"Far End of the Black" Live @ 102 .3 XLC Radio

Back in 2010, while touring to support "A Beautiful End", my band and I stopped at a radio station in Chicago to promote a local show...Though, in this radio visit, we did more than chat about the new album and the show etc... we also did a live performance in the studio of the song "Far End of The Black". This is never a very easy thing to do as most radio stations only have one or two microphones that you have to crowd around and hope for the best. This has never been shared anywhere til now :) - NOTE - The sound is not great and raw from the camera.
The station was 102.3 XLC in the Chicago area. -
My band mates:
Eli Hludzik (Drums) playing his own body and shaker.
Trace Ritter (guitar) on Acoustic guitar.
Jason Koiter (keys) on water bottle and backup vocals
And my best mate Ryan Rossi (guitar) on Acoustic guitar and back up vocals.

Oh. One more thing. I'm facing my 60th in May 2024 and I've only just discovered that I'm ADHD (I prefer ADD, being 'Inattentive' rather than 'Hyperactive') and 'Quiet' BPD, which means I direct all my rage and frustration internally, appearing ultra calm on the surface. I know your issues with Dom and your track 'Until I Wake Up' has been a great source of comfort to me. I want to thank you for 'being there', without ever knowing it. It means the world to me.

tough gig with just one mic that's badly clipping. but, it gave it a cool retro sound/feel, like around a camp fire with others joining in with percussion and acoustics etc.

So glad you are back in the spotlight. Your voice is amazing and brings back so many good memories! Such a beautiful artist! One of my friends use to make me mixed CDs of Dishwalla songs specifically Opaline in 2004. We would listen to the CDs together. He died serving in Afghanistan in 2008 and your music takes me to a place where I can revisit the memories and it feels like no time has passed. Thank you for the music and the memories.

Given the cramped circumstances, lack of audio equipment and the fact you are trying to sing whilst bent double, I'd say it was one of your stellar performances. Respect J.R. Still sounds awesome mate. BTW I just managed to track down a KZbin video on Dishwalla that states that your initial influences were 'Queen and New Order'. New Order are (mostly) from my home town (Macclesfield) and also form an integral part of my musical history. My favourite NO track is 'All Day Long', perhaps one of their lesser known tunes. Cool. I don't know of any other band that can somehow mix the vibes of Greg Lake's 'I Believe in Father Christmas' with the theme of child abuse. Utterly incongruent. But utterly fascinating because of it.
