Love it. Easy listening on tape. Wow and flutter and all. Sounds just like what you'd hear in stores and restaurants in the 70s. I was a child but I remember it all.

Makes me want to go shopping at the department store and browsing. Brings back so many memories of accompanying my mother all over town. This was in the background with all its wow and flutter and tape hiss. The parents listened to a local FM station that played this preprogrammed here in Kansas City KMBR easy listening for easy times

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh........... my childhood memories of Southern California growing up in the 70s. I can smell the burgers being made at Newberry counter on a Saturday afternoon with my grandmother. Thank you for this , damn we had it good and didn't know it . ❤😊😊😊 🍔🍔🍔🍟🍟🍟🌭🌭🍿🍧🍨🍦

I remember the same thing back in the day, trips to K-Mart on a Saturday and in the back of the store they had what they called the "Grill", same type of background music playing over the loudspeaker.
@jimkeskey2 жыл бұрын
Didn't Newberry's have something called the Peachy Dog combo? It was like peaches and cottage cheese with hot dog? Maybe I'm wrong. Anyhow, you're right. We had it good and probably didn't appreciate it as much as we would now.
@jimkeskey2 жыл бұрын
@@brownfranklin The Kmarts near us had "cafeterias" in the back of the store. They weren't bad actually. They served burgers, dogs, sandwiches and stuff. If you wanted Icees and popcorn, you went to the stand near the front of the store.
@brownfranklin2 жыл бұрын
@@jimkeskey Yes, same with us. ICEE's were in the front. I think popcorn was in the back. The "Grill" as it was called was like a cafeteria, you had to place your order and grab a tray, cafeteria style.
@jimkeskey2 жыл бұрын
@@brownfranklin And the funny thing was, the food was actually pretty good. I remember the last Kmart in my area to have the cafeteria grill in the back. My friend and I went in and took pictures. They thought we were weird.

A track from BBC1 Testcard tape Summer Sunny Holiday from 1982 to 1984 played. Living proof that whst was plsyed on TV trade test transmissions were also played in superrmarkets, department stores, shopping malls and lifts.

Going straight to my easy listening playlist, all about taking it easy with hot coffee and a fresh pack of cigarettes right out of the carton on top of the Frigidaire, where the kids can't reach them. Ah, that's the ticket.

Thank you so much for this!!! I did not grew up in the 1960´s & 1970´s in Southern California but there was and still is a small private group of fans of professionally produced US-department and shopping mall background music here in Austria, Europe. Quality is timeless! I am a composer of 10.000+ pieces of music and a Hammond B3 Jazz-organist and I learned a lot from this kind of music at the beginning of my own career.

This music reminds me of starting my first morning after landing in a foreign country, riding a rickety elevator in a two star hotel, on the way to a modest breakfast buffet.

they don't play this in foreign countries. have you ever left the country or do you just watch TV?

I’d flip to have your audio/video setups. This is exactly like I’d wish to see the world/ hear the world, grainy VHS/ Super 8 and warped cassette sounds.

Background music at Harvey’s Hotel/casino, Lake Tahoe, during the 70’s and 80’s. Memories of listening to this ‘house music’ while waiting backstage, for my set to start, while performing there with my band… As a bass player, I enjoyed how the bass on these tracks was way out front. Usually sounding like a Fender Precision, with flat wounds, played with a pick. Thanks for posting!

I see that even you are unsure as to the track listing for this compilation. But somehow, you created a masterpiece. I really encourage you to research this, and try to recreate it with restorative technics from your sources, and post this as an album on KZbin. You managed to create a record label name and graphic, and also stumbled across a selection of tracks that seem "new", so obscure that they seem fresh now. Please try to list the ingredients of your audio stew!
