the AI cap, and the maps are compatible with the base game.

My only complaint is the lack of team ai. you can use wave 1 memory to make a bunch of allies then use wave 2 to make a lot of enemies

What kind of sky did you use for this map? I usually use apocalyps Also, what kind of ground texture for the beach

I think I used wastelands as sky, then overcast for the cloud shadows to give it that cloudy feeling. on the ground I used generic mud texture combined with terrain pebbles and mud decals.

I just took inspiration from real life pictures and started to find right generic shapes and miscallenous objects to fit what I wanted achieve.

How Did you make the bunkers with Machine Guns

I just used generic shapes and textured them, placed turrets inside the bunker assets. Then I just checked if the AI can see enough from the bunkers. The Distance is the problem as the AI in the bunkers does not recognize the player until you are halfway across the beach.

thanks :) take some insipration out of my map. Real normandy beaches are even more flat topside but I always put artistic visualization to my maps and wanted to make the farm areas feel like Arras from BfV.

@@SSaNNEE100 I love the map you made it looks 99% like D-Day well I actually never seen D-Day but I have in movies and my WW2 was just a flat land of dirt and no water and just 60 enemies on far cry 4 I never played far cry 5 yet I'm looking up cool stuff made by people who make awesome stuff and so if I buy far cry 5 I will try to make what they made.

its been a long time since you made this map but I need advice. 1 how did you get the enemys to notice you and your allies so quick? Second. How do you get the rocks on the ground. Good map btw

I put few enemies on the beach like 50 meters away from the landing boat so the action would start straight away. The rocks on the ground are part of the Viatnamise bushes but I have deleted the bushes themselves and only left rock decals on the terrain. Sorry for a late response but I dont get notifications like at all.

I’d love to port my maps over to the consoles but it’s not just possible in anyway :/ The file size and the amount of the objects used in my maps is way beyond current consoles’ budget. It would give those red areas everywhere and I should heavily downgrade, probably even split a map like this into 2-3 maps to be able to release this map. Also I have now started to use a editor mod since Scarif and this removes the budget limit 😅 I think I went for almost 20 000 objects on Scarif..

Old theme isn't suitable for that fast paced and action packed game plus it's repetitive if I played the one song through out 23 min long video. I wanted to pay attention to musical atmosphere and play with multiple songs and scenarios. I love how this bundle turned out to work with my gaming flow and how some beats and gun shots get combined together and create this audiovisual experience. Battlefield V theme fitted this very well and it was just my choice for my liking. Band of Brothers soundtrack would've been a good one too but I've been listening a lot of BFV songs on Spotify while making the map. I don't think it ruined anything in particular, that's just your opinion and I appreciate it.
